I started noticed the differences between this dinner scene and the one it mirrors from episode one.

Well, number one, Caine is included in the group when he wasn't before. But also before, the table was a long table with everyone just sitting on one side, The Last Supper style. And now, they're sitting at a roundtable, making it easier for everyone to talk and mingle with each other.

Plus before, everyone had the same generic meal (made for them with all the love Bubble was legally allowed to give). Now, everyone has their own personalized meal, a small detail of Caine's control and that control is at the hands of everyone now

I do think the ability to emoji-react is a net win for human communication. not only does it give you an outlet for 'I see and acknowledge this but don't have a verbal response' but it also adds a pleasing alethiometer element to things
