Also if you’re going to commit vandalism don’t dress suspicious, if you need to carry more supplies than you can carry in your hands a nondescript bag will be your best friend, make sure you have an excuse prepared for if someone sees you, and if you want to put something up high like a street light be sure you and whoever you’re with practices getting to high places before you go out
And I can’t stress enough to figure out what areas have security cameras before you go out, make sure you’re in an area without cameras or that you stay in the cameras blind spots, but it helps to go scope things out a day or two before so you can plan
important reminder that most people you follow online are significantly lamer than you think they are including me. and if you feel insecure comparing yourself to someone online: DON'T. theyre probably also lame and weird. most people on the internet are
I think it would be funny to write a murder mystery where not only did every single character involved have an obvious motive to kill this mf, they were actually all attempting to murder him first, but the murder attempts all cancelled each other out all except for one. Two people tried to poison him but the poisons just happen to work as antidotes for each other, and instead of killing him only gave him the shits, and due to having the shits he couldn't go hunting that day like he had planned, foiling the plans of the one who had conditioned his favourite hunting horse to panic and bolt at the cue of a whistle, and the other murder attempt of tampering with his gun so that it would have exploded his whole face off.
The whole mystery isn't about who could have done it or how, but who was the one who got lucky and actually succeeded.
When I was in high school a friend of mine would host murder mystery dinners once or twice a year. They were the kind you could buy as a kit -- I don't even know if they exist anymore -- and everyone was assigned (or chose) a character, then received a booklet of clues to share. The idea was to spend an evening in a one-shot LARP designed like an Agatha Christie novel.
I was a year above most of them at school so they threw a "goodbye" murder mystery for me just before graduation, and about 2/3 of the way through the game we all realized that everyone had at least attempted to kill the victim. The game then shifted from "whodunnit" to "who succeeded in dunninit" which we all felt was not only super fun but above the usual level of narrative complexity for those games.
After we solved it, we discovered that the game wasn't from a kit -- the host had written it herself and meticulously printed out the booklets in replica style of the kits. It was the best going-away party I think I could possibly have had.
I hate the whole liberal philosophy of non violence. Non violence is only going to lead more people to die, if you are being violently oppressed you need to fight back you cant just ask nicely or write a strongly worded letter.
All it means when people say “you’re speaking from a place of privilege” is that you’re likely to underestimate how bad the problem is by default because you are never personally exposed to that problem. It’s not a moral judgement of how difficult your life is.
It's fun when the robot character in the sci-fi show gets cut in half because nobody working on this type of media knows anything about robotics and you never know what you're going to find inside. Green printed circuit boards? Meat and viscera, but like in a weird colour? Just a shitload of goo?
I especially like it when the robot appears to have realistic musculature which operates via contraction, suggesting some sort of fluid-driven or shape-memory-based actuation, and then it gets dismembered and a bunch of random gears and sprockets go flying everywhere.
I like to think my engineers foresaw the likelihood of my bisection and designed a clean break point with that in mind, leaving a small compartment filled with confetti
The thing is, no matter how hard they try not to, it is inevitable for any and all Polytrix kids to end up at least a little bit spoiled. They are three absurdly wealthy individuals who had some pretty bad upbringings and wanna give their children the childhoods they never got to have, and they just wanna give their kids the world.
Rumi and Mira struggle with saying no to their kids more than Zoey does, especially when it comes to buying things, considering their class differences growing up (while Zoey isn’t necessarily averse to spending a lot of money on stupid shit, she still is way more likely to stop to think about the price tag of something than they are). However they do all have to a bit of an intervention eventually about putting their foot down more.
And no matter how well raised they are, almost every kid at some point or another will tell their parents they hate them when they don’t get their way on something. It happens at least once for most children, and even absolutely adored children like the Polytrix kids are no exception.
