Tbh that CNN article did scare me, can you clarify what you mean when you say it's not true
yeah ummm ok i'll explain as if you didnt read it lol. basically it is a half truth. or a quarter truth
so there is (or used to be) a website called motherless. this website is a video hosting website much similar to the likes of xvideos. similar to pornhub as well tho pornhub doesnt lean as heavily into fetish porn beyond stepbro/stepsis stuff that has become ubiquitous as of late (you can still find it on there tho). motherless leaned hard into fetish content, cnc and somnophilia and some much more niche stuff as well. crucially it is fetish content, the cnc is as its named (consensual), these men/women are porn actors and this is their chosen medium
people can and do have their own thoughts about the existence of hardcore fetish content like cnc but its not the point here at all, the point is that in this case it is a fetish and it is not real
this cnn reporter found a cnc video on motherless and in the comments someone linked a telegram channel that had less than a hundred members (still a lot! still that is very very much worth talking about!) that was "sharing tips" to other men about how to drug and take advantage of their wives/gfs. this really is the story here, it's frightening and extremely gross, and if they had kept it straightforward there wouldnt an issue
however, and this is where i say its fearmongering, they instead heavily implied (kind of even straight up insisted) that every single visitor to motherless was a member of this "online rape academy" on telegram. when this is just extremely not true. they found the 65 million number by figuring out the number of hits to the website, which doesnt include visitors who have gone to the website multiple times either obviously, but thats less the point
i have seen women all over the internet talking about this 65 million number without looking further into it and when you put it like that, it sounds beyond terrifying. but these visitors to a fetish content website know that what they are seeing is fake and consensual. the content is labeled as cnc. and cnc was not at all the only category on the website, they hosted all things fetish, a lot of them relatively tame, like piss kink and feet and femdom stuff. not everyone went to motherless for cnc. you can also find cnc on most other porn hosting websites
again. you can have your own feelings about this. some people are extremely uncomfortable with fetish content and never want to see it or engage with it. other people do. fact of life
but the number 65 million is intentionally misleading and honestly i think its worth pointing out that throwing that number out and having people accept it at face value will directly push people in the direction of repealing sosta-festa which would be the end of the internet as we know it
and i cant help but think. well. that is intentional
