Interestingly, though The Grinch Who Stole Christmas is narrated by Boris Karloff, the big musical number is sung by the late Thurl Ravenscroft - an American voice actor better known as the voice of Tony the Tiger.

My headcanon is that the Grinch and Tony the Tiger had a bad breakup, and “You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch” is the resulting breakup song.

I want the “ten years later” when Tony visits Whoville on business and meets the reformed Grinch whose heart has grown 3 times its usual size. I want them to reminisce over a shared dinner of roast beast and wine, then spend a drunken night together, then realize that maybe things are different and people really do change. I want a 3-act story where there’s a long dark night of soul searching and the realization that maybe we’ve all got a little bit of bad banana with greasy black peel inside us, but that doesn’t mean we can’t make a damned fine banana bread if someone will give us a chance.

Gone For A Minute - Prologue [Bruno Madrigal x Male Reader]

Tonight was the night Mirabel Madrigal should have been blessed with a gift, just as her sisters, cousins, mother, aunt, and uncle all had before her. Her small hand had reached up to the doorknob and grabbed it gently, and yet it faded away in front of her and the entire village.

Her tiny body shook and her eyes filled with tears as she looked up at her abuela, searching for guidance. Alma, who was in the same amount of shock as the little girl was, quickly whisked her away to her parents, who brought her back to the nursery.

You and Bruno had watched it all from the bottom of the staircase. He chewed on his lip and rocked two of his babies in his arms, glancing at you nervously.

Alma appeared back at the top of the stairs and spoke once more.

“Everyone! Your attention, please. Though this night has not exactly gone as planned… Please enjoy yourselves. Enjoy the food and each other. There is no need to worry.” She projected, though she seemed quite worried herself.

Slowly, chatter in the room started up again, and even you found yourself talking to someone. Bruno stood close behind you, tapping his foot. You knew he wanted to talk to Mirabel, but he knew he shouldn’t at the moment. He would occasionally add to the conversation or nod along, but his head was clearly somewhere else.

You talked with Pepa and another woman from the village. A cloud had formed over your sister-in-law’s head, but you managed to calm her to the point where she wasn’t storming.

The women asked questions about the baby laying asleep in your arms, as well as the two in your husband’s. The woman you hadn’t met before tonight was especially invested, not knowing there were new babies in the Madrigal family.

You introduced the triplets by name, starting with the little girl on your chest.

“This little firecracker is Sofia,” You smiled, turning so they could see her tiny sleeping face.

“And these two are Mateo and Carlos!” Bruno smiled and looked down at the two when you mentioned their names.

For a moment, everything was okay. You had almost forgotten anything happened in the first place. That is, until Alma set a heavy hand on Bruno’s shoulder and whispered something into his ear.

His face fell as she spoke and he, again, began to chew on his lip. You passed Sofia to Pepa, (who immediately became sunny,) and turned back to your husband.

He smiled weakly at you, gently putting the brothers in your arms and kissing your cheek.

“I’ll only be gone for a minute, promise.”

You nodded and held the infants close. He’d be back in a minute.

When Bruno did return, it was late at night. The townspeople had all left about an hour ago, and you and the triplets had returned to your room.

The bedroom was simple; a converted guest room to best suit the needs of your little growing family. A full sized bed for you and your husband, three small bassinets lining the wall, a dresser with little trinkets on top.

The babies were sleeping soundly in their soft beds, their bellies full and content. You, however, sat on the edge of the bed, waiting for your husband to return so you could, hopefully, fall asleep next to him like any other normal night.

Though, this wasn’t a normal night at all, was it?

When Bruno entered the room, he seemed even more stressed than before. He gave you a soft smile at first, trying to ease your nerves, but that smile quickly faded away.

“Bruno?” You called his name softly as he placed a kiss on each of the baby’s heads.

“Hi, hi, yeah-” He made his way over to you and wrapped his arms around your torso. “-I know. I was gone for a while. I missed you…”

He kissed your shoulder while hugging you, your presence seemingly calming him a bit.

Cupping his face gently, you brought his head up so you could meet his gaze.

“Bruno, is everything alright?” He smiled at you again and took your hands in his own.

“Mhm, don’t worry, mi amor.” He kissed your knuckles, then your cheek, then the tip of your nose, then your lips. “Mama wanted me to look at Mira’s future.”

He moved further onto the bed as he spoke, dragging you down gently so you’d cuddle with him.

“And?” You asked, laying down in his arms.

“Nothing. She has a fine future ahead of her.” You could tell your husband was lying, but now didn’t seem like a good time to ask more, so you simply snuggled into him.

There were a few minutes of quiet, the only sound was Bruno’s heartbeat, pounding rhythmically in his chest.

“[Name]? I love you. I’m going to love you forever.” He kissed the top of your head.

