This is probably a little too much nuance, but whenever I see a "all borders are violence" post (a political position I generally agree with!) I always add a little asterisk that says "*but the border checks that keep you from bringing homegrown produce into big agricultural areas to avoid the transmission of parasites and invasive species are actually fine and if we were more vigilant about that kind of thing maybe we wouldn't have spotted lanternflies in the states."
Customs management (you do not want people importing a bunch of stuff that doesn't meet your country's safety standards, for example)

I lived in Texas for about three years and before I moved I assumed that Texans being obsessed with Texas must be some sort of stereotype but no. Itās even more extreme than you think it is.

Over approximately 10 days, our Artemis II crew successfully completed a voyage around the Moon. They gave us stunning photos of the far side of the Moon, Earth, and a solar eclipse, along with inspirational messages, laughs, and even a few tears. Let's recap the Artemis II mission.
First step: fit check.
Artemis II astronauts Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch, and Jeremy Hansen got suited up and had their spacesuits checked to make sure they were ready to go to space.
Once their custom-fit suits were checked and the astronauts were ready, they walked out to greet the crowd at our Kennedy Space Center in Florida. After saying hi to everyone, including their families, the quartet made their way onto the Orion spacecraft that would carry them to the Moon.
The astronauts entered Orion and completed more checks. Next, the closeout crew closed the final hatch on Orion.
Then, it was time for the big moment ā well, the first big moment of the mission: Liftoff!
Orion was on its way to the Moon, and the astronauts aboard had plenty to do.
They exercisedā¦
and conducted interviewsā¦
all while showing the camaraderie and collaboration that make missions possible.
And that means Rise, too! The little plush zero gravity indicator was a constant companion throughout the mission.
Finally, it was time for them to go around the Moon and observe its far side. As the astronauts began to describe features of the Moon that they saw, they had a heartfelt moment when suggesting that a crater be named after Reid's late wife, Carroll.
During the lunar flyby, the foursome experienced a solar eclipse that only they could see!
All throughout the mission, there were many moments of "Moon Joy."
After the crew completed their observation duties, it was time to start the journey back home.
On April 10, the Artemis II astronauts safely splashed down in the Pacific Ocean, bringing the mission to a triumphant end.

Actually had someone do this to me too. Was doing a art stream, it took me over 2 hours to do his inked commission, he got a refund cause āit took too longā that he figured I wasnāt going to do it after I gave him the file.
Iāve had this happen to me with a $350 comic :/ I had already finished it, it was full color, 6 panels and had a full bg in every panel. I was lucky in that I didnāt spend him money yet, but it left me without funds. Iāve also had the above happen to me as well.
Donāt do this shit to artists. Weāre people too. Drawing for you is more than a hobby. Itās a job.
I cannot stress this enough. That shit helps A LOT when it comes down to Paypal refunds/disputes.
Thereās a description box that letās you put in what the product is/how long itāll take/yadda yadda, and then thereās another little memo box that only you and paypal can see where you can say itās a digital commission and doesnāt require shipping (So Donald Mcfuck canāt say that they never got their commission).
And thereās also a box for your Terms & Conditions where you can say, if you have any conflicts/want a refund - email me, or you can actually tell the user that this is a digital commission and they wonāt be getting a hard copy of it.
ARTISTS. PLEASE USE PAYPAL INVOICES. it will SAVE you.
And to: the people who do this to artists ā Fuck you. Itās okay if you change your mind and want a refund. But freaking TALK to us and let us know whatās going on. Let us WORK with you.
ALSO A HUGE TIP: Invoices paid will automatically set up a shipping notice which, if not fulfilled, can land you in SERIOUS hot water with PayPal. Since a lot of artists donāt print and ship the commissions, this is a huge problem.

As a big supporter of artists, donāt you ever fucking dare fuck over an artist like that. Like donāt. And if they take their time to do a good job, donāt shit all over them for it! Donāt be a fucking ass hole. Just donāt. These people put a Ā LOT of work and time and effort into their artwork. Just donāt be that guy. Often times these artists arenāt even getting what they deserve in compensation.Ā
