I am a sensitive person due to my mental state (anxiety disorder). And also neurodivergent, if you want to know. Therefore I post about my interest a lot, speak too much, but also get drained easily 😞

I’m going to say something that might sound crazy. Suicide and suicide attempts are sort of a societal alarm bell that says “something is very wrong with the environment this individual was in.” A living being choosing to take themselves out of existence is the most extreme act of distress there is. The state stepping in to silence this alarm bell by funneling suicidal people into a state sanctioned euthanasia program, normalizing this act through a socially accepted bureaucratic system, is not a good thing. It goes hand in hand with the state’s interest in maintaining the status quo at the expense of the population and the psychiatric industry’s interest in individualizing societal problems to extract profit and aid the existing system. It’s saying “there are no complaints here, just people with sick brains, carry on.”

Suicide is rarely about a desire to die, it is about a desire to escape an impossible situation, whether that is poverty, abuse, body dysmorphia, loneliness, whatever it may be. There is always a way out of these situations but they often require things that are very expensive and difficult, such as providing free housing for people (ie to allow them to escape abuse), providing good quality psychiatric care, and building places that engender connection rather than loneliness. So capitalist governments realize it is cheaper to kill people who want to die than to unpack what it is that they need and give it to them.

Context: in 4th universe I have added Mikhail Tereshchenko selling his family business in 1913 due to: 1) Being tired of leading it by himself [before male relatives of his led business themselves]; 2) Making up other plans [including leaving to Europe without remaining relatives]. Of course Elizaveta Mikhailovna Saranchova-Tereshchenko, his mom, was mad at such occurence. Her son, the hope of family, abandoning all the progress? Unacceptable!

So I think her certain qualities (belief in God, strict moral compass) would vanish over time of living without proper help and having to feed the rest of her kids.

And thus, I plan to make Elizaveta Mikhailovna... Well, an expropriator, if you will. She would steal resources given to Ukraine areas by her son (you do remember Mikhail is the ruler, right?) and give them to anarchists. And thus being killed by members of Mikhail's committee.

I'm just not so sure how to execute it properly.

The concept of a family being functional and healthy only when there’s a man present is truly baffling to me as a Slavic woman who was raised in a post soviet region, where there’s not a single family where father is either 1. Present 2. A breadwinner 3. Not an alcoholic 4. Not abusive 5. Not neglectful and absent 6. Not a cheater 7. Doesn’t have some crazy ass military trauma etc. So many of my peers where raised by the combo “mom+grandma” simply because dads where awful or just left.

The longer I live the closer I come to realisation that our modern concept of this perfect “mom+dad” family is an absolute trash because men just simply aren’t developed enough to truly care for the community. No man ever is a family material. Women are sold this idea that with the right man they can have a perfect healthy household full of happy rosy-cheeked babies, but you almost never hear a happy story, and the saddest of them all are not even about women leaving and choosing to raise their kids with grandmothers, actually. Behind every “happily-married-for-30-years-and-counting” family there’s a woman who just gave up for the sake of social acceptance, buried her dreams and aspirations deep down within and just learned to cope.

We as society tend to overvalue a man’s contribution to a family (even when there’s none, just his mere presence) and undervalue a woman’s. It’s a shame we still view households without a man as unhealthy and non-functional, when in so many cases they actually are and even more so. I would even claim that only a man-free family can be truly functional and healthy.

The last sentence of second paragraph made me sad. Reminded of my mother who got overwhelmed with housework, never had the chance to get better at her job and she still after divorce feels like she wasted her time.