The first time it happens with one of their kids it sends whoever they said it to into absolutely hysterics the moment their child isn’t in the room. Like inconsolable sobbing, curled up in their wives’ arms, wailing “THEY HATE ME 😭😭😭😭😭 WHAT AM I GONNA DO OUR BABY HATES ME”
And of course their wives are like “no baby they don’t hate you they’re just angry they didn’t get their way, but it’ll pass and they’ll be back to tell you they love you soon”. Which always ends up coming true by the end of the night because the Polytrix kids may be a little spoiled but they also are sweethearts and they love their moms so they always say sorry and that they love them.
After that they start sobbing again because “OH OUR BABY LOVES ME THEY REALLY LOVE ME 😭😭🥹🥹🥹🥹”
No matter how many times it happens, and with which kids it happens with, and whether it’s Rumi, Mira, or Zoey that it happens to, every time one of their kids pulls the “I hate you!” card it goes down like this
someone manages to get a picture of celine and poppy out on a date with miyeong, even though they’re pretty well disguised and are at a venue that is supposed to be very good for celebrities who wanna go incognito (look, they were never gonna keep miyeong from going out. that would be cruel if they kept her holed up for the rest of her newfound life). the general public freaks out, especially because they don’t immediately recognize it as miyeong (both due to the disguises and the sheer impossibility of it being her).
at first its just because celine and poppy are out on a date with another woman. “does miyeong mean nothing to you? 😡” and “i guess they found a replacement third 30 years later 🙄” become common sentiments they see online. celine releases a statement that miyeong is irreplaceable, but does not further comment on the situation, which just allows further speculation.
then people notice how young she is. the two of them start getting called cradle-robbers. people talk about how gross it is that they’re dating a woman who looks even younger than their adoptive daughter. people call miyeong a gold digger. miyeong (who is completely unfamiliar with social media) wants to respond to these allegations, but the whole squad tells her that will definitely make the situation worse.
and then people start to notice just much she looks like miyeong. they joke that celine and poppy have a type. that this is probably just some sugar baby of theirs, and they were treating her to a nice meal out (this comment, strangely enough, makes miyeong blush bright red and become speechless. rumi has the misfortune of being in the room when this happens, and audibly gags at the realization her mother is Into That). some even suggest that she’s their chosen surrogate mother for another child, because they want this one to come out looking like miyeong (polylight all start sweating a bit when they read this, because the rest of the family is in the room at the time, and they have yet to tell them about miyeong being pregnant again).
of course, people then start to realize JUST how much she looks like miyeong. down to the expressions, mannerisms, and everything. new theories about cloning come out (which further supports some people’s theories surrounding sunlight entertainment having access to gene modification technology; see my purple haired baby post). some people suggest that celine kept a locket of miyeong’s hair for decades, just so she could use it to clone her. some suggest that poppy left so she could research cloning technology. others suggest (and this one makes everyone in the room cringe or gag a bit) that this wasnt a case of the clone coming out as a fully grown adult, but rather that celine and/or poppy raised her from infancy, and this was them taking their “daughter” out for lunch.
after that, zoey sees one comment suggesting that it just straight up is miyeong, inexplicably back from the dead, likes it (she has not publicly engaged with anything surrounding this situation prior to this), and then quickly convinces everyone else to log off for a few days by suggesting that looking at this stuff all day is just gonna make them more upset, and to just let it blow over.
(three days later, when a crowd of people are gathered outside sunlight entertainment, begging for help reviving their dead loved ones, zoey has her twitter privileges revoked for six months)
rumi catching zoey when she’s about to fall by holding her arm out for zoey to grip onto. zoey feeling just how muscled she is. rumi asks her if she’s okay. zoey keeps holding onto her arm. her hands squeeze her arm tighter. rumi stares at her in concern. “zoey?” zoey lifts her arm up to her face. “what are you-” and then zoey CHOMPS rumi’s arm. rumi is more stunned then hurt, watching zoey chew on her bicep.
about a decade post-canon, about 3 years after the birth of the polytrix triplets and 2 after the birth of popline’s daughter hayun, celine goes out one morning to see a figure, sitting under the hunter’s tree
its miyeong. at first, celine thinks its a mimic, or a ghost, or a hallucination, but miyeong stands up and turns around to look at celine, and she seems genuinely shocked when she looks at her
“celine?! what happened to you? did a demon accelerate your age or something?!” she starts flitting around, checking celine all over to make sure she’s okay, and celine is too stunned to say or do anything. she can feel her. she’s physically present.
that gets further confirmed when poppy suddenly arrives. “cece? where’d you go? our little terror is demanding a rematch of tic tac toe and-” she freezes when she sees miyeong.
miyeong gasps when she sees her. “pops! the demon got you too?!” she goes to examine her next.
poppy gawks at miyeong. stares up at celine in shock. celine stares back.
