it's true and you should say it.
coming out of the tags to say that some of us have been saying this for years and have been called all manner of degenerates, perverts, and pedophiles over it, and we really deserve an apology we will never receive
We DO deserve a fucking apology we'll never get, and not to soapbox, but lemme just throw out another fucking explanation of exactly why this shit keeps happening in the slim chance that it helps at least one person not fall for it: Fascism in ANY form will ALWAYS present itself as reasonable to YOUR sensibilities. It preys on a lot of things, your disgust reaction, your fear reaction, your own shame, your need for a tribe, your need to feel like you're part of something bigger than yourself, your need to protect your resources, your need to boost your own ego, your need to feel better than others, and in my opinion, the worst thing of all that it can prey on is your WANT TO DO GOOD. It turns that Want To Do Good against you, gives you "acceptable targets" and sets you loose, thinking that you're being a fucking super hero. Fascism will ALWAYS feel okay when you're doing it because you understand why you're doing it because you've been told why you should be doing it by someone who's fucked the narrative to make you feel good about hurting other people because they've convinced you that you are protecting people by doing it!! Fascism tells you: "The sort of people who value a sex scene in a movie are perverts, and perverts are dangerous, right? Oh god... What if they're a rapist and that's why they like that sort of stuff? Yeah, that trans girl that made that post about movies needing sex scenes... She pisses in a diaper, that's fucking disgusting right? And she likes weird fiction... And diapers are meant for kids... So... Yeah... Exactly, you got it! See you figured out what she was too! So you should trust your gut with these people, you're really good at spotting them! You know when someone is evil! And you DEFINITELY should not listen to a pervert explain themselves, because... Right, exactly, what's the point? They're just going to lie about it and probably say gross shit to you." Did you catch how that worked? It let YOU make the conclusion. It let YOU answer the questions and start setting shit in stone in your own mind. And the next thing you know, you're using fiction as proof, anything outside of your own comfort levels as evidence, you've become an emotionally reactionary fascist who genuinely believes you are making the world better, and safer, for the people you love, and who love you in return. Fascism doesn't begin with violence, it begins with a kind hand held out in your direction from someone else who believes they're helping. You might not even realize you've fucked up. Ever. That's how it works. That's how it thrives.

Degenerate art - Wikipedia
If we don’t learn from history we are doomed to repeat it.
I'm going to say this knowing that I could get some push back from people who follow me, but if you've fallen into the whole proship/anti-ship discourse and you're on the anti-shipper side of things, then you're on the slide.
You're heading toward that fascist mindset, because the whole purity culture/anti-ship mindset is designed to do specifically that.
It's designed to make you feel like the Good Person doing the Good Things being the Good and Sensible One Standing Against all The Bad Things. And chances are part of it is because someone told you proshippers are pedophiles, or whatever - they might not have even said anything concrete and just let the implication hang there.
I'm not a fan of proship vs antiship just because stuff like that gets distilled down into very simple statements, and oftentimes simplicity loses the plot. But after a couple years I will say seeing "proshippers DNI" in someone's bio will cause me to either block them, or step back from them.
It makes me nervous because even if they're not actively being aggressive, they've got a foot on the slide and that's an easy slip. I've watched too many people go down that slide, and I've had my arm dislocated trying to help some of 'em.
And look, there's assholes everywhere. Every group, every ideal, every nook and cranny you can possibly find for people has assholes. If you're letting the assholes cause you to Other an entire group of people
You're On The Slide.
The sooner you come to terms with that, the sooner you can make changes, the less it's going to suck balls for you and everyone else.
Never-before-published model sheets for canned Amblin Cats movie 🐈⬛✏️👁️
Hi all. As promised, I am sharing a comprehensive .PDF of model sheets that were created for the Amblimation Cats movie that never saw the light of day. Most of these model sheets have not been published or posted anywhere on the internet as far as I'm aware. I'm going to get ahead of some questions for the good of the order:
Are these real? I certainly didn't sit and create all 117 pages myself for the sake of an elaborate hoax!
How did you get these? I work in the animation industry. A senior coworker caught wind of my cats obsession and said he had the Xeroxes and asked if I wanted him to bring them in. Internally, I flipped my shit. And then I digitized his hard copies.
