Grown Ups
Day nothing - Favorite Genre - Tactical RPG
A strange choice maybe, but something about the crackhead chess on speed head-hurting strategy and ludicrous class based team building really facilitates sweeping addictions in me. I could use a few more in my collection in fact :3
stupid durian…
Day Irrelevant at this point - Video Game Setting that you would like to live in
I must say, I'm a bit of a sucker for tropical-type weather, and everything about Delfino Plaza and the surrounding area just seems so blissful and filled with peace. I mean, perhaps I'd like more excitement in my life eventually – but a summer house??? Oh shit fucking yeah! Gimme it!
Samus Aran by SplashBrush
Day something: Favorite Protagonist
A smidgen of a hard choice, but in terms of a strong ass protagonist whose plight you can still sink your teeth into while still leaving much open to interpretation, Samus is it. Metroid is (was???) a dark, lonely, unkind series, and Samus was fantastic as the mysterious, quiet, and calm center to the storm that surrounded her. She didn't speak, not because she had nothing to say (as was indicated in the fantastic Metroid Prime) but because of the weight of realization that there was no one to talk to. It blends a vital bit of humanity just as the shattering of suit upon death in Super Metroid did - Samus is mighty yet vulnerable – not that she'd ever let that vulnerability thing show. Until, you know, Nintendo went all fan-servicey with Zero Suit and Other M. But hey, we have up until like 2006. That's a lot of great hero for ya.
Yo I totally crashed a car today cuz the brakes completely locked up I was told I could’ve been seriously injured I caused property destruction (bus sign) I got a ticket I fucked up big time
so, like, it’s all the things ingredients for the “being able to laugh at after trauma” club in my mind.

“Now shall the events set into motion so long ago be made complete. For the Protoss, too, were created by the Xel'Naga. They were the first creation, gifted with a purity of form. And we were the second creation, blessed with a purity of essence. Indeed, our two species are but opposite facets of a greater whole. Soon shall our two races be made as one. Thenceforth shall all feel the wrath of the eternal Swarm… For the hour of judgement is come!”
-The Overmind, “StarCraft”
Day 17 - Favorite antagonist.
Incredible. One of the most sinister, hardcore, devious and dangerous villains to ever exist. A superb orator with a single-minded vision and innumerable, unkillable, ever-adaptable and viscous broods all at their command. Made scarier still by how driven the Overmind was and the force with which their plans were enacted. To give you a sense of how hard this motherfucker was, Dark Templar Zeratul killed one of their lower agents, which gave the swarm complete access to the knowledge in Zeratul's mind, which they used to burn Aiur to the ground. DAMN. Sorry Kerrigan, you could never beat the true brain of the Swarm. Especially not after that face turn in SCII.
Emotional Baggage
Day 16 - Game with the best cut scenes.
I'm very skeptical of flashier, bigger, shinier, more impressive and ever more “cinematic” cutscenes in video games, so that's why I appreciate Psychonauts. Because there are cut scenes but they don't seem to have that any of that sense of self-conscious aping or imitation of overblown action movies and instead rides the strength of the characters and the v
Day 15 - Post a screenshot from the game you’re playing right now.

My rock bottom is listening to 3rd wave ska while eating oily tortillas
Day 14 - Current (or most recent) gaming wallpaper.
OK, Starcraft II may be something of a bust in some ways, but I still worship the Zerg. And Mutalisks in particular. They're...so...coooooool!!!!
I will forever love the storybook-feel of the original Paper Mario.
Day 13 - A game you’ve played more than five times
OK, I'm not sure I beat this “five” times quite, but hey man, whatever. I beat it a lot. Maybe it was trounced in quality by the sequel, but this was my actual first RPG and a first step down a long sad road that has never seemed to end. Ah well, I'll always love Parakarry and Sushi anyway.
This fanart is great, it captures the spirit perfectly :3
It took me a couple of months, but I’m very proud of my self made tetris blanket :)
Day 12 - A game everyone should play.
An...unambitious choice, I admit. But I bet there are hardcore anti-video game types out there who've never even gotten their hands on this one. Which is a disgrace, of course. It's important that people at least understand video games as a synergy of computer randomization, fast thinking and decision making, problem solving, environmental interaction and your experiencing of all of these factors packaged in a way that is distinctly “video game”. Tetris can do that! So, ya know, it's not just rampant young person brainwashing and idiocy like these uncurious, ignorant old folks seem to think it is. I love this patchwork btw.
Video Game Challenge, day 11: Gaming System of Choice One of the last great pure gaming machines, with a fantastically ergomnomic cotroller suited to anything but fighting games and a great library of titles. Sure, it was mocked as the lunchbox, but I've seen broken PS2's, I haven't seen a broken Gamecube.