“how are you alive?” poppy asks her.
miyeong stops. “what? why wouldnt i be alive?”
as it turns out. miyeong doesn’t remember having died. she doesn’t even remember getting sick.
“whats the last thing you remember, miyeong?” celine asks her carefully, after miyeong has had the initial existential crisis surrounding coming back to life.
“i think i had just laid down in bed. i was really tired, because rumi-“ and then she stops. her eyes go wide. “RUMI?! where is rumi?! wait, you said something about a ‘little terror’, pops. thats rumi, right?” she asks her hopefully.
poppy curses. “shit. no, but we do need to get back.”
celine glares. “you left her alone?”
“well, duh. who was i supposed to leave her with?”
they start bickering as the walk back, and miyeong follows, utterly confused and more than a little distraught. “wait, wait! where’s-where’s rumi then? who’s this little ‘little terror’ if its not her?”
poppy and celine share a look. celine sighs, and decides to bite the bullet. “the ‘little terror’ is hayun, our daughter. and rumi is fine. she just doesn’t live here anymore.”
its miyeongs turn to gawk. “what do you mean you have a daughter? how do you have a daughter? and why doesnt rumi live here anymore?”
poppy frowns. “mimi, i obviously dont expect you to know the exact number, but can you really not tell how long its been since you died?”
miyeong shrugs. “not…not really?”
celine stops right before they enter the house. she puts a hand on miyeongs shoulder. “ miyeong. rumi doesn’t live here anymore because she’s 30. she moved out.”
“30?!” miyeong shouts.
poppy hums. “33, really.”
miyeong sputters. “well, when did she move out?”
“about,” celine thinks about it for a moment, “14 years ago, i think? no, that was when they got the penthouse. 15, then. they had that dingy apartment they insisted on living in for a year. i think they wanted the independence of being on their own for the first time.” celine rolls her eyes, but smiles fondly.
“who’s ‘they’?” miyeong asks, confused.
before celine or poppy can answer, they heard a loud noise from inside. “shit,” poppy groans, “c’mon. let’s get in there.”
when they enter, miyeong sees a tiny black-haired whirlwind running about the room. it’s giggling and jumping and dodging poppy’s arms when she reaches out to grab it and bounces off of celines head when she dives to catch it, until it suddenly comes to a stop in front of miyeong.
“woah!” the whirlwind, now a little girl, shouts in amazement, looking up at miyeong, “new person! new person! who are you?” she grabs miyeong’s limp hand and start jumping up and down with it.
poppy brushes herself off and picks her up. “hayhay! you cant just grab people you dont know’s hands!” she sighs. “sorry. she doesn’t meet new people often.”
miyeong, utterly stunned by the sight of this little girl who looks (impossibly) just like celine and poppy, and (impossibly) only a few years old, chokes out, “its fine.”
but she gathers herself, then, and asks, “wait, if rumi is 33, then that’d make you guys 60 and 59. how do you have a-a-“ miyeong smiles placatingly at hayun, “how old are you, sweetheart?”
hayun opens her mouth to answer, but frowns, because she cant remember numbers that well yet. she looks up at poppy pleadingly. poppy whispers something in her ear. hayun nods and smiles. “im two!”
miyeong, definitely endeared by the sight of that and now wondering if poppy ever did something like that with her rumi (hint: she didn’t, but miyeong doesnt need to know that yet), nods back. “wow! so big!”