How did your coworker get these? They were found in the library of the university he used to go to. (Not super unusual at an arts school in southern California.) He made photo copies back then and has been holding onto them. The thing is he knows nothing about CATS; isn't a CATS fan, never seen it, etc. I guess he just felt it was something worth holding on to!
Can you upload better quality? Unfortunately what you're seeing as good as the quality gets. These are scans of photocopies from the 90s. There is nothing to be done for the crunchiness.
What about (missing characters)? I'm showing you everything I was personally given!
Which character is (nondescript drawing of a cat)? If the image isn't labeled, your guess is as good as mine! I put all the misc./unlabeled cats in the back of the PDF. The only exceptions are ones that I felt were abundantly obviously supposed to be a specific character.
Who are the artists? Unfortunately, there's no way I can tell for sure. None of the sheets are signed. I wouldn't even go about guessing because many concept artists can perfectly emulate more "well known" illustrators whose styles were sought after. My coworker said he might be able to figure out who the draftsmen were; until then it's a mystery! If I find out, I will come back to this post and update it with that information.
Are these all the model sheets ever? No! In fact, there are model sheets that have been posted online that are not in the bundle I was given. I have no idea of the sum total of model sheets in existence.
Where's the link?! Here it is! Have fun kitties!
There are people – some in my own Party – who think that if you just give Donald Trump everything he wants, he’ll make an exception and spare you some of the harm. I’ll ignore the moral abdication of that position for just a second to say — almost none of those people have the experience with this President that I do. I once swallowed my pride to offer him what he values most — public praise on the Sunday news shows — in return for ventilators and N95 masks during the worst of the pandemic. We made a deal. And it turns out his promises were as broken as the BIPAP machines he sent us instead of ventilators. Going along to get along does not work – just ask the Trump-fearing red state Governors who are dealing with the same cuts that we are. I won’t be fooled twice.
I’ve been reflecting, these past four weeks, on two important parts of my life: my work helping to build the Illinois Holocaust Museum and the two times I’ve had the privilege of reciting the oath of office for Illinois Governor.
As some of you know, Skokie, Illinois once had one of the largest populations of Holocaust survivors anywhere in the world. In 1978, Nazis decided they wanted to march there.
The leaders of that march knew that the images of Swastika clad young men goose stepping down a peaceful suburban street would terrorize the local Jewish population – so many of whom had never recovered from their time in German concentration camps.
The prospect of that march sparked a legal fight that went all the way to the Supreme Court. It was a Jewish lawyer from the ACLU who argued the case for the Nazis – contending that even the most hateful of speech was protected under the first amendment.
As an American and a Jew, I find it difficult to resolve my feelings around that Supreme Court case – but I am grateful that the prospect of Nazis marching in their streets spurred the survivors and other Skokie residents to act. They joined together to form the Holocaust Memorial Foundation and built the first Illinois Holocaust Museum in a storefront in 1981 – a small but important forerunner to the one I helped build thirty years later.
I do not invoke the specter of Nazis lightly. But I know the history intimately — and have spent more time than probably anyone in this room with people who survived the Holocaust. Here’s what I’ve learned – the root that tears apart your house’s foundation begins as a seed – a seed of distrust and hate and blame.
The seed that grew into a dictatorship in Europe a lifetime ago didn’t arrive overnight. It started with everyday Germans mad about inflation and looking for someone to blame.
I’m watching with a foreboding dread what is happening in our country right now. A president who watches a plane go down in the Potomac – and suggests — without facts or findings — that a diversity hire is responsible for the crash. Or the Missouri Attorney General who just sued Starbucks – arguing that consumers pay higher prices for their coffee because the baristas are too “female” and “nonwhite.” The authoritarian playbook is laid bare here: They point to a group of people who don’t look like you and tell you to blame them for your problems.
I just have one question: What comes next? After we’ve discriminated against, deported or disparaged all the immigrants and the gay and lesbian and transgender people, the developmentally disabled, the women and the minorities – once we’ve ostracized our neighbors and betrayed our friends – After that, when the problems we started with are still there staring us in the face – what comes next.
All the atrocities of human history lurk in the answer to that question. And if we don’t want to repeat history – then for God’s sake in this moment we better be strong enough to learn from it.
