There’s me- I’m going to be a detective.

There is Livvy, my twin, who can fence, and Drusilla, who loves everything scary, and Tavvy, who likes stories read to him.

There is Mark, who is part faerie. He’s an excellent cook.

There is Helen, who was exiled to guard the wards, but not because she did anything wrong.

And Emma, who isn’t strictly a Blackthorn, but is like our extra sister anyway.

And there is Jules. You might like him the best. He is the one who takes care of us all.

“Hello!” A greeting rang through the room. It was Livvy, in practice gear, heading toward them. She paused to pet her saber, which was hanging on the wall near the door with the other fencing swords. Livvy had chosen the saber for her weapon when she was about twelve years old and had practiced tenaciously ever since. She could discourse on types of saber, wooden grips versus rubber or leather ones, tangs and pommels, and it was better not to get her started on pistol grips.

Kit Herondale- “If it’s got a penguin, it’s good content.” 

Diana Wrayburn- “I’m assuming you were all off on adventures this week and didn’t do the readings because you’re all looking at me like I’m speaking French.” *bonus points for the girl at the back who said “actually miss I can speak French”*

Julian Blackthorn- “I don’t need to have feelings about this particular subject to teach you about it, but I do have feelings about it so that’s fun. Not.”

Dru Blackthorn- “Do you guys need a break because I need a break. Everyone leave the class for 10 minutes and when you come back I might be ready to deal with you.”

Tavvy Blackthorn- “Why does nobody listen to me? I’m not invisible.” *bonus points for the person who replied “no we can see you, we just don’t listen.”*

Livvy Blackthorn- “Honestly they were just annoying, but we tolerate them because they were smart.”

Helen Blackthorn- “I wasn’t here for a couple years and this is my first semester back, anybody know what happened while I was gone?”

Aline Penhallow- “There isn’t enough coffee in the world for me to be here this morning yet here we are.”

I very recently re-read bits of After the Bridge in which I think Jem mentioned the Silent Brothers dont have to eat, but Tessa also said he smelled like toothpaste, so like apparently they do somehow brush their teeth even if they don’t eat?
