I’m going to save up for a new motorcycle by running a scam where I bet straight dudes at bars twenty bucks that I can get a girl’s number in under five minutes and then politely walk up her and say, “I just bet that asshole twenty bucks that I could get your number. I’ll split it with you if you pretend to laugh like I just said a good pick up line and then write a fake number on my hand.”
Like, I never understood those kind of bets in those shitty teen movies. Everybody loves being part of a scheme, man. Use your head.
If anyone ever does this to me I’ll call them out on being a con artist.
Joke’s on you, buddy. That’ll only have consequences the first, what, couple dozen times? I can take a punch.
But then eventually, I’ll have money for the bike, and whenever I get called out, I’ll just speed off, and, sure, maybe I crash and die in a gutter and the police can’t figure out why I have hundreds of fake phone numbers stuffed in my jacket and it launches a huge investigation that becomes sort of a local legend, but you know whose problem that is? Not fucking mine.
Because I’m a slutty motorcycle ghost, and who’s gonna’ stop me then? The ghost cops? Nice try. Everybody knows cops can’t become ghosts because they just go straight to hell. It’s basic math.
Moral of the story, don’t be a con artist or you will die in a horrible accident and become a lonely ghost.
First of all, don’t you ever accuse me of having morals, narrative or otherwise, ever again.
And second, where did I say I’d be lonely? I’d be a ghost on a motorcycle. That’s the sexiest thing that there is. You look me in the eyes and tell me you wouldn’t bone Ghostrider. Look me in the goddamn eyes.
If you’re European, in a couple of weeks you will be denied any and all access to fandom contents on Tumblr and everywhere else on the internet. Here’s why.
On June, 20th the JURI of European Parliament approved of the articles 11 and 13 of the new Copyright Law. These articles are also known as the “Link Tax” and the “Censorship Machines” articles.
Articles 13 in particular forces every internet platform to filter all the contents we upload online, ending once and for all the fandom culture. Which means you won’t be able to upload any type of fandom works like fan arts, fan fictions, gif sets from your favourite films and series, edits, because it’s all copyrighted material. And you won’t also be able to share, enjoy or download other’s contents, because the use of links will be completely restricted.
But not everything’s lost yet. There’s another round of voting scheduled for the early days of July.
What you can do now to save our internet, is to share these informations with all of your family members and friends, and to ask to your MEP (the members of the European Parliament from your country) to vote NO at the next round, to vote against articles 11 and 13.
Here you can find more news and all the details to contact your MEP:
https://saveyourinternet.eu
Also, sign and share this petition:
https://www.change.org/p/european-parliament-stop-the-censorship-machinery-save-the-internet?recruiter=50668942&utm_source=share_petition&utm_medium=twitter&utm_campaign=psf_combo_share_initial
We have just a couple of weeks to stop this complete madness, don’t let them dictating the way we enjoy our internet.
#SaveYourInternet now!
It’s funny how y'all will reblog any and all US things but when whole Europe might lose access to internet then everything is quiet.
Hey, guys! It’s me, your friendly neighborhood law student!
I am seeing this circling my dashboard (yet again) and I would like to say a few things about it. Once again, as I have stated before when I’ve weighed in on something, I am not a lawyer (yet). But, that being said…
Please stop being sensationalist. There are many legitimate criticisms of this directive, but these are not the criticisms I am seeing being spread around. Instead, what’s being spread around amounts to fearmongering. I don’t blame you for doing so - the vast majority of this is being started by the people this will hit hardest, AKA big corporate giants such as Google, Amazon and Microsoft. They have the kind of press pull that very easily leads to this kind of panic.
So, for any of my followers having anxiety about this, let me soothe your worries and address them point by point.
1. “This will destroy the internet in two weeks”
No, no, it won’t. This is a directive, meaning (unlike, say, the the last thing to bring my work onto my tumblr, the fucking GDPR) that it leaves the goals of the directive open to somewhat free implementation by member states, as long as the basic goals of the directive are met on time. As such, it will be years before we actually see any binding legislation as a result of this directive, and how member states choose to implement it will vary on the state in question.