I swore the following oath on Abraham Lincoln’s Bible: “I do solemnly swear that I will support the constitution of the United States, and the constitution of the state of Illinois, and that I will faithfully discharge the duties of the office of Governor .... according to the best of my ability.
My oath is to the Constitution of our state and of our country. We don’t have kings in America – and I don’t intend to bend the knee to one. I am not speaking up in service to my ambitions — but in deference to my obligations.
If you think I’m overreacting and sounding the alarm too soon, consider this:
It took the Nazis one month, three weeks, two days, eight hours and 40 minutes to dismantle a constitutional republic. All I’m saying is when the five-alarm fire starts to burn, every good person better be ready to man a post with a bucket of water if you want to stop it from raging out of control.
Those Illinois Nazis did end up holding their march in 1978 – just not in Skokie. After all the blowback from the case, they decided to march in Chicago instead. Only twenty of them showed up. But 2000 people came to counter protest. The Chicago Tribune reported that day that the “rally sputtered to an unspectacular end after ten minutes.” It was Illinoisans who smothered those embers before they could burn into a flame.
Tyranny requires your fear and your silence and your compliance. Democracy requires your courage. So gather your justice and humanity, Illinois, and do not let the “tragic spirit of despair” overcome us when our country needs us the most.

Enshrine Same-Sex Marriage in Ohio
Considering the news that Idaho legislatures are calling on the Supreme Court to reconsider Obergefell V Hodges, which enshrines Marriage Equality, that means there's a good chance same-sex marriage could be dragged to the chopping block for many states where it's only enshrined on a federal level, including my own home state of Ohio. I urge you to please sign and share this petition to urge Ohio lawmakers to enshrine same-sex marriage in the Buckeye State.

People have been contacting the White House directly to demand a recount, especially since there has been evidence that not every ballot has been counted and will be thrown away if it hasn't been cured.
The link to contact the White House is here!
Contact the President, Vice President, get help with a Federal Agency, or request a Presidential Greeting.
The following screenshot comes from here!
If you need help writing something, check under the cut! I've provided a prewritten response from one of the replies!
Please send physical letters too!
Plenty of people way smarter than me have spoken at length about how much policy (and demanding a recount/investigation is policy!) can be shaped by like. A few actual physical letters & some phone calls.
Emails are the ultimate ephemera. Emailing is great, inbox number go up, but it's just number go brrrrr.
Imagine you're a White House staffer, and you get to work next week, and instead of the usual handful of letters from schoolchildren doing a class project (cute!) you have a rubberbanded stack of envelopes two inches thick on your desk. Now imagine the next day it's four inches. Now imagine the next day they bring a white USPS tote in. If you've never seen a white USPS tote, it's a bin the size of an old-school residential recycling bin made of translucent white corrugated plastic with black USPS Official Use labeling stamped all over it. Now imagine you've got one of those, when you never had one of those in all 3.8 years you've held this position. And now imagine the next day it's two totes and a sack (USPS sacks being sized the size of an average American dorm laundry bag--THEY AIN'T SMALL, you could easily fit a kindergartener in there with room for their iPad).
And now imagine it doesn't stop, and your job (at the White House) is to open all this fucking mail because we have rules in this country, and one of the most major rules is you--White House peon guy--have to open all this fucking mail because every person's voice matters. You have to read all this fucking mail, so you can at least summarize to somebody else in that great machine what the hell the people are Contacting Corporate about.
Oh, and also the voicemail box is full, and the phone keeps ringing. You may have the ringer turned off, but the screen keeps lighting up. The lights on the lines keep blinking. Every call is going to voicemail at this point (you have other things to do, you have to read ALL THIS MAIL and also buy M&Ms for the candy drawer and apologize to whichever Secret Service agent Major has bitten this week and y'know. Do drafts & reports, and go to meetings, and many other such things. You have emails of your own. Maybe you have a kid who's also on notice for biting people [probably not Secret Service agents, but you never know] or an emergency root canal to get to or your sister's wedding coming up & you keep arguing back and forth about who's paying for the outfit you're required to wear in her photos for her wedding that you didn't even really wanna be in cuz you didn't have a great relationship growing up anyway [your parents are divorced & she learned from your mom the exact way to push all your buttons simultaneously in a way that always resulted in near-total psychological ruin] but you have to cuz otherwise you'll disappoint your gramma who's in the middle throes of Alzheimer's anyway so she probably wouldn't even notice or care but it's the principle of the thing and your gramma really raised you in the middle years of your parents' split & you remember her how she used to be & you never visit enough anyway [which you also feel bad about! it eats the corners off of you!] but you can't not respect her, y'know. It's why you go to church on Christmas Eve even though you're indifferent to religion yourself, because she wanted you to. And--oh shit, Christmas is coming up too, you have family visits to plan & maybe roommates to wrangle & maybe shared custody to fight over & gifts to buy & the gas bill's gonna go up now cuz you just had to turn the heat on but the weather won't make up its mind cuz we've fucked the planet and---oh god, the phone is ringing again)---and you have this stack of fucking mail to get through. This pile. A bin of unpretty, every day, average American handwriting to decipher. So you can make your summary report on the mail the President got today--which you also have to type up & forward!! there are meetings!!!!!--because the President has to listen to everybody.
