Let It Snow, and Snow, and Snow...

The Bagginshield Book Club server ( @bagginshieldbookclub) just hosted our second annual Midwinter Gift Exchange! This was an amazing event that sparked so many beautiful, creative works. If you're looking for great holiday entertainment this season, our theme was "Snowed In" and these projects absolutely delivered!

Perhaps Love by @shantismurf Winter in Erebor has set in quickly this year, one full year after the Battle of Five Armies, and word has reached the mountain of dangerous conditions in the passes of the Misty Mountains. Unfortunately, this coincides with the late departure of Kili, Tauriel, and Bilbo from the Shire, bringing Bilbo's most precious belongings back to the mountain where he plans to make his home. A rescue party sets out from Erebor, unsure if they can reach them in time, or what they might find when they do.

Snowswept by @shipper47 Due to a mix-up with the booking site, Bilbo and Thorin find themselves unexpectedly sharing a cabin. Things only get more complicated when they wake to find that they'll be spending more time together than they'd thought. At least their nephews are having the time of their lives. Or! They get snowed in!

A taste for you by @consultingpacha Six years before the Quest to recover Erebor, Bilbo meets Thorin at the Shire during a storm, and after that, a tentative friendship begins. But mother nature seems to have developed a taste for them, because that will not be the only time in which a weather's whim has them trapped together in close proximity…

Very rough sketches of an idea I had about Gale being cursed to become a stag centaur (perhaps by a hag, perhaps by some druidic stuff), and having to live with it.

First one is him adapting to waking around with his things inside a set of improvised saddlebags to wear on his back, and talking to Halsin.

Second one is him running and using his shirt as a way to secure an unconscious Astarion on his back, as he tries to take him back to camp and save him.

The people of Aristal hold superstitious beliefs around the Queen’s magical practices, which makes them weary and fearful of divine retribution. So whenever the Queen crosses the palace walls, which is not often, it stirs the rumours anew…

Creating a magic system from scratch is both fun and pain. Like, Im solving some serious plotholes while creating the rules, but my head hurts.

Even if it’s going to show up as a soft system, I need it to be internally hard. The Limitations™️ need to be put in place, at least so I know where to stop.