“not as big as riri, jiji, and nini, though,” hayun pouts. “theyre all bigger than me, but they shouldnt be.”
miyeong looks at celine and poppy questioningly. they both shake their heads. “later,” poppy mouths.
miyeong sighs, “anyways, how is you guys have a 2 year old, when you’re as old as you are? and why does she look so much like both of you?”
“magic,” poppy shrugs. celine glares at her.
miyeong rolls her eyes. “haha, very funny. but really?”
they arent smiling.
miyeongs eyes bug out of her head. “you’re serious? how?!”
celine looks at hayun and winces. “another explanation that would be better saved for later. come on, let’s go have some breakfast. you’re probably starving.”
they eat breakfast mostly in silence. only mostly, because hayun is talking at a mile a minute. she does so with food in her mouth at multiple points, no matter how many times celine chastises her. “ruru, zozo, and mimi do it though!”
miyeong startles at the name “ruru”, but celine rolls her eyes. “yes, well, the three of them refused to listen to me whenever i tried to discourage that behavior, but that doesnt mean you have to, too.”
miyeong nearly chokes on her food, “MORE children?” she asks.
poppy chuckles, “in a sense.”
before miyeong can ask anymore (it seems no one will let her ask follow up questions today), hayun continues on her ramble.
after breakfast, though, hayun wont stop yawning, and celine insists its time for her midmorning nap. “but i just woke up, eomma!” she stamps her foot, but lets herself be picked up by celine.
poppy snorts. “yes, and then you ran around the living room and spent all of breakfast talking. face it, you tuckered yourself out, little lightning bug!”
miyeong watches them put hayun down for a nap, wishing she had been around to see them do the same with rumi.
afterwards, they tell her almost everything. that “ruru”, as she probably guessed, is rumi, and that “zozo” and “mimi” (“their mimi, not our mimi. you’ll always be our mimi,” poppy reassures) are zoey and mira, rumi’s best friends, bandmates, fellow hunters, and wives. (“poly, just like us!” poppy grins, “runs in the family it seems!”).
they they then explain how they had their daughter. “it was an accident,” celine starts, before rushing to clarify, “a happy accident, of course, but neither of us knew it would happen. we both figured, because we were in our late 50s, nothing would happen if it we used it, too. and for years, nothing did happen!”
“what is ‘it’?” miyeong asks.
celine winces. “the honmoon…that is…it’s-“
poppy cuts her off. “they called it the ‘honstrap’. rumi and her wives, that is.”
celine cringes. “such an awful name.”
poppy laughs. “don’t tell zoey that, she might cry.”
“‘honstrap’?” miyeong asks.
“it’s a strap on, but you summon it from the honmoon!” poppy grins.
“you can do that?!”
poppy nods excitedly, smirking. “oh yeah. zoeys the one who figured it out, apparently, and thank god for her. for more than just that, of course, i love the woman. but man, that thing!” she whistles. “what a discovery!”
miyeong raises an eyebrow. “that good?”
“oh yeah. because its not just a strap on that weirdly also has the ability to knock someone up when you use it on them. you can feel it like its your actual cock, mimi. its great!”
miyeongs eyes widen. suddenly, she’s feeling very interested in the honstrap. but for now, she gulps. “um, you guys mentioned that you thought nothing would happen if you guys used because of your age, right? so that means you knew it was a thing could happen? getting pregnant, that is?”
celine nods, “yes. because we weren’t the first.” she sighs. “the ‘riri’, ‘jiji’, and ‘nini’ hayun mentioned are aeri, jihae, and hani. they’re rumi’s daughters with zoey and mira. the three of them all share dna with each of their mothers, which was a fascinating discovery-“
“im a grandmother?!” miyeong shouts, shocked.
poppy chimes in, “yup. thats also why hayun was saying she should be bigger than the three of them; she knows most aunts are bigger than their nieces.”
the reminder, then, that after her death, poppy and celine (unbeknownst to her, it was just celine) took care of and raised her daughter, that their daughter considers rumi her sister, suddenly overwhelms her, and she rushes forward towards them, thanking them for taking care of her, and raising her despite rumi being a half demon (she knows that was an issue for both of them), and she goes in to kiss them-
they flinch away.
she stops, suddenly realizing that she was about to kiss two people who havent been with her in 33 years. it breaks her heart to think it, but its possible theyre no longer in love with her.
