Children of Blood and Bone
So I just finished a book called Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi. And man did that make me think.
Especially after I read the author's note.
I wish we lived in a world where people weren't killed for dumbshit reasons like color or sexuality. Where their killers only excuse isn't "it looked like they were reaching for a weapon". With adults, I kinda get it, but kids as young as 15 to 7? Call me crazy, but I don't understand.
I just wish we lived in a world where every race wasn't prejudiced against each other. Where we could love and respect each other without having riots over one group's mistreatment of the other-- regardless of race.
I wish we lived in a world where you could be gay, be straight, be trans, be cis, be black, be white, be Asian, be Hispanic, be Republican, be Democratic, be a woman, be a man, be YOU without others pointing at you and telling you to stay in your lane.
Of course, addressing some of the problems we have will raise more problems, but that's life. That's the freedom we struggled for when we left Britan. When we set the slaves free. When we gave the gays the right to marry. So why should we close our ears and hearts now?
It hurts me so bad to think about all this hate people of all kinds spread. It makes no sense.
If you read this, please, I'm begging you.
Choose love. Not hate.
Choose to understand.
Listen to what others have to say, even if their views conflict with yours. Come to compromises. Come together as humans to fix the messed we made together.
Otherwise, we are going to slaughter each other.
