Coffee Run with Buck and Eddie.
Mini fic. (Idk man.)
Soft pattering sound of the rain fills Station 118. Itâs a slow shift. Usually, there will be a lot of calls. Mostly traffic emergencies. Maybe the people of Los Angeles choose to stay in today.
Buck releases his phone from his grip, and tilts his head back for a quick readjustment of his eyesight. He has been reading several articles on parenting a four year old since they are all on standby shift. The living situation with Theo has not gone exactly how he expected. Luckily, he has the entire 118 rooting for him. With one specific member going out of his ways to really help him.
Whenever Buck says, âYou know you really donât have to do this, right?â
He will say, âAnd miss seeing you miserable? Not a chance.â
Buck smiles at the memory. Then, he feels a cold set of fingers tapping his forehead so he snaps his eyes open, sitting up straight immediately.
âEddie.â He breathes, looking up at the man.
Eddie smiles at him, âCoffee run?â
Buck stretches his legs, âWe have coffee here.â He even nudges his head towards the kitchen. When his eyes lands on Eddie again, Eddie has that slightly upset frown though he doesnât say anything.
Eddie just nods, eyes not meeting him, âEveryone ordered. Text me if you change your mind.â And he walks away.
Buck watches Eddie walks for approximately three seconds before jogging up to him, âI change my mind.â
Eddie hides the smile and settles for just a nod.
They take the departmental issue truck to the coffee shop. Itâs a quiet drive there, and Buck senses that Eddie is still upset about the coffee run. What else could it be, right?
Eddie has both of his hands on the steering wheel, before Buck slowly peels Eddieâs right hand off it. Eddie is surprised, turning his head towards Buck before focusing back to the road.
He lets Buck rest their hands on his thigh. He lets Buck lace their fingers together. He lets Buck rub circles on his hand.
âAre you mad at me?â Buck asks softly, body already facing Eddie.
Eddie spares a look at Buck, âWhat? Of course, not, Buck.â
Eddie switches their hands so his is the one on top of Buckâs.
âBut you were. At the loft.â He says.
Eddie breathes, trying to reorganise his thoughts and feelings. âI â uh, I think I did. But you did nothing wrong, Buck. I was just excited to have a coffee run with you. So when you â itâs fine. Weâre fine. It was silly.â
Buck feels a soft smile creep onto his face, while still watching Eddie. He sees the way Eddie is turning a pretty shade of pink, especially his cheeks. Buck would never get tired of this specific view.
âOkay,â he finally says.
Coffees are ordered and tucked nicely in the backseat. Buck goes to Eddieâs side of the door, finding him standing there, just a few seconds away from opening his door. He quickly crowds Eddieâs space, making Eddie step back until his back is in contact with the door.
âBuck? What is happening here?â Eddie stares up. Oh, Buck will never be tired of his eyes â so expressive.
âCan I get a kiss?â Buck tilts his head just a little, a small teasing smile. The specific shade of pink makes its comeback on Eddieâs face. He puts up a hand to Buckâs torso, a weak warning.
âBuck, people are watching.â Eddie says.
âNo, they arenât, Eddie.â Buck argues.
Eddie looks around. It is an empty parking lot. Badly illuminated and almost empty, except for the dozens of car parked there. Which, also empty.
âWhatâs going on with you, Buck?â Eddie asks, hypocritically, because his hand drops and snakes to the lower back of Buckâs waist.
âNothing,â he moves closer until he can feel Eddieâs breath on his mouth, âjust making sure my boyfriend is not upset anymore.â
Eddie smirks, knowing damn well his plan worked.
Itâs super easy with Buck. All he has to do is ask for something, pout when denied, then watch Buck make it up to him. He knows Buck play along but he also loves the fact that Buck indulges him to no end.
A hand lands softly on Buckâs cheek, âI am not upset, just â taken aback.â
Buck smiles, all teeth and dimpled, âI know, Iâm sorryââ
Eddie shushes him, âDonât â just kiss me.â
What Eddie asks, Eddie gets â thatâs how Buck thinks.
A touch too soft, too teasingly, does leave Eddie breathless. No matter how many times. Buck holds Eddieâs face in his hands, keeping a steady pressure to their kisses. Eddie snakes his arms around Buckâs composure. He is not going to untuck the perfectly tucked LAFD shirt, but he kneads the skin underneath nonetheless. Buck smiles when he feels Eddie latches himself completely on Buck.
âBuckâŠâ Eddie whispers in between kisses.
Buck hums, taking it as a sign to continue, so he moves his lips down to Eddieâs jaw. Eddie is about to say something but the cold of Buckâs tongue stutters him.
Eddie reaches to his back pocket, and pushes Buck off just slightly. âWait, Buckââ
âWhatââ
Eddie steadies his breath as he shows Buck his phone screen. Captain Han 118 is callingâŠ
âProbably wants to know where we are.â Buck breathes out, gesturing for Eddie to take the call.
âYeah, weâre on our way. Yep, no rendezvous. Right, see you guys.â He answers, all the while Buck peppering silent kisses on his face. At the end of the phone call, Eddie has Buckâs face cupped in his hand.
Buck just smiles at him. Eddie plants a quick, deep kiss, âYouâre a menace, you know? What if Chim heard us?â
Buck shrugs, âHe heard you. Plus, I was being very quiet, okay?â
Eddieâs eyes widen, âNo, no, wait! Whyâd you say the âqâ word?!â
Buckâs eyes widen a fraction before he furrows his eyebrows, âYou donât believe in those.â
Eddie releases his grip, âBut you guys do! Letâs hope itâs not real.â
Buck nods, feeling somewhat uneasy.
âCome on, Eddie. Iâll drive.â
Eddie nods, moving to the passenger door, âLetâs go.â
They arrive at firehouse 20 minutes later, distribute the coffees to everyone and resume to wait for calls.
Buck takes his place beside Eddie on the couch, smiling as he takes his first sipâ
Ring!
Eddie looks at Buck, and Buck looks at him.
Eddie closes his eyes. âMotherfuââ
The End.