(they are still incredibly in love with her. but theyre both around 60, and she’s still 28, and they’re both ashamed of what they’ve done to rumi. they couldnt possibly kiss miyeong without her knowing about that.)
miyeong frowns, heartbroken, and excuses herself to go process somewhere.
they give her her own room that night, and despite the fact they yearn to all sleep in the same bed, miyeong sleep apart from her two lovers
they tiptoe around each other for weeks, all of them wanting and needing but holding back for various reasons.
hayun starts to get used to miyeongs presence. she calls her “auntie” at first, which makes celine and poppy cringe, but eventually starts calling her “mama mimi”, to differentiate her from just plain old “mimi”.
speaking of mira, rumi, mira, and zoey, as well as their daughters, come to visit to meet miyeong.
miyeong cries when she sees 33 year old rumi, who is awkwardly in awe at her. “look how beautiful you are!” miyeong coos, holding rumi’s face, “your patterns! ive never seen ones that color before! how gorgeous!” rumi blushes and thanks her.
she gushes over her grandchildren next, about how pretty they all are, how fast aeri is when she shows off her running speed, how smart jihae is when she talks about plants (she’s just started gardening with her mama), and how sweet hani is when she gets shy around miyeong.
and of course, she cant help but be excited by how perfect her daughter in laws seem. zoey stares at her in awe the entire time, and miyeong laughs. “im guessing she was a fan?” shes surprised to see rumi and mira glaring at their wife and grumbling in affirmation.
(the next day, when zoey struggles to sit properly, she gets it.)
overtime, things change, of course. she starts to see how longingly poppy and celine look at her, and she starts to realize that she maybe had the situation wrong, and that they were just insecure because of the age difference.
and so, one day, she asks to talk to them privately. when its just the three of them, she reassures them that she still loves them, that she still wants them, that she doesn’t care that theyre both either 60 or pushing it, she still thinks they’re incredibly hot and wants to be with them. that she’s been touching herself thinking of them almost every night (that fact makes celine and poppy’s faces turn a shade of red she hasn’t seen in months). “you may be twice my age now technically, but i’m still your unnie,” miyeong smirks, now fully confident they still want her.
she tries again, to kiss them, but they stop her again. she whines, asks why they cant just be together when they clearly want her too, but then celine and poppy tell her that it wouldnt be right, that they couldnt sleep with her, not until they tell her what theyve done. they dont want her regretting being with them.
miyeong is taken aback, but asks them to explain. to tell her what it is they did that makes them feel to guilty to sleep with her.
and so they do.
poppy tells her about how she walked out on rumi and celine after miyeong died. that the grief of losing her, the resentment over the fact that a guy was able to catch her attention long enough to put a baby in her, but didnt stick around long enough to find out about said baby, that that man’s baby killed miyeong eventually (which, she’s quick to clarify, was something she only thought at the time, and isn’t even remotely what she thinks now), and that she only returned less than a decade ago. rumi took several months before she even considered her anything close to a mother figure.
while miyeong’s still reeling from that, celine then explains everything revolving her relationship with rumi. everything about the patterns, and concealing them, and the golden honmoon, and even the night of the idol awards. that it wasnt until a decade ago that rumi felt comfortable showing off her patterns, and that it was mira and zoey, not celine, who were responsible for making her feel that way. that it took celine another few months afterwards to come to terms with them herself.
it leaves miyeong disoriented. so much of what she’d spent the last few weeks favorably believing of her two loves has been incorrect. she left her baby in hands that either retreated or were discouraging. she runs off, unable to face them right now, feeling sick.
she gets why they didnt want her to sleep with them now. she imagines she wouldve felt even worse if they had.
it takes weeks for her to even look them in the eyes again. it takes months before she can speak to them for more than a minute at a time. it takes a year for her to not feel sick when they’re in the room with her.