2. “Article 11 will completely restrict the use of links”
Article 11, AKA what is being referred to as the link tax, essentially implements what we call the ancillary copyright of press publishers. This right gives press publishers the right to demand compensation when snippets of their content are displayed on other web pages. So, essentially, this is an article almost directly designed to bop Google (who currently holds the kind of leading market position that the EU sees as incredibly problematic because it kind of goes against everything the EU stands for) on the nose. This would force Google (and, with it, other companies) to compensate the writers of articles that are mirrored to their sites in a truncated form, often leading to less traffic to the actual site in question and thus the mirroring site gaining the revenue that would otherwise be due to the writer of the article.
Now - there are legitimate criticisms of this, which mostly hinge on the fact that forcing people to pay the content creator for content they are using may lead some people to stop using that content. Personally, I think it’s better for people to receive compensation for their work, even if it comes at the cost of less sharing of the work. You are allowed to disagree. The most legitimate form of criticism of this article, in my humble opinion, is that it may lead to a picking and choosing of what content to share and what not to. The thing is - is this not something that is being done already? What does this article add to that other than to make sure that if you do choose to share someone else’s work, that other party gets compensated accordingly?
3. “Article 13 will destroy fandom culture”
No, no, it won’t. The vast majority of fandom culture falls under what US law refers to as fair use and most European national laws (which, in the case of EU countries, are harmonized according to the European Union Copyright Directive) refer to as private use. Article 13 in and of itself does not change the allowances made for private use of media in derivative works already. It merely mandates that companies must take effective measures to stop the users of their services from sharing media that infringes on copyright.
Again, I am in the boring camp of agreeing with the EU - I believe it is better for people to be compensated for their work. If the way we are currently using media in fandom is infringing on copyright, then I think we should stop using it that way. You are entirely welcome to disagree with me on this. Notice how the wording of the article constantly emphasizes how measures taken must be appropriate and proportionate. How the the content recognition technology is mentioned as an example of effective measures that could be taken to stop the uploading and sharing of copyrighted works, not as the only way of doing so. Notice how the entire third paragraph of this article deals with best practices and appropriate and proportionate technology which takes into account the availability and effectiveness of technology - so, essentially, if it sucks and flags too many things as infringing on copyright, it should not be used because it is not appropriate, proportionate or effective. And that’s right there in the directive.
And, yet again, there are legitimate criticisms of this article, including the one mentioned in the OP I am replying to regarding the limitations of sharing copyrighted material on, say, Youtube. That’s true - but you haven’t been allowed to upload full films onto Youtube as is, have you? Videos with copyrighted music in the background have been muted or deleted, as well. The most legitimate criticism I’ve seen is that these automatic copyright infringement flagging algorithms are generally overzealous, and this could lead to over-censoring of content that would actually fall under fair use/personal use/whatever you want to call it. That’s true, very true - but the article doesn’t require countries to enforce algorithms being used if they don’t work as they should. See above paragraph.
So, in conclusion: yes, this directive could stand to be worded better. Yes, it may technically lead to the kinds of doomsday scenarios people are imagining - but I really don’t think it will. In fact, I doubt you’ll notice much difference when (in a few years) these laws actually start getting implemented. Notice how no one has heard about the GDPR for like three weeks now, even though we’re living in that supposedly apocalyptic post-GDPR world? (I say, bitterly, as I wade through piles of GDPR every day at work… :D)
Still don’t like the directive proposal? That’s totally fine. By all means, call up your MEP, take a stand! Now, you’re doing it for the right reasons.

listen… i’m a lesbian and i know full well what oppression based on love is like… but i wish white gay folks wouldn’t act like sexuality is the only reason anyone’s ever felt that
there are people in my family who’ve been disowned because they married someone of a different colour to them… i’m mixed race and the very concept of my existence would’ve been illegal in the us when my parents were born. the supreme court only ruled against discrimination of mixed-race marriages in 1967! that’s barely 50 years ago. homophobia is an awful thing to experience and i know that from first hand experience but i’m begging you to remember that gay people aren’t the only ones being killed for who they love. please remember the struggles faced by Black and brown people when you talk about oppression. please have some solidarity with your nonwhite friends (especially your nonwhite gay friends!) when you talk about dismantling the systems that keep us alone and isolated. please remember the horrible history that is anti-miscegenation laws when you talk about equal marriage rights, because they aren’t just for white gay people.

