you all should be grateful for the fact that vld even exists, especially because it exists in a space where its okay to say “hey, this should have been done instead” or “i wish this happened” instead of being endlessly critical and holding it to a standard of unrealistic expectation. be grateful that the staff is trying their best to create a space where youre allowed to express your wishes and headcanons onto the characters. be grateful that the vld staff is taking your (valid and non valid) criticisms to heart and acknowledging them. 

voltron doesnt exist for anyone to harass their sjw fantasies onto. it exists as entertainment. it exists as a story about war. its a fucking tv show. it is not a relic or showcase or pedestal of progress and diversity. its not a machine where if you put a penny in youll get a $100 bill back.

it does not exist to focus on how gay a character is. or a gay pairing. it does not exist to serve as a romantic space opera. characters are characters regardless of their romantic designation, or who they end up with. how about instead of focusing all your energy on the fact that your favourite gay ship wont become canon, instead focus on the actual plot?

you have every right to go and write your own fanfiction focusing on your favourite ship. thats what it exists for.

are there many things that are wrong with how voltron handled the promotion of adam and how the staff hyped up him and his relationship with shiro, only to kill him off? absolutely. does this mean that you should be hostile towards the people who spent years creating this content that you overtly consume and then ruthlessly spit out? no. is having a gay ship not become canon mean deciding to stab the vld creators in the back and reboot the entire series in order to make them kiss?

push for diversity, push for seeing yourself represented in media. but under no circumstance should you ever undermine the years of hard work the producers, animators, writers, and directors have been putting into voltron: legendary defender.

come up with an original fucking plot and characters instead of rebooting a series for the 6th time.

I went to a lecture last night about charity and the panelists were all middle-aged or older. They talked about how there’s a decline in giving amongst young people and offered up a few reasons they think that might be: selfishness, decline of religion, less confidence in charities. Not one of those panelists mentioned, ya know, NO ONE HAS MONEY. When they took comments from the audience, a guy in his 20s stood up and said, “Don’t you think young people are giving less because they have less? Yeah, I think a lot of the giving poor people and especially poor millennials do would never show up in stats - we don’t claim deductions for charitable contributions, there’s no paper trail for giving a few dollars here and there to panhandlers or donation posts, or bringing groceries to a broke family. I’ve literally only known one person who bothered to get a receipt when dropping off old furnishings, clothes, etc., at a charity shop, and she was middle class and middle-aged. I think poor people’s patterns of giving are dramatically different and less traceable, and since millennials are more likely to be mired in poverty than our middle-aged peers, that’s going to show across generational lines.

Why do grown ass adults want to eat Tide pods so much?

Because a ton of the visual/olfactory/textural sensory information these pods give me the match nutritionally-dense fruit. It’s got the oleic gleam of something high-fat like an avocado, but bright carotenoid-rich coloration like a berry that wants to be eaten by red-seeing primates and birds. It tends to smell sweet and slightly floral, enhancing that effect. Similarly, when you hold it, it is quite dense (denser than water), but very soft and liquid, once again reaffirming that this “fruit” has either high sugar or high fat content and almost no cellulose to it.

As a result, within me is a less-clever monkey just screaming to eat this delicious fruit in my hand about to go into the laundry, and it does in fact take willpower to tell him he’s a stupid monkey and this is a bubble of foul-tasting poison. But every time I do laundry, this fucking limbic monstrosity rises again and assures me it’s basically like a cherry but Even Better. I have legitimately debated just biting down on one in the hopes of inducing a deterrent memory to forestall this urge in the future, but that’s what my goddamn mammal-brain wants me to fucking do and I refuse to let it win.

I’ll follow the tag, come back 20 minutes later & I’ll for some reason have unfollowed the tag automatically. There is a reason that happens.  Tumblr is OWNED by Verizon who is a leader in throwing money at getting rid of Net Neutrality.  They have spent literally millions to bring it down so that they can charge you more, slow down your internet and block you from sites they do not deem appropriate.  Keep sending in letters, emails and making phone calls.  IF you post about it ADD links for FS!