they ask her, at several points, if she would rather live somewhere else. tell her that they could buy her her own place so she won’t have to face them. she declines every time, ostensibly because she loves hayun too much at this point to leave her, but also, secretly, because she can’t bear to be away from them, either. she still loves them, as much as it hurts her to do so.
its not until just over a year and a half afterwards, when the triplets are now 5, and rumi and her wives are starting to prep for their upcoming baby, and miyeong comes over to help them move some stuff around, that she sits and talks to rumi about it all. she asks her how she feels now, how rumi can still stomach being in a room with poppy when she left rumi, how she can still love celine when celine couldnt love all of her for over two decades.
rumi explains that it wasnt always easy. that it took time. that once she and celine sat down to talk after the idol awards, and celine apologized for everything, and started making the effort to be better, that they started to heal. that celine did love her, she just couldnt see past what she’d been taught until she realized just much it was hurting rumi. it didn’t happen in a day, or a week, or a month, or even a year. it was a continuous healing process.
with poppy it was more difficult. she knew her in scattered fragments that she received from celine of her. she didnt have any personal emotional connections to her. all she knew was that she hurt her eomma. but it was once celine and poppy got engaged, and once poppy started helping the people rumi loves, that she started to accept her into her life.
she calls celine eomma. she calls poppy eomeoni.
miyeong frowns. “how long will it take for me?”
rumi shrugs. “could take a few more days. could take a few more weeks. could take a few more months, or maybe years. or maybe you won’t forgive them at all.”
“even if they’ve apologized?”
“zoeys mom sucks ass, and she apologized a dozen times over. she even begged to see her grandkids.” rumi scoffs. “zoey told her to kicks rocks with open toed shoes and hung up on her.”
miyeong laughs. “your zoey is a marvel.”
rumi grins. “she is. mira, too. her brother’s tried the same thing with her, and she comes up with some of the most creative insults ive ever heard whenever he does.” she puts an arm around her mother’s shoulders. it’s strange to be comforting her long-dead now-alive mother, for her to be visibly 5 years younger than rumi, but then again, when has rumis life ever been normal? “my point is, if you decide you dont wanna forgive them, you dont have to. you never have to. you dont even have to come to your decision anytime soon. its all up to you.”
miyeong hugs her daughter, in utter awe of how wonderful she turned out.
she does, eventually, find it in her heart to forgive celine and poppy. its not until a few weeks after the birth of their grandson, several months later, but she does forgive them.
one night, just as they’re finishing up cleaning after dinner, miyeong starts to convince hayun to go to bed early. hayun, now 4, whines and complains to her mama about it, but she worships the ground miyeong walks on and does what she says.
celine and poppy, even though they’re confused as to why she did that, both chuckle, and joke about how hayun only ever listens to her, they swear.
but then miyeong turns to them, a heated look in her eyes they havent seen in years. “take me to bed,” she tells them.
theyre stunned at first, but then she says, “Now,” and they’re off.
the entire time they’re making the way to their bedroom, and stripping her naked, and even when they’re already inside of her, they keep asking her if she’s sure. they don’t want her regretting this. she reassures them each time.
afterwards, she curls around them, pulling them closer to her. “i dont regret it,” she tells them before falling asleep.
she says it again the next morning, just before she pounces on them with fingers and tongue.
she says it two days later, when her and celine are in the shower together, right as she sinks to her knees in front of her.
she says it the day after that when she’s pressed up against poppy’s back, fingers buried in her pants while she pushed her into a tree.
she says it each time she sleeps with them for months and months, until the question in their eyes melts away.
(after that, the subject of the honstrap comes up multiple times. she keeps trying to hint at them that she would live to see how it feels inside her, or to be wearing it. for purely academic reasons, of course.
she gets more overt after that, thinking they’re just not getting her ultimate goal. “dont you guys think rumi and hayun could use another sister?” she asks one night, while sitting, naked, and grinding into celine’s lap.
poppy looks like she’s about to start considering her offer, but celine is stern. “we are in our 60s. we could not handle another child at this point.”
poppy scoffs. “hayun was a fluke. a miraculous one. but a fluke nonetheless. there’s almost no way that would even happen again.”