ADOPTION FUN FACT
If you’re adopted internationally into the United States, BY adoption LAWS you’re legally a citizen, but you still have to apply for documentation and if it’s not done by the age of 18 you have to pay over $500 and get a judge to reopen your adoption case.
Even More Fun Fact: No one actually tells adoptive families, this so many find out after they’re 18 when their kid needs to get a passport, wants to apply for financial aid, get certain jobs, vote or some other shit that requires proof of citizenship and now it’s too late because they’re 18 or over.
AND EVEN MORE FUN FACT! You can sometimes even be deported because you can be considered foreign-born, non-citizens!
Oh and they won’t accept adoption papers or a birth certificate as proof.
Adoption is FUN.
Do it now! Seriously. Even if you think you are safe. Do it.
Many people are finding that even a birth certificate is not valid proof anymore. Texas birth certificates are notorious. So notorious that I have 3 friends who can’t use them to get passports! Don’t think everything is hunky dory. You must nail down your citizenship.
http://www.nolo.com/legal-encyclopedia/filling-out-form-n-600-application-certificate-citizenship.html
Plus the cost for your citizenship certificate is almost doubling this fall.
SIGNAL BOOST.
Some Naturalization/Citizenship Certificate tips from me, the person who front-end processes these forms for half the country: the passport people are absolute garbage at sending your Naturalization Certificate back to you. Unfortunately, they also require it for you to get a passport. If you don’t get it back, whine at them about it and they will probably cover the cost of the replacement.
Also! It takes up to 12 months to get a replacement certificate. If you urgently need your Natz Cert to visit your dying relative in another country, the word you want to use is ‘Expedite’. Not ‘ASAP’. Not ‘rush’. Expedite. Write a letter explaining why you need it expedited, if you do. Otherwise the USCIS data-entry grunts (me!) aren’t allowed to throw it into the expedite line and it gets relegated to the Backlog Crypts.
Also! You need to get a new Naturalization Certificate if your name and/or gender legally changes, because a lot of places want your proof of citizenship for things like Social Security and student loans and Medicaid/EBT/welfare benefits and drivers’ licenses.
ALSO ALSO both the N600 ($600) that you use to apply for your Naturalization Certificate in the first place and N565 ($345) that you use to apply for a replacement certificate are eligible for FEE WAIVERS. It’s called an I912. Learn it, love it, use it.
Please for your sake make sure you are using the current version of the form. The most common reason I have to reject an N565 is because someone sent me something that expired in 2013. The current one is seven pages long. Please send the government all seven of them.
Pagan Pride Not a Safe Place for POC and are Nazi Apologists
Tonight I decided to try to get some answers (again) out of Pagan Pride as to their stances. I asked a question at 4:55 p.m. ass to their stance on the LGBT community and Declaration 127. I finally got an answer at 10:22 p.m. and was told the moderator was a lesbian, so they supported the LGBT community. I then asked if they supported POC and were anti Nazis/Aryan supremacists. I was told they support peace. Finally after thirty minutes of phrasing and rephrasing my question I got an answer: no. We don’t support racism. But, I was told that Nazis are ok so long as they are not true Nazis. I was also told by the leader of my branch that they don’t do “politics.” I will be posting the screen shots tomorrow morning. I just wanted to get this out there tonight. Pagan Pride is a Nazi Apologist group, and is not a safe place for POC.
Part 1
Part 2
“Not true Nazis” “Aryans the magical people ”… It took me over 30 minutes to get an answer. I also went to their website to try to contact this Bryan person. I recieved no answer. Stay safe out there.
I have reached out to the larger organization and they have never gotten back to me. This is not the first time. Therefore, if the organization, and its leaders, cannot say that Pagan Pride is a safe place for POC and do not condemn the actions of their leaders then they exactly as I claim. Also, on their website they make it very, very clear they cannot exclude people based on “politics.” They also use the slur w*cko. Also, one of their leaders sent an undercover detective a photo of a nude child and was arrested. Pagan Pride said that they would “watch the case progress,” but also clearly stated that they “… do not presume or mean to imply that we believe Mr. Holbrook is guilty …” If you are still supporting Pagan Pride, or saying that I’m just trying to start shit you’re wrong.

And this lovely snippet from their blog.
