it’s crazy how much you can read if you read
I love how difficult Daniel Jackson is simply because he knows he isn’t technically military and can’t be court martialed.
my favourite bit right now is saying "scientists still don't know" in relation to something I (One Single Scientist) specifically do not know the answer to
Oh, Tuesday, you trashy bitch
Clearly, I am incapable of keeping to my self-imposed schedule of sharing terrible writing prompts. So, Terrible Tuesday is right out. Instead, please make poor choices with:
Feeble Friday SG Writing Prompts
Ceremonial assless chaps
Oh my god, you're so grumpy!
Chubby bunny war
The only war Australia ever lost - and make it angsty
The hell are you gonna do with a bowl?
Bonus
6. Cute aggression
Sitting here in a state of horror at the mention of the war but then also imagining Daniel trying to befriend an Emu like an Unas after a big fight with Jack who was just going to bomb them all.
This is set offworld on a planet that resembles 1932 Australia and Daniel is like “guys, I’ve read about this, fighting won’t work.”
Daniel then gets injured because unlike the unas who are a reasonable race, emus are not. They are terrifying and yes, that is my personal experience.
Teal’c pulls a one liner about how Daniel would never have been okay with them being killed and shouldn’t someone who cares about him as much as Jack does, support him unconditionally and trust his expertise or something else soul crushing for Jack.
Sam’s just avoiding eye contact and following orders whilst jack’s ripping his literal hair out, leading a black ops high pressure mission to save his Daniel from an emu who attacked him for a protein bar.
Daniel ends up saving a baby emu from a very real drop bear and after that the emus leave him alone, and he realises that they only keep trying to encroach on the town because the other wildlife is rabid and they trying to protect their young.
The apologies are very private and very lengthy and this is all very ridiculous.
not now mom I have to see what my mutuals with masters degrees are blogging about on tumblr
Dark Sides of Character Strengths
protective → reacting with excessive violence to small provocations and retaliating disproportionately
curious → disregard for safety and boundaries
determined → dooming self and even others when refusing to let a lost cause be lost
vigilant → paranoid control and distrust
independent → isolated and unable to ask for or accept help
decisive → coldblooded, reckless, and taking extreme measures without considering less lethal methods
forgiving → inability to hold people accountable and never learning from past mistakes
easygoing → unserious and not taken seriously by others even when warranted
optimistic → denial of real danger and damage
disciplined → rigid expectations of perfectionism from self and others
heroic → meddles even when told not to and ignoring people’s autonomy
generous and helpful → inability to say ‘no’ and stretching self thin trying to help everyone
loyal → blind trust to the point of complicity
Reasons why Dr. Daniel Jackson can't go to the Pegasus Galaxy:
I need Daniel
I need Daniel right here
An exhaustive list by Brigadier General Jack O'Neill
characters in movies love to wake up from surgery and immediately start ripping off all their medical equipment like theyre a sexy werewolf breaking their chains. brother you dont know if that tube is the only thing keeping you alive right now. calm down.
When you thought it would be easy peasy lemon squeezy but it turns out to be difficult difficult lemon difficult.
Wait that’s actually really good, gonna pop this out of the tags
Not the citrus scale I was looking for but I like it
SG1 people who want to whump Daniel Jackson some more and want ideas:
Consider that at some point either Jack or General Hammond would likely have ordered Daniel to attend Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape school, AKA SERE.
fun fact about SERE, the practical examination includes hiding from your instructors and then once youre captured, being interrogated
Ad blocking/reporting should have some sort of an "I never want to see this fucking ad again and if you fail me and show it to me again I will track down where you live and fucking kill you" option.

rite of passage thoughts:
the fact that Cassie develops into a typical moody, defiant teenager says so much about Janet as a mom. like this is a kid who endured severe trauma at such a young age; the fact that she is acting like any other teenager just a few years later is a real testament to how safe and supported she must feel with Janet and her SG1 family.
cassandra calling janet “dr. fraiser” and refusing to call her mom because she knows she’s undergoing some kind of weird transformation and she’s afraid janet won’t love her anymore so she’s trying to get ahead of it by creating distance. and her testing the waters with sam asking “what do you see when you look at me now?” and sam says “i see you” like stopppp this is THE sam/janet + cassie episode.
i also love how, even without the alien experimentation aspect, this is such a normal pivotal moment for all kids. “will you still love me even if i’m different?”
also sam is such a dad with that “respect your mother” ass line, “don’t call her dr. fraiser, she loves you and she deserves better than that”
that’s such an interesting dynamic, too, the co-parenting of it all. Sam is the more distant “parent” so all of their interactions are very meaningful to Cassie, and Cassie gets to form an image of Sam that might be somewhat idealized, especially considering how they met. and nobody can ever really live up to that bc it’s partially fantasy. it’s kind of reminiscent of kids with distant/absent fathers idealizing them and in turn villainizing their mothers only to realize one day that their moms were the ones showing up for them all along.