“you just wanna bury your cock inside her,” celine glares.
poppy shrugs, “and? you don’t?”
they both wind up inside her that night.
when miyeong places three positive pregnancy tests on the coffee table in front of the couch while theyre watching tv three weeks later, they both pass out.)
do you think rumi wrote anything for mira and zoey to read should the golden honmoon kill her?
maybe even two versions of each letter for them, because she couldn’t decide if she wanted to let them know about her being half-demon after her death or not.
obviously she doesnt give it to them. she doesnt die to the golden honmoon because they dont make it. so the letters just sit in a box in her room back on jeju, where the only person who knew about them was celine, who was asked to give them to their respective recipients in the case of her death (which made celine’s eyes flash with terror and her breath catch in her throat and start coming out funny, but rumi couldnt stop to think about that because shes too busy repressing and hating herself to think about how her death would affect her loved ones)
one day, the three of them visit jeju to go get some of their old stuff, just on a whim or because celine wants to make some space.
and mira and zoey find the letters. and they read them (because there are no more secrets between them now, and besides, they’re addressed to them and they look like half a decade old)
by the time they’ve finished reading them, theyre sobbing on floor, leaning on each other for support.
they talk about how proud she is of them. how much she loves them. how in love with them she is. all the things she loves about them. how she’s so glad they were the ones chosen by the honmoon to be her teammates, how there’s nobody in the world she would’ve rather been hunters with.
she leaves them guitars and pianos. divies up stuffed animals that would’ve felt even more lifeless without her there. she tells them which hoodies they can each have, because she knows they love her hoodies (they love them because they’re rumi’s, because they smell like her. eventually, they’d stop doing that, and they’d just be some clothes).
she ends the letters by telling them that she’s proud to have died for a cause as worthy as the golden honmoon. to not spend the rest of their lives mourning her because they deserve a life of peace and freedom from the heavy responsibility thrusted upon them by the universe, and thoughts of her will only weigh them down.
and thats just the non reveal letters.
they crack open the other letters addressed to them, expecting, hoping to see a happier version of those letters, one for when she didn’t die when they made the golden honmoon.
they’re not. they’re almost the exact same letters, but theres a section in each of them of her confessing to be a demon. not even half demon. she just figured if she died, then she must be a demon, full stop. she apologizes for not telling them. for not trusting them with the information. for being a monster (zoey almost throws up when she reads that. mira almost tears the paper to shreds). she tells them they shouldnt mourn her, becomes demons are unworthy of any grief dedicated to them.
its about this point that rumi finally walks into the room. shes been helping celine with some stuff in another room, and celine got suspicious when they couldn’t hear the two of them for a while, because usually that meant they were up to something.
rumi comes in, cheerful and curious, saying “hey guys! what are up to…”
she sees the letters. sees the devastation in their faces. she rushes to explain, tries to tell them “i swear i was gonna burn those! i just forgot! they kind of became irrelevant after the golden honmoon thing became a bust anyways! i-“ as she speaks, they approach her, slowly inching towards her until their right in her face.
they grab it. both of them look at her, inspecting her skin, trace her patterns, delicately at first then firmer. she lets them inspect her, unsure of what it is theyre looking for, until they both have a hand over her heart. they gasp in sync with her heartbeat.
and then they break out in sobs, hugging her from either side, crying about how much they love her, how glad they are that she’s still here, how the golden honmoon would’ve meant nothing to them if it had killed her, how they’re glad they’ll never see it now.
she can barely keep up with what they’re saying because theyre a little incoherent and they’re kind of talking over one another and they’re talking kinda fast, and then they start kissing her and her mind goes a little blank
(celine finds them mid-life-affirming-sex, and mira and zoey barely stop what theyre doing to rumi to yell at her to get out, partly because they wanna keep going and can’t while she’s there, and partly because they cant look at her right now after reading those letters without feeling a little sick.
rumi, for her part, doesn’t even realize celine had entered the room. she just lets out a moan of bliss when the two of them continue ravaging her.)