Spreading awareness of this, and just to add to OP’s commentary. Firstly, to claim that you are “unpolitical” is a false statement; everything is political - if you hold an opinion about something that could potentially be argued with, then you are political. Claiming an apolitical stance is essentially an admission of privilege, be it that none of your personal stances are at risk of being debated on a meaningful scale or that you hold no personal stake in the popular issues being discussed and so can safely ignore them. I have no personal experience with Pagan Pride but for a (leader of a) public religious group that claims to support LGBT+ folks to claim not to be political when being asked about their stance on nazis is honestly just perplexing more than anything. Apart from any other possibly malicious interpretation of this, what cannot be denied is the astounding level of ignorance being shown in response to common terminology such as “aryan”. How any pagan group could be operating with such a deficit of information about hate and discrimination within our wider community is frankly astounding to me. I’ve seen some people responding to this post claiming that this is specific to the Colorado Springs branch and not representative of other branches elsewhere but I rebut with this: Even if that is ostensibly the case, the fact that Pagan Pride leadership has allowed for the Colorado Springs branch to operate in this manner of either apathy or ignorance (or both!) is a resounding indictment of the organisation as a whole and how it’s run. To me this seriously delegitimises, or at least puts into hard question, any claims of other branches as safe spaces for PoC. In any case, be cautious and discerning. Seel!
Was the person representing Pagan Pride here drunk or what? Fuckin hell
I can tell you for a fact it's not isolated to Colorado Springs. A similar thing happened in Kansas City when a vague declaration was made about tolerance. When called out for the wishy washy statement it snowballed into being tolerant of even the intolerant and basically how hate groups need to be tolerated. Even if that wasn't the intent of their statement it became it. Out of protest I didn't attend Pagan Pride. It looks like from the sounds of it I won't attend ever again. Seems like this is endemic to every Pagan Pride event (I'll save my speech about the -isms of Paganism).
Underlined PSA
Figment, the recently closed writing website, has just launched (after a long delay) their long-awaited successor to figment known as Underlined, where users can post their work and receive feedback, supposedly.
DO NOT USE UNDERLINED. DO NOT POST YOUR WORK ON UNDERLINED.
Underlined’s terms and conditions contains a clause stating that the rights to all your work that you post on their website belongs to them!!!!
Underlined belongs to Penguin Random House. This is an extremely dirty trick for them to play on writers, especially young writers and children, who come to the internet to get feedback and will lose the rights to their work. Please boost!!!
For my writing friends looking for an online writing community, DO NOT USE Underlined.
I went to confirm @greater-than-the-sword‘s post, because seriously publishers are still pulling this garbage? And yes, they are. If you want to check out the full terms and conditions, have at it. They are full of writers’ nightmares, a few of which I’ll highlight under the cut.

The situation in Honduras is really bad right now.
So, the presidential election was on Sunday but we don’t have a winner yet. People are protesting against the current president of the country, Juan Orlando Hernández, because he is running for president and the CONSTITUTION says that’s illegal. But that’s not the worst part of it: he is responsible of one of the biggest thefts in the history of Honduras. He - and his party, the nationalists - stole 9.2 million lempiras (about 400k dollars) from the Honduran Institute of Social Security. Hundreds, if not thousands, DIED because they were given FLOUR pills instead of their medications.
He also was involved in the murder of the activist Berta Cáceres. He is linked with drug trafficking too.
So, yeah. He is winning with 42% points against Salvador Nasralla with 41%. Nasralla is against corruption and he has a lot of support all over the country.
A lot of people believe that the Elections Tribunal is committing fraud.
People are protesting on the streets but the president is sending the military forces to “control them”. It’s getting pretty dangerous and some are talking about a civil war.
UPDATE DIC 1ST:
So, the government suspended our “constitutional guarantees”. They imposed a curfew on us, for at least 10 days. It’s only been an hour and the military forces have already hit and shot a couple of people. Some are afraid there will be missing citizens in the morning.
Also, we can’t protest anymore. That would be a terrorist act. Yes, today was horrible: people went crazy and started burning roads, breaking in stores and stealing.
We are TERRIFIED. The military is taking over and apparently they are planning a coup. I’ve received voice notes saying that shit is going to get worst.
And we can’t do shit. They are going to kill, disappear and silence the country over a presidential election (oh, and we don’t have a winner yet, 6 days after the election). I don’t want things to be like this.
Please if you can, share. My people is desperate.
please share this, these are my people and this is my home.