The average American citizen does not write letters anymore--letter mail has been on a sharp & steady decline since the 90s. People who write letters are typically weirdos, freaks, people who have an overabundance of free time & some perverse psychological need to grip some form of stick in their hand and mash it into a piece of paper for twenty to forty minutes. Shit, the average American citizen rarely writes much of anything these days--handwriting instruction's been on an even-sharper and even-more-rapid decline.
The number in the email inbox goes brrrrrr. That's easy enough to ignore. You can ctrl + F in that later, and get a nice easy summary of how many times a word or approximations thereof appears over x number of emails you got this week.
Your desk is buried under fucking letters.
It does not have to be pretty, it does not have to look cute, just write what you were gonna say on a piece of paper too & chuck that bitch in the mail.
You can get a singular stamp at the Walmart service desk, most drugstores, the grocery store service desk, many gas stations & party stores (I hear some of y'all call those "bodegas" or "corner stores" where you're from), and of course the post office itself. If your post office has a self-serve kiosk you don't even have to talk to a person! You can just follow the options on the screen, pay with your card, & it will print you one singular stamp. Which you will then put in the upper-right-hand corner of your envelope & place in the slot for outgoing mail, or a blue mailbox anywhere you see one.
Done. Civic duty accomplished. White House staff's life made harder, because in a world where things have gone increasingly digital any unanticipated amount of paper absolutely FUCKS the workflow.
Here's the address:
President Biden c / o The White House 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, N.W. Washington, DC 20500 (be sure to include your own address somewhere on your letter too, that's their rules)
And here's where you can call:
(202) 456-1111 TTY/TTD: (202) 456-6213
now go perform some democracy.
To anyone who lives in Ohio, you may know that the Republicans have been able to hold onto their positions of power for many years. That’s because they’ve been using an unfair tactic known as gerrymandering.
However, we the people in the Buckeye State have the power to change that with Issue 1. This amendment would put an end to gerrymandering so that elections in Ohio going forward will be decided fairly and squarely without interference.
To everyone living in #Ohio, possibly the most consequential election is coming up. I urge you guys to #VoteBlueUpAndDownTheBallot to ensure a great future not only for us, but for future generations. And please #VoteYesOnIssue1 to end gerrymandering and open the door for fairer elections.

"I disagree with Kamala's position on the war in Gaza. How can I vote for her?" by US Senator Bernie Sanders
His question is NOT RHETORICAL by the way! Transcript for anyone who struggles with video:
“I understand that there are millions of Americans who disagree with President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris on the terrible war in Gaza.
I am one of them.
While Israel had a right to defend itself against the horrific Hamas terrorist attack of October 7th, which killed 1,200 innocent people and took 250 hostages, it did not have a right to wage an all-out war against the entire Palestinian people.
It did not have the right to kill 42,000 Palestinians, two thirds of whom were children, women and the elderly, or injure over 100,000 people in Gaza.
It did not have the right to destroy Gaza's infrastructure, housing, and healthcare system. It did not have the right to bomb every one of Gaza's 12 universities.
It did not have the right to block humanitarian aid, causing massive malnutrition in children and, in fact, starvation.
And that is why I am doing everything I can to block U.S. military aid and offensive weapon sales to the right-wing extremist Netanyahu government in Israel. And I know that many of you share those feelings, and some of you are saying,
"How can I vote for Kamala Harris if she is supporting this terrible war?"
