Well, the skirt is done! It came out better than I had expected, it looks almost exactly like I had envisioned so i’m really happy. 

It’s made from thirty yards of tulle, five yards of organza, fifteen meters of LED lights, eighteen feet of christmas garlands, wreath mesh, and fake flowers.

The dress runs off of fifteen batteries, which makes it really heavy, but surprisingly easy to move around in.

History Lesson: In America from about 1700-1920 there was a social rule that said that women did not have a sex drive. According to men, all women ever were asexual and only ever had sex because their husbands wanted it and as a good doting wife they would open up for him. That said, lesbians flourished in this time! Because it was believed that women did not have sex, when two women would share a house and finances together (called a Boston Marriage, look it up!) nobody thought anything of it. This is Sennelier Watercolors on Fabriano hot press paper. I wanted to try this paper after hearing really good things and I was not lied to. It is fantastic paper. The line art was done with a Caran d’Ache watercolor pencil, which mainly dissolved as the painting went on.

I’m actually oddly happy with this one. Hooray! Back to work….
