Quick Recipe: Bacon Wrapped Sage Chicken
If you’re on the 24 Day Challenge I wouldn’t recommend bacon in any phase, but those of you who are in the 25+ Days OR those of you who are just looking for healthy food alternatives - check this recipe out.
Ingredients:
2 Boneless Skinless Chicken Breasts
Fresh Sage Leaves (about 20)
1 Pack of Bacon
Extra Virgin Olive Oil or Extra Virgin Coconut Oil
Frying Pan
Tongs if you have them.
The Steps:
This is a very simple recipe. Take your chicken and cut any bad parts off - fat, veins, you know - Then, cut the breasts in tenders. If you don’t now how, just cut down the breast lengthwise 2-3 times, depending on the size, and then cut those strips in half. (if you like your tenders longer - don’t cut them in half)
If you’re using fresh sage - which you should to get the ultimate flavor - make sure you have enough to match the amount of tenders you just cut.
Slap a sage leaf on each tender.
(start to warm up your frying pan with your cooking oil. Medium-High Heat)
Next, wrap each tender with a piece of bacon. I did a 1/2 strip of bacon per tender, it worked out just fine.
Now that your cooking oil is hot, put the chicken tenders SAGE SIDE DOWN. This allows the full flavor of sage to be cooked and set into your tenders.
Leave them on this side for about 6 minutes. Or until chicken becomes golden brown and fat on bacon becomes rendered.
Flip’em over and do the same thing. 6 minutes.
There’s gonna be a lot of “oil/grease” in the pan. I took each piece out onto a paper towel covered plate, just to let the excess drip off.
NO added salt, pepper, or anything.
Take a bite, you’ll see why.
