Sometimes I genuinely feel like I’m physically incapable of being sociable, even though I really want to be .-.

I’m so bad at making contacts and especially, especially, keeping them.

The problem is, I’m constantly masking when I’m around people, and it stresses me out so much.

I’ve always managed to mask well enough to get by, but now, as an adult, I feel like I don’t even know how to have a normal conversation anymore.

All of it is exhausting. And because it’s exhausting, I end up avoiding interactions as much as possible, just so I'm not perceived as weird or uncomfortable or like...wrong.

Sigh.

Sneak peak:

“First time meeting a ghost, huh? Then I guess weird is still an understatement“

“Tell me about it.” Phil grins before shrugging thankful for the switch in mood. “But honestly? Less weird than I thought it would be.”

Dan grins back at him. “You thought about this?”

“Sometimes. Have you never?”

Dan opens his mouth, then closes it again before shifting so he faces Phil completely.

“It did come up in conversations.” Another grin spreads across his face. His eyes changing to an expression that makes Phil’s stomach flutter. “Would you sleep with a ghost?”

Phil has made the bad choice of throwing another handful of popcorn into his mouth in exactly that moment and chokes.

Not dramatically. Not enough to count as a near-death experience, though given his current company, maybe those are not as final as he used to believe anyway. But he does choke enough that a piece of popcorn gets stuck somewhere halfway between his throat and his soul.

Dan’s grin widens immediately.

“Oh my god.”

Phil coughs, one hand pressed against his chest while the other blindly searches for his mug he had set to the side earlier.

“What?” He croaks.

“You are blushing.”

“I am not.”

“You are so blushing.”

“I am choking.”

“You can do both.”