“I love you too, Bruno.” You mumbled, eyes heavy with sleep. “And I’m going to love you forever and a day.”

He smiled and gently rubbed your back and kissed your head, to which your body responded with slow breathing and closed eyes. When he thought you were fully asleep, he kissed you once more and slipped out of your arms.

“I’ll only be gone for a minute, promise.” He whispered.

He was only supposed to be gone for a minute.

I have a family friend who worked at our local Salvation Army headquarters as a a secretary. This particular office took all the Christmas donations for children in need, put them in a warehouse, and on a designated day the staff and their friends picked through them all, taking whatever they wanted. She saw people hauling away bikes donated for specific families. Some local children had hundreds of dollars of gifts donated in their name, and on Christmas they received three cheap things, items likely not even from the person who sponsored them.

My friend quit, and I’ve not given them a dime of my money since then.

I’m a wildfire and disaster logistics specialist.

I deal with a lot of agencies who provide disaster relief.

I used to say the Salvation Army’s disaster services were the one (literally the ONE) good thing they did.

They would come in, set up a canteen trailer, make and pass out hot coffee and donated food in a disaster, usually being one of the first agencies to get there and the last to leave.

Then I found out.

Every time they did this, regardless of if they were actually invited or deployed by the agency in charge (usually FEMA, sometimes others) they would SELF-DEPLOY. Meanjng they would just show up. Ok. That’s not TOO bad, sometimes agencies have to take initiative and get there before the red tape is sorted out. BUT. They, after they left at the end of the incident, they would send FEMA or the host agency a BILL. They used one or two paid employees (usually the driver of the truck and a supervisor); and many VOLUNTEERS, but they would bill for EVERYONE’s Labor at standard federal rates. They would bill for the food they distributed even though it was all donated by another agency or private parties. They would bill for the coffee they made and the supplies. Except they would use electricity from the shelter location, water from donations or from the shelter, and in many cases, they would get the coffee and industrial filters DONATED, but bill for them at retail prices.

Don’t FUCKING give to the Salvation Army.

The Salvation Army is also ass to the workers. A good number of people join it, naively thinking that it’s doing good, and end up leaving cynical and beaten down. The management is hostile, if not outright abusive, and demand some ridiculous hours of it lower to mid-level staff. Don’t support these people.

Hello Hello, I am back to actually do this real quickly. How first off this is slapped together and how I draw hands now is usually quickly and chaotic so these are a break down of hw I would SLOWLY go about it.

But before that, how I started off was by drawing my hands and trying to get the details. I still use references when I am stuck but have found a conferrable middle ground of styling hand gestures. So styling life does help but it’s a learn rule easily broken once you find a method you enjoy.

Also also there are better tutorials out there but I wanted to at least give this a shot cause I do like drawing hands. They’re a way to express emotion and make a pose more interesting.

Alright so funky shapes are key, you can start off squares but then you have another step for the thumb, getting a hand shape keeping in mind where the thumb maybe helps me more than a square does.

The left hand I wanted to show the palm so we’re going with a standard shape (in this case 5 sides cause if you look at your hand you can kinda see what im implying already).

The right hand I wanted to do an angle. Now note im looking at my hands for this to give me an idea what I want to do, so Im staring at my thumb and pointer finger for that so the shape has to be more warped.

Remember implying can be an advantage.

Okay so I wanted to rip the band aid off and draw the thumbs because you might not be able to tell why I started off the shapes like that.

Thumbs to me are just like the fingers but because you only have two phalanges (the bones for the fingers) they should be drawn with that in mind. But note I drew these like a tear drop like shape so I stylized them for my preference if I went realistic my thumb would be a bit straighter (but I like that curve for dimension).

Now we draw the fingers. Look like sausages but I just drew them like this going for a rectangle shape.

Both hands have fingers that are more stretched out and not bending so you dont have to worry about the phalanges however you should keep them in mind, they’re on your hand so when you draw you should keep note where they WOULD bend

Now you can stop here cause that is a hand but for sketches I love going overboard with details, they might not show up in the final work or you like it enough to imply the marks in the work, either way it’s a win and might help you structure the hand out more.

This is before lining note so mess ups and marks you don't like can be altered. But this is how you can see the hand. Even though I already drew the fingers I go back and imply where they might bend cause it looks like marks on the hand and it gives me a mental note.

bonus for that your fingers are like little bean toes, I draw the tips finger tips implying an oval, makes me feel good. But I also flatten the tips because I like that more.

Now I kinda wish I drew a hand bending their fingers I could have drawn more for that but also wanted to do something simple. If any of my rambles made sense and you enjoyed this novel I can do it again.

But once again, drawing what you see helps more than guessing what’s in your head.

Oh and how I improved so much is I forced myself to draw hands constantly I hate hiding hands now but I like finding creative ways to show them and if I do hide them I have to give myself a reason. These are tips I follow and if you like that try it out.
