Or⌠the incompetence theory kicks in. People are promoted until they show incompetence in their job. They no longer get promoted but arenât demoted either.
Animorphs really has a way to turn every scifi trope on its head. "Why do alien invasions always start in America?" Actually the body snatchers first landed in a Middle Eastern farming community where they kidnapped the first guy they saw, read his mind, and concluded that, since he was terrified of the US soldiers who had brutally destroyed everything he knew and loved, the US would be the ideal place to center their invasion. This is revealed in the spin-off "Visser" which is an excellent stand-alone book that can be read without any prior knowledge of Animorphs. And you can read it for free and with the author's blessing right here:

The reviews are in!
okay if we're gonna talk about animorphs turning kinda racist alien invasion tropes upside down, i HAVE to share the 'aliens built the pyramids' bait-and-switch. from a scene in which the kids talk to an alien android:
âSo you all pass as humans?â I asked Erek.Â
He nodded. âYes. We live as humans. We play the role of children and then grow older, and eventually our hologram is allowed to âdieâ and we start again as children.â
âHow long has this been going on?â Cassie asked.Â
Erek smiled warmly. âI helped to build the great pyramid.âÂ
âYou designed the pyramids?âÂ
âNo, no, of course not. We have never interfered in human affairs. I was a slave. I helped to quarry the stone.

like, that's just fucking hilarious. yeah aliens were there but they just carried rocks, the design part was 100% the ancient african civilization.
That is an episode of Ancient Aliens Iâd love to watch.
Watterson pulled no punches
I grew up on Calvin and Hobbes... this hits harder as an adult.
The Winter Soldier as young Trump, lol.
Do you actually care about transmascs or do you just like slapping top scars on fictional twinks and talking about boy pussy
Do you actually care about transfems or do you just like talking about girl cock and throwing around performative 'yass queen's and call people 'mommy' on their transition timelines
Do you actually care about nonbinary people or do you just like talking about 'they/them pussy' and drawing skinny white fem-leaning androgynous people and calling them 'nonbinary'
Before this gets much farther: this isn't a post aimed at cis folk only. being transgender does not prevent you from being transphobic.
people reblogging without this last addition are cowards btw
Also responsible for the Roosterteeth shut down, removing several shows from streaming to avoid paying residuals, as well as the scrapped Batgirl and Wile E Coyote vs Acme movies after completion as a tax write off. Thatâs just what I can think of without googling
He's also the reason that the entire company is now under investigation by the Department of Justice:
âWe respectfully urge the Justice Department to investigate the state of competition in affected labor and consumer markets following consummation of this merger, which appears to have enabled Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) to adopt potentially anticompetitive practices that reduce consumer choice and harm workers in affected labor markets.â (x)
So far, two directors have resigned because of this probe, and only a few days after they went, Kevin Trehy - head of physical production - left the company too after 21 years. He was meant to be spearheading the London-based studio for the company.
i'm sorry but this is the only submission to this trend that i'll consider giving any thought to
i say this with 100% sincerity: if you want to know who monica lewkinsky is, she's the person who deserves to be back in the white house more than any person alive and she should get full rights to execute any 1990s comedians of her choice by firing squad. she deserves to be on the $20 bill and have her own monument on the national mall, but instead she's happy with reclaiming the narrative. she should have been america's people's princess instead of diana. we don't deserve her.
Okay, so I did google her and the scandal you mentioned in the tags, and I have two things to say
1. Holy shit
2. Yeah, I think she has the best one for the trend
Somehow, it is one thing to know that people born after 9/11 are now adults, but it is another entirely to understand that there is a cohort of adults who donât know who Monica Lewinsky is.
Yeaaaaah.
I've seen fake Monica tweets before so I double checked this one and I'm delighted to report that it's real
Please correct me if I'm wrong but didn't she get famous for blowing the president? That's about as much as I was ever told about her
Yup. She was perfectly willing and able to walk away. She chose to take part. She's been riding that train ever since.
⌠she was an intern at the White House. Imagine being an intern at the White House right out of college decades before the current wave of feminism. And the *president of the nation* asks you to blow him in the Oval Office. And you want to work in the white house as your full-time job. Do you deny him? Suppose you donât want to do it. Can you deny him?
Iâm thrilled by the modern-day attitudes about this. Genuinely, the way this would go in 2024 is that the intern could say no and tell the press what happened and half of America would support them. But when I was a kid? No way!
And Monica Lewinsky didnât ride a train to fame from this situation. She was Americaâs laughingstock and punching bag for twenty years. She was the butt of every sex joke and the least respected person that everyone knew the name of. She couldnât live any sort of remotely normal life or do the things that she wanted to do because every single person, including all members of the press and every comedian, was out to get her. Every âcancelledâ celebrity nowadays pretends theyâve been treated the way Monica Lewinsky was and you know what, sheâs right that they wouldnât last an hour in her shoes.
Iâm very happy about the cultural shift that has allowed her to come back into the public again. You have to understand how recent this shift was.
Let's here it for @krypti for bringing back that 1990s victim-blaming sexism to give you a single, terrible taste of what Monica Lewinsky went through when it was discovered she, at 21, had a sexual relationship with a 50 year old man who was not just her boss but literally the most powerful man in the world who had already defeated (with the help of his wife) more than one claim of sexual misconduct.
Because, of course, for a young woman in a male-dominated work situation, it was as easy as "she could walk away" while being manipulated by a man over twice her age with literally all the power in the world to destroy her if he wanted to.
Fuck you, krypti. You are recreating the problem.
TWO HOURS AGO: an incredible photo taken by a ut austin student capturing something deeply poetic in my opinion, a line of state troopers eagerly waiting to arrest student protesters standing just behind a sign that reads "what starts here changes the world. its starts with you and what you do each day."
Y'all, the world is sleeping on what NASA just pulled off with Voyager 1
The probe has been sending gibberish science data back to Earth, and scientists feared it was just the probe finally dying. You know, after working for 50 GODDAMN YEARS and LEAVING THE GODDAMN SOLAR SYSTEM and STILL CHURNING OUT GODDAMN DATA.
So they analyzed the gibberish and realized that in it was a total readout of EVERYTHING ON THE PROBE. Data, the programming, hardware specs and status, everything. They realized that one of the chips was malfunctioning.
So what do you do when your probe is 22 Billion km away and needs a fix? Why, you just REPROGRAM THAT ENTIRE GODDAMN THING. Told it to avoid the bad chip, store the data elsewhere.
Sent the new code on April 18th. Got a response on April 20th - yeah, it's so far away that it took that long just to transmit.
And the probe is working again.
From a programmer's perspective, that may be the most fucking impressive thing I have ever heard.
an article on the subject for the curious:
"We're pretty much seeing everything we had hoped for, and that's always good news.â

This. The media would be explicit. The media would make the case over and over again how nepotism was bad and crime families have no place in government.
Trump is given a totally different set of standards. It's beyond a double standard.