And that is a very fair question. And let me give you my best answer. And that is that even on this issue, Donald Trump and his right-wing friends are worse. In the Senate, in Congress, the Republicans have worked overtime to block humanitarian aid to the starving children in Gaza. The President and Vice President both support getting as much humanitarian aid into Gaza as soon as possible.
Trump has said Netanyahu is "doing a good job", and has said Biden is "holding him back". He has suggested the Gaza strip would make excellent beachfront property for development. And it is no wonder Netanyahu prefers to have Donald Trump in office.
But even more importantly - and this I promise you - after Kamala wins, we will together do everything that we can to change U.S. policy toward Netanyahu. An immediate ceasefire, the return of all hostages, a surge of massive humanitarian aid, the stopping of settler attacks on the West Bank, and the rebuilding of Gaza for the Palestinian people.
And let me be clear. We will have, in my view, a much better chance of changing U.S. policy with Kamala than with Trump, who is extremely close to Netanyahu and sees him as a like-minded, right-wing extremist ally.
But let me also say this - and I deal with this every single day as a U.S. Senator - as important as Gaza is, and as strongly as many of us feel about this issue, it is not the only issue at stake in this election.
If Trump wins, women in this country will suffer an enormous setback and lose the ability to control their own bodies. That is not acceptable.
If Trump wins, to be honest with you, the struggle against climate change is over. While virtually every scientist who has studied the issue understands that climate change is real, and an existential threat to our country and the world, Trump believes it is a "hoax". And if the United States, the largest economy in the world, stops transforming our energy system away from fossil fuel, every other country - China, Europe, all over the world - they will do exactly the same thing. And God only knows the kind of planet we will leave to our kids and future generations.
If Trump wins, at a time of massive income and wealth inequality, he will demand even more tax breaks for the very richest people in our country while cutting back on programs that working families desperately need. The rich will only get richer while the minimum wage will remain at $7.25 an hour and millions of our fellow workers will continue to earn starvation wages.
Did you all see the recent Trump rally at Madison Square Gardens? Well, I did. And what I can tell you is that, as a nation, as all of you know, we have struggled for years, against impossible odds, to overcome all forms of bigotry - whether it's racism, whether it's sexism, whether it's homophobia, whether it's xenophobia, you name it. We have tried to fight against bigotry. But that is exactly what we saw on display at that unbelievable Trump rally. It was not a question of speakers getting up there, disagreeing with Kamala Harris on the issue. That wasn't the issue at all. They were attacking her simply because she was a woman, and a woman of colour. Extreme, vulgar sexism and racism.
Is that really the kind of America that we can allow?
So let me conclude by saying this: this is the most consequential election in our lifetimes. Many of you have differences of opinion with Kamala Harris on Gaza. So do I.
But we cannot sit this election out. Trump has got to be defeated. Let's do everything we can in the next week to make sure that Kamala Harris is our next president.
Thank you very much.”
Also please vote in Congressional races. As president, Harris will have the power to sign or veto legislation providing military aid to Israel, but Congress passes that legislation to begin with.
Susan B Anthony: Fought for women's rights in the 1800s
Martin Luther King, Jr: Fought for African Americans' rights in the 1960s
LGBTQ: Fought for respect, rights and marriage equality
Donald Trump: could easily take those away if he wanted to
Bringing this back in light of the election.
Because I remember disinformation being spread around the last few elections and I’m sure assholes will bring it back:
YOU CAN’T VOTE ONLINE.
YOU CAN’T VOTE FROM YOUR PHONE.
IN MANY STATES THERE ARE LEGAL CONSEQUENCES FOR PHOTOGRAPHING YOUR BALLOT.
DO NOT WEAR CAMPAIGN GEAR TO THE POLLS.
DO NOT TRY TO PERSUADE PEOPLE TO VOTE FOR A CANDIDATE AT THE POLLS.
DO NOT ENGAGE IN ANY KIND OF POLITICAL DISCOURSE AT THE POLLS.
NO ELECTION IS EVER A SURE THING, EVEN IF YOU’RE IN THE BLUEST OR REDDEST OF STATES. IF SOMEONE TRIES TO TELL YOU THAT YOU CAN SIT THIS ONE OUT, THEY ARE EITHER IGNORANT OR MALICIOUS.
VOTE.
