I would like to get Bariatric Surgery to help jumpstart my life - to become healthier and stronger.
Hi everyone!
I usually wouldn't post this sort of stuff, but my sister means the world to me, and to see her mental health plummet because of her weight, honestly hurts me, and scares me as I'm not sure how handle the situation myself
I've struggles with Ed, and anorexia all my life, whilst my older sister stood by and watched trying to make me love food.
Now it's my turn, I want my sister to feel happy again, to have a normal relationship with food.
If anyone could spare $1, $5 anything to help out. It would be very appreciated.
Thank you!
I met with my surgeon for the first time today! We both agreed that the #gastricsleeve was the right choice for me! I have my psych eval on the 30th (required by lame insurance) and to be determined dates for meetings with dietitians. My surgeon thinks it’ll be a few months still before I go under the knife but finally the process has started! I started doing a loose diet based on keto/low carb a couple weeks ago and now being out of the carb-detox phase I feel pretty good. I miss cereal. I’m doing this so that I can give myself the best chance at the post-op diet by cutting the bad out now. My support system is pretty tiny so I’m hoping to connect with other vsg/bariatric babes out there!
My current stats: Height: 5′1 HW: 308lb (January 2020? Ish?) CW: 290lb (-18lb so far) GW: I don’t know! TBD! Any BMI chart I look at wants be to be at around 130lb but that seems crazy and unattainable so for now I guess my first goal is 240lbs? Sure. We’ll go with that.
A good Ol before and after 🤭 less than 2 years ago vs today. So far, in the past 6 months I’ve lost 75 lbs and I couldn’t be happier 🥰
Meet @therealslimschumie I’m Chelsea. I’m 29 from Dallas, and I’ve lost 165lbs. Before even considering having wls I got a trainer and got my eating habits inline, but still the scale wouldn’t move for me. I remember vividly sitting in my ob/gyn’s office getting the news that It would be hard for me to carry a child of my own. I was diagnosed with PCOS, and that day I felt like my life as I knew it was over. Over the years My weight had escalated up to almost 400 lbs. The next day I already had a consultation scheduled to meet with my bariatric surgeon. I didn’t want the pressure of having that diagnosis to determine my life. I knew it was time for a change, I just didn’t know how drastic it would be for me. I had vsg in Dec of 2017. Since then I’ve lost 165 lbs. I’ve successfully continued to see my trainer and keep my eating habits in line. Although there are days that are difficult, because I actually handle my feelings now.. I have never been happier and more full of Joy. Starting Tip: at the beginning of your journey or in the maintenance phase, keep chasing your goals and not let any diagnoses define you! . . 📌 Wlstories is a SUPPORT GROUP. Well guys... I did it! The reason for my LONG hiatus has finally reached its end. This past weekend I walked across the stage to receive my Master’s of Social Work. When I started my bariatric journey and started to struggle with mental health and body issues and found little to no resources specifically tailored to wls patients... I realized that I wanted to be the change that the world needed. So I enrolled in grad school and spent two very long and very hard years to achieve my dream. I have interned at a local hospital’s inpatient behavioral health unit and have actually been hired on part time. I am still not sure how exactly I will make a difference for the WLS population but I will get there.
So after the 24th (just about 2 weeks from now)... all I will have left to complete for my insurance approval is my blood work which I have scheduled for Dec 4 (because it has to be within 30 days of surgery)! I can’t believe how quick but slow this time seems to be going. It’s like, I can’t believe since I made the decision on Sept 12 to now, I’ve had my consult, my primary care doc wrote my referral letter and after this week I will have met with the nutritionist and hopefully have my psych clearance. But I also know it’s still about 2 and a half months away from my surgery date which seems so far, but I know with work and life, it’ll be here before I know it!
I’m going to start incorporating a protein shake as a meal replacement next week in hopes of start shedding a few pounds before surgery. We’ll see what I can do, but any progress ahead of surgery I think will really set me up for a successful post-op. I also know it sounds crazy, but I want to try a few different brands a flavors to see which ones to buy.
Any of my followers have recommendations as to what they liked and what flavors?
