Every time I post an example of play involving a d66 table I get people in the notes being weird about, like, the concept of d66 tables, which is very irritating. However, I have to remind myself that having the temerity to look at a centuries-old piece of tabletop gaming technology that you've somehow never heard of before, deciding that you can improve upon it after a whole thirty seconds of thought, proposing an alternative that's both more awkward to carry out and less functional in use, and going away satisfied that you've solved a real problem purely because you find the existing solution's conventions of notation unaesthetic does in fact speak to having the proper mindset of a tabletop game designer.

Shang Qinghua and Mobei-jun War Romance au

I am catching up on Pursuit of Jade and it made me think about Moshang a little bit. SO. Imagine; we are about a month away from the canon event where Tianglang-jun marches into the ambush set by the Huan Hua Palace Master, when Shang Qinghua comes rushing in with a very pregnant Su Xiyan. After they a VERY tense conversation and some SCHEMING later, Tianglang-jun decides to trust this mousy cultivator who has ever-so-helpfully saved his (future) wife. And promptly goes "Okay, now your MY advisor and WE are going to war :D" Shang Qinghua, who only managed to get this far by using a technicality against the System, panics and cries when he realizes the system is not going to help him out of this mess. He is then made into a LEGENDARY war hero among demons and into a wicked traitor of the cultivation world, who set off the Saintly Ruler of Demon World onto a war path. Meanwhile, Mobei-jun gets robed into the war efforts by his uncle in effort to have him die on the front lines, but he keeps surviving. (Purely out of spite and by the skin of his teeth.) He then gets recognized by Tianglang-jun as his most loyal war general. So now they are BOTH well recognized names in Tianglang-jun's army and neither one realizes who the other is. Shang Qinghua keeps being referred to as the "Scary Human Strategist" or "Mad God" (he went off on ONE rant in ONE war meeting and accidentally killed ONE traitor general and NO ONE HAS LET IT GO!), so Mobei-jun has actually no idea it's HIS human who started this show and he is absolutely miserable when Shang Qinghua no longer answers his summons. (He thinks he has been broken up with.) MEANWHILE Shang Qinghua thinks they mean Mobei-jun's FATHER has joined the war, as no one uses the PRINCE'S name when referring to him. What he doesn't know is that Linguang-jun had the current Mobei-jun sent his son out to help the war efforts as the Northern Desert representative. But since he keeps surviving, this plan backfired and people have started calling HIM as Mobei-jun in recognition. (Linguang-jun is spitting mad about it but can't do anything since his older brother is actually very pleased about this.) So Shang Qinghua is under the illusion that His King is safe(-er) at home and has given up on his unruly servant who can't answer his summon bcs Tianglang-jun NEVER LEAVES HIM ALONE. (There are a LOT of people who want SQH dead so either Su Xiyan, Tianglang-jun or Zhuzhi-lang have to be with him at all times.) This leads to some hilarious and heartbreaking moments where the both of them can be in the same camp, warfront or even CENTIMETERS AWAY and keep missing each other. They are both pinning and denying to anyone who asks that they miss each other, even thought everyone can see that they are absolutely smitten with love for whoever they are thinking about. And they think about each other a LOT. Cue for an absolutely devastating reveal where they both save each other's lives, win the war and kiss in front of thousands of soldiers in fear of the other disappearing from their arms again. (Bonus points if Cang Qiong peak lords are in the audience, slack jawed as they witness the REAL reason their martial brother betrayed them all. He sympathized with Su Xiyan bcs apparently their timid An Ding lord (office worker) is a demon fucker too.) Tianglan-jun is very pleased and far too excited and involved in planning their wedding.

I was skimming my copy of Gender Outlaws: TNG to find a different essay and got reminded of Julia Serano's contribution and the way it unabashedly opens with the same misconstrued hatred of Judith Butler's work (of course without naming Butler) and how much she hates the way nonbinary people talk about gender as a social construct while real transsexuals struggle and how actually nonbinary cissexuals are soooooo privileged compared to real transsexuals because nonbinary people are like white people who say they don't see race.

Everytime a contemporary binary trans person goes on and on about how nonbinary people have a "queerer than thou" attitude I blame Serano. Genuinely. With all of the theory and essays I've read she always seems to be the main source of this distrust and dislike of people who express genderfuckery and obviously socially ostracized nonbinary queerness by binary trans people. She's one of the biggest modern perpetuators of exorsexism in transfeminism of the last 2 decades and it makes me ill.

It's just frustrating. I mentioned in a server I'm in that the way Serano writes about nonbinary people and performativity theory is the way I used to talk about nonbinary people and performativity when I was deep in transmedicalism, and the friend I came out of transmedicalism alongside agreed - that's how he felt at the time too. Which makes sense, because frankly, Serano is a transmedicalist.

She values "real" transsexual experiences over "fake" nonbinary experiences and places them in a hierarchy that values binary gender conformity over everything else. That is at the very least truscummy, but is also frankly, transmed as hell. It's so very.... ~nonbinary people are stealing resources and community space from real transsexuals.~

People keep saying "Read Whipping Girl!! Read Whipping Girl!!" where she lays out these frankly transmed opinions in full, and then we wonder why there is still a pervasive issue with transmedicalism and exorsexism in our communities.

Do employers know that employees are actually reusable if you let them rest? Like if you don't use them up completely all at once, and give them time to rest and recover before the next work day, they just kinda grow back? That's how they used to do it back in the day, you could hire five people to do five people's workload, and then keep the same five people for 40 years without issue, instead of having 2-3 people doing five people's work and have to constantly keep looking for replacements since you keep running them to the ground, completely using up like 10-20 employees per year.

We still have access to all the same technology and materials that they were using back in the day. Literally nothing requires us to operate the way things work now.

I had to research a company's business model for a business class in uni and let me tell you, Jeff Bezos' whole business model is to use employees until they burn out and then just hire new ones when the old ones quit or can't keep up. This is both on the warehouse and the corporate side of the business. There was even a prediction model somewhere of how long it would take Amazon to roll through essentially the entire workforce. Insane shit actually, and I think more and more companies now are trying to follow that.

Here's a hint. A lot of places don't actually want to keep you for 40 years.

Employees that work for the same employer for 40 years generally expect things like regular raises and good retirement plans and bosses that know what they are doing and to have their rights respected.

Meanwhile, a constantly rotating cast of new 20-25yo hires never have to be paid more than "starting salary," generally don't have the life experience to know or even care about retirement yet, and aren't knowledgeable or comfortable enough in the job or their rights to call the boss out on their bullshit.

In other words, new hires — especially young people — are often much more exploitable.
