ayato in love with an investigator headcanons

as a teenager, ayato was arrogant, brash, rude, and could even be considered cruel by some. he would never, ever, ever admit to being in love with anyone- especially an investigator.

you would have to really stand out as an investigator and as a person to catch his attention in any sort of relatively peaceful light. maybe you spared a ghoul who begged for mercy, or maybe you try to make their deaths as painless as possible. you won’t get away with not killing ghouls as an investigator, but it’s the least you can do!!!

at first, he would call the weird obsession he has with you disgust, or anger, or hatred, or wariness. he’d go after you and try to kill you for a few weeks, but then stop once he realized that wasn’t what he was feeling. he’d go under the radar for a while to mull over it.

he honestly won’t know what to do. he’s never been in love before, and he has no idea what it feels like to be in love.

he won’t go to anyone for help. no way. he’s too good for that!!

he’ll realize his feelings at the worst of moments. when you’re in danger of being killed, he decides to step in and help you but wait wait wait-- why would he do that!?? holy shit, what’s wrong with him!?

he will freeze up and realization will dawn on him. holy shit. he’s in love. he’s in love with and investigator. he’s in love with you.

i did mention you were in danger, right? right?? well, crap. ayato was busy reconsidering all his life decisions while you were being butchered by his fellow ghoul. lol.

poor guy. he just wanted to live, and maybe have some dinner. and he had a loving family, too! too bad they never found his body. :(

ayato will take you to his home- his base- his quarters-...? (where does he live again..? oops) er, he’ll take you to wherever he lives and patch you up while you’re unconscious. he’ll put you in his guest room or something and constantly attend to your needs, no matter how little he knows about humans’ dietary needs.

when you wake up, you’ll definitely be freaking out. because, oh shit, what the hell happened?? one minute you were being mauled by a batshit crazy ghoul, and the next you’re in some dude’s house, with all your wounds bandaged and a fresh change of clothes??

man, that’s awkward. and scary. and embarrassing.

(it’s worse if you’re a girl, though. i mean, i seriously doubt he asked touka to help you change your clothes...)

you were unconscious for a day or two. luckily you have the week off, and you live alone- nobody’ll miss you at all!! :D

he will snap at you and force you to stay with him at least until your wounds are all healed. no matter how much you protest or question him using your status as an investigator, he won’t budge.

awkward silence the whole week because of his attitude. he won’t speak, so you won’t either. he’s suspicious, and you’re cautious. a good combination.

once you leave, he’ll immediately regret not forcing you to stay with him. he liked being around you, even if you never even had a decent conversation with him. he’ll quickly cut off that train of thought and promise to avoid you for the rest of forever.

(it doesn’t work, of course.)

he’ll pass by you on the street, watch you from a distance, help you- without you knowing, of course- when you’re injured (he’ll leave little care packages at the door to your apartment. yes, he followed you home.), and attack anyone who attacks you because technically now they’re attacking both of you- to him, at least.

he’ll never approach you while there’s so much tension between ghouls and investigators. maybe- maybe once everything’s settled and there’s a tentative peace, he’ll approach you once more.

it’s really unlikely that kaneki would cheat on you. he’s all about character: he’d look at you for who you really are before he made his decision.

if you start acting differently towards him, he would confront you about it. he wouldn’t cheat- he’s just not that kind of person.

if he was unhappy in the relationship, he’d tell you and break it off.

honestly, the only scenario i can see uta cheating is if you’ve become distant for some reason. i see uta as a rather needy partner- if you’re not there for him, he might go find someone else.

still, like kaneki, it’s unlikely. he’d confront you about it and talk to you first. if it doesn’t work out, he’d break it off. uta is a friendly guy, and not the type to do something as backhanded as cheating on a spur.

hide is a rather sincere person, although he is able to deceive people for his own person gains- not in a bad way, though, like when he joined the CCG but actually wanted clues on kaneki’s whereabouts, y’know!?
