The classic nightmare scene. Whumpee has never slept with people close by for this very reason. Unfortunately, they don’t have a choice this time, and they do, in fact, scream (or cry) in their sleep, in front of someone/everyone.

The person behind the trauma suddenly reappearing in Whumpee’s life. Whumpee losing it—running away, hiding, refusing to engage with anyone. Or even better, trying so hard to pretend they’re okay until they just. Shatter.

Truth serums, spells, and items. Flippantly asking Villain, “Why do you keep doing this?” only to get a gut-wrenching answer in return.

The mind probe. Whumpee is sick/unconscious, and someone does the magical mind probe (I swear this comes up so much in media) to figure out what’s wrong and stumbles on Whumpee’s tragic past.

Teammates unknowingly triggering Whumpee for a while until Whumpee finally just screams it out. The looks of horror.

Also shout out to intentional trauma reveals. For trusting the found family enough to tell them the things that hurt the most.

Any other tropey goodness that results in Whumpee finally getting the comfort they deserve.

This is - legitimately - my favourite delivery of Shakespeare I have EVER seen (and I have seen some good-ass productions yo, in the Globe Theatre itself even). Like seriously, even though the words are unchanged, he’s stripped away ALL of the archaic pretense and assumed grandeur of ~presenting the bard~ that makes even the most wildly talented of actors and innovative of productions inherently inaccessible to a modern audience. Like, they’re still great, they can still communicate the message and (some) of the nuance, but they’re still always a step removed from being identifiable to any viewer’s lived experience. They’re still always reciting 15th century poetry. But this guy? This guy is like, screw iambic pentameter, to hell with being precious about the material, HOW WOULD AN ACTUAL PERSON SAY THIS SHIT?

Like this. And it’s beautiful. It’s beautiful to hear a soliloquy I loved so much already, and have it come to life in a way it never, ever, did before. I feel like I grasp his motivations, his twists and turns, no longer on an academic level but on a visceral, instinctive one. Because he’s presenting his mental and emotional journey in a way that speaks honestly, like a real person.

So yeah, this shit post? I love it. Deeply and sincerely.

I think one of the funniest abortion stances I've heard was from my parents neighbor. He's a like, hard-core libertarian viking larper guy who is very tall and very fat and very bald.

He believes a fetus is human with a soul, but also its "basically attacking the woman's body" so if she wants to get rid of it, that's "basically self-defense". He compared it to shooting a home invader. So he supports abortion not as healthcare, but as killing a baby in self-defense

My stepmother did NOT like the way her Libertarian Viking Neighbor framed pregnancy as the fetus "attacking the woman". She incredulously told him this was extremely disrespectful to expectant mothers to portray pregnancy as so violent and negative.

Libertarian Viking Neighbor's response was that people consensually hurt each other all the time, and "there's like a whole community about that, with the acronym the one that starts with a B" And his reasoning was that if the mother was consenting to bring attacked by the baby, it in fact wasn't violent and negative because there was consent.

He brought up people consensually hurting each other, didn't go for one of the obvious answers like boxing or body mods or something, no he went STRAIGHT TO BDSM and he DIDN'T EVEN REMEMBER THE ACRONYM

In A Study in Scarlet, Watson mentions that when he served in Afghanistan he had an orderly named Murray who rescued him after he was shot in the Battle of Maiwan.

And I really do like the idea that this Murray could be somehow related to Mina Murray, that would be a very fun way to connect Dracula and Sherlock that I don’t think I’ve seen before. Unfortunately I don’t know how well it fits timeline-wise to either story, and also Mina having a family would make some scenes in Dracula really weird.

Like she says, “I never knew either father or mother,” so it’s possible that she had an older sibling/cousin/aunt/uncle that could be Watson’s Murray, but if you were going monster hunting and you had an older sibling/cousin/aunt/uncle who was a military trained medical professional, I assume you’d tell them

So, Dracula is set in 1895. Watson was wounded in the Battle of Maiwand in 1880. It would not be inconsistent for Mina to have an older brother who served and was present at this battle.

One might suppose this relative died in subsequent action in that war. The loss of their beloved son then so devastated Mina's parents, that they departed to Afghanistan to recover his body, leaving behind their very young daughter. They never returned, and Mina was then an orphan. At that age - perhaps as young as 3, or 6 at the oldest (guessing she was between 18 and 21 at the start of Dracula) she'd have little if any memory of her parents.

Y'all - the Catholic Church is not only a conservative institution, it is a strong contender for the most conservative institution in the world. I don't say that (here) in a disparaging way, I mean it in a neutral, literal sense. The Church's entire modus operandi is that it seeks to conserve what it believes to be apostolic teaching - disciplines, practices, and prudential judgements vary across place and time, but the teachings themselves never ever change. Hailing the Pope or a bishop as some kind of progressive icon is nonsensical, and is hard for me to see as anything other than a very worrying sign of the reactionary period we're living in.

After drying their tears — the whole house is dusty somehow, go figure. They both realise they have the perfect gift in their hands. It's risky, perhaps even a death sentence. But if they execute it right, they might live to tell the tale.

Step 1: Put their demon hunting training to good use and break into Celine's office for a second time.

Step 2: Steal all the notes.

Step 3: Pray to the Honmoon Celine doesn't kill them for what they're about to do.

A couple of days before Celine's birthday, Celine comes out of her office clearly distressed or annoyed, they can't really tell. She's mumbling to herself, reproaching something. Mira and Zoey ask her what's wrong, but she simply puts on a mask and dismisses the issue. Celine sulks around the house the next few days, more so than usual, and even Rumi notices. But once again Celine says it's nothing.

On her birthday, Rumi gives Celine a gift saying it's from all of them. But the girls stop her, saying they have a gift of their own though it includes Rumi in a different way. They pray once more for Celine not to send them to Gwi-ma and give a portrait filled with all of Rumi's notes, and an extra one.

"Happy birthday, Celine! - MZ❤️"

The whole week Celine thought she had thrown away the notes by mistake. The gift makes her so happy she doesn't even realises the gift means Mira and Zoey stole the notes.
