This is what I’m fucking talking about… If this post had said “depression” instead of schizophrenia I’m positive this person wouldn’t have perceived it as threatening. Psychotic people are not dangerous. Being around psychotic people is not a threat to your safety. This is why we face so much mistreatment by medical professionals and social alienation. Because people see us as an inherent threat, you people seriously have to fucking read a book. What an absolutely pointless and rude thing to add to a post about awareness for a severe disorder.

Image 1: a screenshot of a Tumblr post tagged #schizophrenia that says “schizophrenic people are all around you, you easily could’ve passed one on the street today, it could be someone you know, the post you’re reading right now was written by a schizophrenic person. unlearn the stereotypes. we exist everywhere, not just in hospitals.”
Image 2: a screenshot of a response to that post that says “that sounds…like a threat for some reason”

OP These are genuine works of art and belong on a gallery wall somewhere (I especially like the NOmoji with the O as their mouth and “looking disrespectfully”)
@a-chaotic-dumbass and @rurifangirl you might like these 💃
i have never met an unpsychotic person who knows what it actually means to “not encourage the delusion” …not a single one
what “don’t encourage the delusion” means:
don’t argue with or challenge the delusion—attempting to disprove someone’s delusions is not helpful at all and will result in that person not trusting you
assure the delusional person that they are safe; be open and honest at all times
encourage them to verbalize their feelings and offer protection to prevent injury to themselves or, possibly, others
start building a trusting relationship with them rather than acting on a desire to control their symptoms
do not confirm or feed into the delusion by asking questions about it when the person is not experiencing a psychotic episode
what it does not mean:
insisting to a psychotic person experiencing psychosis that what they’re experiencing isn’t real
I don’t mean to trivialize psychosis by making a weird comparison, but this guide also serves as a handy checklist for helping someone through a bad drug trip. In both cases your number one priority is to get the person through whatever they’re dealing with unharmed.
i don’t think it’s trivializing at all, nor a weird comparison—as a psychotic person who has had psychotic episodes inadvertently triggered by drug use and/or worsened while trying to self-medicate with drugs, i think this is an important addition.
Maybe he’s ordering a decaf because he has a heart condition, and you’re about to give him a heart attack and send him to the hospital.
Or maybe he’s just ordering a decaf.
Maybe she’s ordering sugar free because she’s diabetic, and you’re about to put her six feet under.
Or maybe she’s just ordering sugar free,
Maybe they’re ordering non-dairy because they’re intolerant, and you’re about to ruin their day. Maybe they’re allergic, and you’re about to sponsor an all black event in an open field.
Or maybe they’re just ordering non-dairy.
Maybe they ordered gluten free because they can’t process it, and you’re about to destroy their digestive tract.
Or maybe they’re just ordering gluten free.
Maybe they’re ordering this way just because they don’t want the food, for whatever reason.
But are you willing to bet their life on it?
Also, please remember that some people with sensitivities may get sick hours to days later. Just because they don’t have an immediate reaction doesn’t mean they are “exaggerating” or “lying”.
Whether illness or personal preference— just make their dang food the way they ask!!!
everytime I hear about children of the corn I think about the guy I met at comic con who actually lived in the town they filmed that movie at, and on the farm where they filmed in the corn. he was a teenager at the time and him and his friends would get drunk on moonshine and rustle the corn and let the air out of the tires of the production team’s trailers and shit. and now there’s Wikipedia pages about how the children of the corn set was haunted and they thought they angered god but it was really just drunk hillbillies
I don’t like adding to posts but I also have a funny story like this, so I was watching the movie the Blair witch which takes place in burkettsville maryland, which to me is so funny because that is were my grandfather lives and the town is literally just old people and cows with their main street consisting of a post office. Well anyway he told me that after it came out people were coming in like bus loads to the town to find the witch and my grandfather lives up in the Mountain area and people were up in his property trying to find the witch and it made him angry so he went out and hung up stick people and stacked rocks and it freaked the people out so they started thinking something was out there when really it was my 80 year old Italian grandpa who wanted people out of his woods.
We had ghost hunters come to a historic house in my town to film and if you think every high school kid in town respectfully stayed at home that night instead of going to fuck up that filming you’re dead wrong.
this is comforting, actually, sometimes paranormal things are just a bunch of bored people dicking around in the woods.

Something that bears mentioning: I get why we need to shame straight girls who fetishize mlm ships but. To any straight girls who consistently relate to or resonate with mlm dynamics on a deep level or see themselves in queer male characters. if by any chance this post from a tiny tiny blog crosses your dash. Please take this moment to very privately consider the possibility that you might not be straight. Or a girl.
me a few years ago: i mean i’m a cishet girl i just really relate to mlm characters!!
me now, a bisexual trans guy: oh
no offense but let bisexual girls talk about boys like… y'all praise us when we gush about other girls but when we mention a cute boy y'all call us straight… like how do you expect bisexuals to feel comfortable with themselves if you only show validation for part of their attraction?? it just doesn’t make sense??
same with bi boys who dare mention a girl they like. please. dont fucking force people to ignore a part of their sexuality just because you’re looking for any excuse to exclude someone.
Ted bundy isn't ugly, you're just a lesbian
