It’s strange that they have eternity now. Chloe thought it would bring her some kind of peace, knowing they’d finally have peace in their lives. They’ve settled into a routine now, her and Lucifer. But there are still times she mourns the time Lucifer missed watching Trixie and Rory grow up, time they’ll never get back. Moments he can’t ever a part of. She doesn’t blame him; she could never.
Sometimes missing Trixie and her life on Earth hurts. Lucifer comforts her through those moments, holding her as she says what she needs to say in a room that’s a near replica his penthouse in L.A. But it’s not his penthouse; it never will be. So sometimes Chloe regrets their decision.
“There’s one thing that’s timeless,” he tells her.
It’s supposed to be comforting, but it’s not really. Lucifer can tell and she sees the guilt that flashes in his eyes when she doesn’t reply.
“I could go up sometimes,” he offers. “Provide her company. I wouldn’t be able to take you with me, of course, but…”
He’s offered before and she usually refuses, not wanting to spend time away from him. Now she’s realized that was selfish. Lucifer hasn’t visited Earth since her funeral.
“Yeah,” Chloe says. “I think that’d be good for her.”
“Maybe I can ask Amenadiel for his necklace,” Lucifer tries. “Your her mother; you should be able to see her.”
“Lucifer, it’s past my time. Trixie and I will both have to deal with that. It sucks, but that’s how it is for us humans.”
“Alright. At least— let me deliver a message from you?”
“Just remind her I love her and that I’m so proud of her. Tell me what’s new with her, will you?”
Chloe smiles at the old nickname. Old habits die hard.
After that, Lucifer goes up more often to be with Trixie and Rory. In some ways, she thinks it helps him make up for lost time. She knows he regrets their decision as much as her sometimes.
