For a second I didn’t realize it meant “high” as in a stoner–I thought “High Geologist” was like a rank of geologist or something and he was insulted you would challenge him to naming stones
great poast every one👍
I have drawn him…. The High Geologist
Can’t believe he’s ace
He is now And here’s the photo evidence:
hey guys…https://twitter.com/MatthewLillard/status/1322648148364324864 so does this make it canon?
the high geologist has ascended
every time i see this post it gets…. better? but also weirder.
I always gotta reblog the High Geologist once in a while.
I love this too much.
Reblog to get to look at a cool rock from the High Geologist

I do the opposite of gatekeeping, I’m not going to shut up until you like this thing as much as I do
here’s a wet pathetic man in a gifset to get you started and then I’m going to send you memes as propaganda
gatetossing: hurling the gate at passersby and attempting to capture them, regardless of whether they wanted to pass through the gate

I want to share ygo s0 with people so I uploaded whole season to youtube with the best translation and video quality I found: ⭐️the subs was carefully proofreaded; ⭐️the audio in the hand-digitized raws was fixed. Thanks to Bereke Scrubs! Amazing job!😍
This is an English subtitled release of the 1998 Yu-Gi-Oh! anime, also known as “Season Zero” or the Toei anime. English subtitles by Bereke
Here’s a photo of when the PBS people let me see the newshour set after I went to their offices for a focus group— I totally second everything in the video above! PBS is great and so, so vital!! Please protect public television and public radio!!!
Republicans have wanted to kill PBS for years.
Wouldn’t it be hilarious if hundreds of thousands of people suddenly started tuning in to watch PBS News Hour?
WOULDN’T IT?!?
Also, SUPPORT PBS. They get not very much funding from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (which unevenly doles out $500M a year to 1,300 radio and tv stations, a mere $385K each if averaged out. The rest is member donations and grants from nonprofit foundations, the latter of which have increasingly been announced in “it’s not an ad but kind of an ad” ways which skirts the rules.
They have apps on all the streaming platforms and devices, and you can buy a PBS Passport membership to get access to their complete library.
Watch PBS News for daily, breaking and live news, plus special coverage. We are home to PBS News Hour, ranked the most credible and objectiv

Forest temple showdown
As we see a barrage of evil executive orders come in, they are not immediately enforceable and will takes months or years to implement.
That’s still not great, but don’t let these pile up to the point of hopelessness. Take a breath, and look community leaders who will fight it every step of the way.
Reminder that when Trump was in office before a LOT of his orders got overturned or held up in lower courts for long enough that they became irrelevant. It also does not mean they WILL be enforced. Stand with your community where you can. The fight is not over. Do not obey in advance.
Last sentence above is the most important. Tyranny requires people to shut up and fall in line. Do not obey in advance.
Hey remember when US and Russia was all like “We’re the best!!! We’ve won the space race!!!!” But India sent a kick-ass space probe to Mars and the whole mission was fuel efficient, costed less and a roaring success in the first try and then they were like “…..wait no that can’t be true” and still have the audacity to call us “underdeveloped” or only view us as a ‘third world country’? :)
For anyone who needs more info, the probe was called Mangalyaan (which literally means space probe vehicle) or Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM) and you can also get more information here and here
Remember when NYT mocked India for this very thing and an TOI (a major indian newspaper) responded with this? :)
They were being racist asf and we were till respectful literally fuck you if you think ‘third world counties’ can’t be better than you
white people can and should reblog this
and shout out to the women engineers integral to the launch
“Indian staff from the Indian Space Research Organisation celebrate after the Mars Orbiter Spacecraft entered Mars’s orbit.
On November 5, 2013, a rocket launched toward Mars. It was India’s first interplanetary mission, Mangalyaan, and a terrific gamble. Only 40 percent of missions sent to Mars by major space organizations—NASA, Russia’s, Japan’s, or China’s—had ever been a success. No space organization had succeeded on its first attempt. What’s more, India’s space organization, ISRO, had very little funding: while NASA’s Mars probe, Maven, cost $651 million, the budget for this mission was $74 million.
This was not the only success of the mission. An image of the scientists celebrating in the mission control room went viral. Girls in India and beyond gained new heroes: the kind that wear sarees and tie flowers in their hair, and send rockets into space.”

Adult Transgender Legislative Risk Map, November 2024
This map is made and maintained by transgender journalist Erin Reed. She read all 550 bills targeting trans people in America in 2023 and 586 so far in 2024 and she scores state safety based on proposed and enacted legislation. She regularly updates the map (including explanations of recent legislative changes) on her site. She has a separate map for trans youth (which: warning, is even more scary), since a lot of policies target minors specifically.
It’s depressing as all hell, but Erin does great work and I’ve been using her maps to plan my career and vacations for years. It’s helped me figure out where to apply for grad school, and helps me keep track of what states I cannot do a layover in while flying because of bathroom bills.
here’s the current map as of January 19th, 2025
Btw I think it's worth mentioning that I'm like. In some ways an extremely cynical person:
Literally, one of my major opinions on humanity is "Humans really seem to like committing genocide???" (Looks, obviously genocide is a fucking atrocity, and I'm in no fucking way diminishing that. It's just also something that people keep fucking committing.)
I work professionally with survivors of abuse, rape, and incest.
I think that most people are (by design, aka evolution!) fundamentally self-interested (and also that that's usually okay)
I am more caught up on the news than like/at least 90% of people.
So when I say that I think that:
Hope is real
There is real, substantial evidence for hope
I think we're going to beat climate change
There is a ton of evidence that supports us beating climate change,
We're going (continue) making the world a better place
The good of humanity and the world ultimately outweighs the bad
It's not because I'm sticking my head in the sand. It's really, really not!
I'm saying that in very real knowledge of how fucking shitty things are and can be.
And despite all that, I'm still hopeful. I'm still optimistic.
I still think hope is going to win.
You don't need to be some huge optimist to have hope.
Anyway here's a link to my masterpost on why we're going to beat climate change,
And here's a link to a great article on all the reasons that this century is, on average, the best time to be alive in human history.
Required reading for everyone: A book called HUMANKIND: A HOPEFUL HISTORY. It's breathtakingly well-researched and well-argued, it presents the information in a clear and really accessible and often very funny tone. Hope is going to win. It is.
