Take charge of your health
As a health care professional, I wholeheartedly support people being educated about their health conditions and lifestyle choices.
Knowledge is power, and you deserve to be empowered when it comes to anything impacting your body and your health.
So seek out reliable information, and never feel bad for asking your doctor lots of questions - it is absolutely our responsibility as doctors to educate our patients so they can be informed to make decisions about their health.

Ways to Make Yourself Feel Better on Days You Feel Alone
Send a loved one a quick “I love you” text or write a letter to someone.
Pet a pet.
Step outside and draw or write about the first thing you see.
Look in the mirror closest to you. Write down as many things/qualities about yourself as you can that you love. Aim for at least three, but any number is better than zero.
Listen to a song that makes you feel upbeat. (My Reccomendations: any song from The Greatest Showman beside Never Enough)
Find a birb page to scroll through on Instagram.
Binge watch a favorite YouTuber or show that always makes you smile. (My Reccomendations: Shane Dawson)
Grab a small snack. Not anything large as it’ll probably only make you feel worse.. grab some crackers or a cheese stick. Something simple.
Google writing prompts, and write something new to distract your mind.
Remember that you aren’t alone, even if you may think you are. You never know how many people may be thinking about you. Maybe someone just simply passed by you in the grocery store a few days ago or in school or at work and now they can’t get you off their mind.

Well guys... I did it! The reason for my LONG hiatus has finally reached its end. This past weekend I walked across the stage to receive my Master’s of Social Work. When I started my bariatric journey and started to struggle with mental health and body issues and found little to no resources specifically tailored to wls patients... I realized that I wanted to be the change that the world needed. So I enrolled in grad school and spent two very long and very hard years to achieve my dream. I have interned at a local hospital’s inpatient behavioral health unit and have actually been hired on part time. I am still not sure how exactly I will make a difference for the WLS population but I will get there.
No matter how long you’ve travelled in the wrong direction, you can always turn around.
