OVER – Coming 2023
Jacob Finch's #15for15 (Pennsylvania )
2015 was a learning experience filled with success and failures. These are the songs that helped me celebrate the wins and cope with the losses.

Tis mostly smooth pop/r&b, with just a few rough edges. Had a lot of trouble picking just one Leon Bridges song, he has been my jam all year and the artist I've been most evangelical about in 2015. #sorrynotsorry about 'sorry' and #trulysorry I just caught the Frank Ocean train last year, as I would love to include several from him as well - I'll be over here in the corner, joining the chorus of demands for his new album.

2015 was the year I finally moved across the country to get away from January. Most of these songs you can run to, although that's harder to do if you move to the top of one of the hilliest neighborhoods in San Francisco. I listened to a lot more music this year once I started working from home. I wore a lot more slippers, too. This is a playlist for making bold decisions, with a little nostalgia (it was a good year for throwback 90s girl rock) thrown in. And yeah, there's some Bieber. The new stuff is good, quit lying to yourself.

This year was a bad year in discovering new music for me. Maybe I'm just getting old but my picks are heavily dominated by new releases by old favorites. This list will probably completely change in a few years as I make it through some of the new releases.

2015 was about using music as a source of joy and happiness while I battled tremendous grief, so this playlist is filled with the kind of pure, unadulterated pop that had me smiling, singing along, and dancing all year long. Get Happy! Radiate Positivity!

It's been the best year of my life, for many reasons, and these songs will always remind me of it.

This year, I was fortunate enough to continue working as the Music Editor for BUST Magazine, a feminist pop culture magazine. The position allowed me to discover some amazing artists that I might otherwise have missed, like Caitlin Canty, SPORTS, and Pearl and the Beard. BUST's music section has always skewed towards female & indie/rock artists, and I'm sorry to say that my hip-hop literacy hasn't improved much this year. Still, Drake's diss track was an EVENT, and even I can recognize that!
I would say that my favorite albums of the year were Alabama Shakes' Sound & Color, followed closely by Grimes' Art Angels. I've played both of those into the ground. Also, this year I moved to Los Angeles, and it is now impossible for me to think of 2015 without The Weeknd as a part of its soundtrack. Enjoy.

2015 was the year of the K-pop Renaissance. It was one of the strongest years for the industry, and the crop of new artists to emerge will become the next generation of mega stars. While a lot of the best music isn't available on Spotify, the following are some of the highlights from an amazing year of music.

According to Spotify, I’ve listened to 53 thousand minutes/881 hours/37 days of music year-to-date. More interestingly, there was a 147% increase in music-listening than the 2014 year. What happened? - music festivals, deaths, excursions, family… life.

This year has been a tremendous transition for me in most areas of my life. Many of the songs on this playlist show a transition in the artists, and capture some of the emotion that has come with 2015.

Each year it seems I try to listen to more albums, and that results in less plays of each album. But these were the songs I always returned to throughout the year. I think you'll get a definite positive vibe from these, and even the darker ones have a rollicking way about them. "Shake and Tremble" got more plays than any of them. Love that song! Also, a shout out at the end to one of my favorite boyhood bands, ELO. Jeff Lynne is still a pop master.

This year's playlist reflects a shift to listening to a bunch of albums on repeat instead of individual songs on other people's playlists like I normally would.
And each of the albums reflects my emotional state at that particular point of the year: Panda Bear was my soundtrack in January and February, when I first moved to San Francisco. That album is really undulating and uncertain. By the end of the year, I listened to a lot of Tame Impala and Erykah Badu; both albums have themes of self acceptance and love.
