a very hot, moist day with a cloud heavy evening, seemingly pregnant with rain; what a perfect time to listen to Tempest. These open fields almost yell at me, wanting to tell me to bewander them more often and feel... everything? I'm thinking the openness of both the sky and the field almost have the function of a canvas for a subjects feelings and thoughts. At the same time the heavy, thick air, an invisible force surrounding you and maybe even segregating you from the openness of the sky. Otherworldly!

currently reading a text on emotions and feminist theories by Catherine Lutz; it has beautiful insights on the cultural and social (under)value of emotions, which goes in part back to the classic dualism of emotionality and rationality in traditional philosophy, aswell as the emotional labour women perform which is quickly viewed as being natural and of no real labour because of seemingly inherent, natural female caretaking traits. The marxists really are often onto something ;)

It‘s just so satisfying reading literature like this; i feel like i can actually impliment it in my daily way of thinking about things. How i love feminists!

Linoleum print project i made in a workshop!

I am currently in the process of diving into the history of the Carnation Revolution of 1974 in Portugal, led by the MFA, a intermilitary group, to overthrow the fascist Salazar regime (1933-1974) and the colonial and imperial holds Portugal has had and defended for so long; notably in African countries such as Angola and Mozambique. The carnation has since served as a widespread symbol of popular, socialist and communist movements, as well as a national symbol for todays Portugal.

With european countries moving further right as time moves on, i feel it is important to underline and remember who fought for peoples liberation of oppressive systems in so many parts of the world.

Feminist criticism of men's behavior comes from the idea that gender is a social construct, that men are not inherently evil and their behavior can change. If men couldn't change, the criticism would be pointless.

It is not necessary for every feminist statement to include a 'not all men do this' disclaimer. The criticism itself already expresses the possibility that men could choose not to behave in this way.

Unless someone states that men's behavior can't change or that there is inherent evil in being a man, accusing a feminist of 'manhating' because she criticizes men is usually nothing but an attempt to distract from the content of the criticism itself.

We should recognize such an obvious attempt at derailment for what it is and move on.

Pigeon uses Remembrance day poppies to build a nest on top of Anti-bird spikes in 2019. The absolute amount of symbolism going on here is off the charts.

A pigeon. Both in that it's a dove which means peace, but more importantly that pigeons were essential as messengers during WWI. Most famously Cher Ami.

The spikes resembling violence and hostility.

Using Poppy pins made specifically for Remembrance day and all the symbolism of Poppies and WWI itself.

The fact that it stole the poppies from a tomb of an unknown soldier.

The fact it took them to make a nest to lay eggs and raise its babies in.

The fact that it's on the ledge of a church.

The fact that the window it chose to make the nest against is of a wounded soldier.

You couldn't have STAGED a better photo if you tried.
