I should not be given access to this kind of technology…..

the phasmid in disco elysium has to be in the 99.99th percentile of effectiveness for characters that, when i actually interacted with them first, changed my perception of the entire world a piece of media had built up. like DE, pre-phasmid, has some wondrous magical realism kind of elements that appear more as you progress (the existence of the pale and its whole deal, harry’s skills allowing him insight he should not have, etc) that juxtapose some of the more gritty and real aspects (we’re investigating a murder here. and an extremely politically and emotionally charged one at that) but i just feel like the phasmid’s appearance really solidifies that yes, this game does feature serious topics and interactions that are desperate and sad and violent, but oh my god we have to keep going. like oh my GOD we have to keep living so bad. there’s hope and here is wonder still undiscovered by the rest of the world. there’s more to see out there and while we have that we have to continue seeking it out. things can be strange and impossible and beautiful and so sad at the same time and i want to see it all. all bc this big fuck-off insect that looks like a clump of reeds told me to do it for the working class. nods. okay phasmid. okay
don't you know... didn't you hear...?
178 years ago today, a thirty five year old british guy wrote a poem about the sea while he was trapped in the arctic ice
Peglar Papers Real which means one of the only things left of him besides his body is a journal with lines reminding him who he was. Remembering who he was. And they thought it wasn’t him at first. But it was. It is!
A huge congratulations to Terror Camp 2025 presenter Kaitlyn Gorsalitz @alongblank on her contributions to the recent identification of the remains of FOUR (!!!!) new Franklin Expedition men, as part of Dr. Douglas Stenton's research team.

this is a highly controversial opinion, I have no doubt King Arthur was bisexual but I think he was one of the few people in Camelot not interested in fucking Lancelot. he wanted to retain him as an employee but it did not cross his mind that Lancelot was fucking his wife because Lancelot is such a weird little twerp that he did not perceive him as a sexual being. my interpretation.
So true. The Galehaut/Lancelot relationship was like a dynastic marriage to resolve the conflict between two imperial powers. I like to imagine Galehaut was like “I have decided to abandon my plans of capturing [what is now] all of southern England and surrender to you despite my military advantage, all for the love of my achingly beautiful and spectacular new male wife, Lancelot du Lac.” and Arthur was like “Okay. Weird. Not homophobic or anything but Lancelot? You’re in love with Lancelot?”
Co-signed. That’s some real shit you said. Also, unlike Arthur, he was willing to yield and share his lover for everyone’s benefit. And then he died for love. A real freak. One of the best freaks in 13th century French literature.
he’s the most interesting gay wifeguy in literary gay knight history
please, I’m begging all of you, get in the kitchen and start cooking
Amazing first couple of episodes of Our Wars Have Ended, I’m so excited to hear more! I really want to give you kudos on Episode 1’s sequence between Timmer and Finick as he was dying; the writing, acting, and sound design were all incredible and so immersive!
I found that seen to be a spiritual sibling to the scene of Goodsir and David Young in episode 1 of The Terror. Lots of meaty parallels around service, choice (or lack thereof), and of course the unrelenting horror of a man, dying in pain and fear. Incredible work to establish such fulsome characterization and a (foreboding) sense of what we have to look forward to on this journey.
Also, much like with Goodsir, I know that Timmer is about to become an all-time favourite character of mine.
So glad to have your fantastic writing and storytelling back on my feed.
Thank you very much for your very kind words, Tosca and Shaun are both fantastic actors so it's all on them! (There's really not much sound design, which is always fun.)
I can totally see that parallel with Goodsir and you have made me think I need to rewatch S1 of the Terror, which is always nice, so thank you for that as well.
Goddddddd thinking about that narrative moment when something horrible is happening and the character who has been frantically trying to come up with a way to fix it and getting more and more frantic and panicky just—stops. Because. Oh. There’s the solution. They’re not getting out of this alive but like. It’s a solution for everyone else. Okay. Okay.
Why would you do this to me.
this is going to be a controversial one but I think the optimal number of cats for facilitating making the bed is not, in fact, "every cat in the house" but perhaps even ... zero
dangerous misinformation
as a rule it's always more interesting when two people who know each other outlive a third person that they both loved and then their relationship becomes So Much Weirder and more emotionally fraught, entangled, and charged when that third person dies

it's finally that time of the year again for the clinically depressed newscaster describing february with disco elysium music
what is the single best line in this video
it's a month that doesn't hold up life any better than it really is
something great happened here but it's over with and that's the way february is
like the desperate flinging off of something that's not true anymore
the expedition is getting desperate. people are throwing things aside
this looks like a place where people who are being punished are sent
nobody is tap dancing or breaking into a rogers and hammerstein song
theyre just barely able to get across the street and hunker over a bowl of chili
most of the birds who can afford it have flown to florida
it's as if there's some awful truth out there in the trees
something that's been bothering you for a long time is out there. what is it?
to hide the bleakness of feb., man invented valentine's day. also mardi gras.
what other month can host a holiday designed to remind us we're all gonna die?
character limit forced me to paraphrase
yeah,
