What's the first "big news story" you remember from when you were a kid?

It's something I love to ask mixed-aged groups sometimes because I think it's really interesting to see the responses. I've gotten answers from the Olympics of [whatever year] to Watergate to more recent stuff from my niblings.

My first news thing I remember is the OJ Simpson trial. I vaguely remember watching the news with my grandparents before that, but that's the first story I remember, in part because my second grade teacher had us go play so she could watch the verdict 😂

3- i will pause occasionally to have brief discussions about the movie

4- frequently discussing movie stuff. might talk over dialogue occasionally

5- it's just nonstop. can't enjoy the film if im not engaging with it!!

I got a job at a gas station across from a casino and a guy keeps coming in to buy whole cartons of cigarettes and talks in the third person calling himself "snake eyes pete" and every time I tell him his total hes like "tell ya what if old Pete rolls a snake eyes why dont you give it to him for free?" and he rolls the same set of loaded dice on the counter and it does not matter how many times he rolls snake eyes I will not give him the cartons for free he gets so mad

okay since i've gotten a lot of questions about this lately, let me be perfectly clear: ghouls are creatures that are scary. they are ghoulish in appearance and behave in a scary fashion. they are great pets or companions or friends for those who live in crypts, mausoleums, catacombs, lairs, derelict churches or dracula castles. ghouls are dangerous and attack without mercy regardless of target. a ghoul is a lovely creature and a friends for life
