Kronos is trying to get Percy alone to #gaslightgatekeepgirlboss him. Percy thinks about how even the Olympian gods can’t help him now, and he thinks that this is going to end horribly + the bonus foreshadowing of the prophecy that he thinks is foretelling his doom

Percy thinks Kronos is really hot, but also an awful person (he is). He agrees to date Kronos as long as he promises not to destroy humanity in his quest for power

oh my GOD all that yapping and i still didn't focus on the au idea LMAO but kronos tempting percy with the utter destruction he would bring, promising him that he could let the sea swallow the land and make the world his own, that he could drown city after city, split open the earth to swallow town after town, promising him that he could stir storms with thunder so loud it deafens the creatures of earth and with unyielding rain that kills the crops and starves life on earth, promising him that he can rain devestation down onto the world mercilessly. percy having those horrifying moments of being tempted by the offer. where both he and thalia stare at the ophiotaurus and genuinely consider it—thalia wanting the power it offers and percy just wanting to kill it.

the gods wanting to kill percy before he can reach age 16 because they know that poseidon's kids are more violent and cruel than the others—zeus's kids are more fair and just so they prefer his children because hades's kids are more accepting of what happens no matter what because everything is claimed by their father in the end so they're more apathetic, but poseidon's kids favor the utter carnage and devestation they can bring and thrive in the chaos and destruction, so all of olympus fears that percy will make the choice to "raze" olympus as his nature calls for him to do. kronos betting on that too. kronos appealing to that aspect within him, dangling the prospect before him continously. kronos offering him peace of mind from all the guilt he feels by offering to rid him of that pesky humanity and morality within him, to let the divine power of the ocean reign supreme within him so he can indulge in the destruction without the guilt or sorrow he always feels. percy making the hard choice in the end to remain as he is and resist kronos's tempting offer.

percy being so soft spoken and quiet and introverted and kids at camp with rough home lives (basically all of them in some way, shape, or form) finding peace and quiet with percy. there’s a base level of hero worship with the way people talk about him and his quests and feats, but then they actually meet him and he’s so down to earth and they can just sit in silence with him and do their own thing together and it’s like sitting on the shore letting the water lap at their feet as they breathe silently. for as much of a force of nature as he is, percy’s peace and serenity is unmatched.

pjo but percy and annabeth are in the titan army and she’s the spy and he’s being eyed as kronos’ host and they detest each other because one has what the other wants. annabeth has an alive mortal family she chooses not to be with which pisses percy off bc sally here is dead, percy gets a seat at the table annabeth’s been gunning for but doesn’t get because everyone thinks she’s just a spy/pawn/irrelevant and she takes it out on him. but also she’s the only one who doesn’t show fear towards him and he’s the only one that takes her seriously and everyone else detests them too so they lowk only got each other. they end up deserting bc annabeth is doubting things w luke and being at camp is changing things and also she has always thought being a spy is cowardly and beneath her and hates the role sooo much, percy finds out about how they want him to be a host and he’s not fucking w that bc if his life is going to mean anything he has to live it himself (!!!!!) so they figure they can come up w a better plan on their own and this has been in my docs forever one day it will see light but guys are u walking with me…

Having recently gotten back into Percy Jackson fanfiction, I can now claim my least favorite Percy mischaracterization that I am seeing all the time:

He is not cheerful.

If the first thing you're having Percy do when he meets a new person is start grinning and joking around, you have fundamentally misunderstood him. He is quiet, surly, has the look of a troublemaker, and if he's smiling at you, it's because a) he likes you and thinks of you as a friend or b) he is acting, probably to trick you into fucking up so he can fuck you up.

Nearly all of his commentary should be internal. He's a funny guy (in his thoughts) but he doesn't say much.

He's also fundamentally a very kind person, but he's going to express that through actions before words.

If anything, strangers looking at him should be thinking that he looks like his father: the same brooding look on his face, scowling - and then be surprised when he does something nice. He's got a serious case of resting bitch face.

And while I have your attention, here's my second least favorite Percy Jackson mischaracterization: he does not go around mouthing off to gods for no reason! Holy shit why does everyone have him doing that?!?

Yes he's stubborn and impertinent - but he's not stupid. His first approach every time when talking to a god is to think "ok Percy, how best to not make them mad at me and turn me into a horrible little insect?" The cases where he doesn't do that are outliers, even if they're memorable:

Meeting Dionysus for the first time: a) he's just found out he's a demigod and is grappling with the idea gods are even real; b) Mr. D is giving off serious alcoholic vibes that set off his childhood trauma from Gabe. And when Mr. D threatens him, he shuts up! He's more casual around Mr. D considering he's the god Percy is around the most, and even then Percy's go-to strategy with the guy is to avoid him whenever he can, and if he can't, to stay silent unless there's something really egregious that he disagrees with (example A being Tantalus.)

Meeting Ares on the lightning thief quest: Ares fucking whammied him with his rage aura, and even then Percy was doing his best to be polite while turning him down - because they were on a time sensitive quest!

Fighting Ares in LA: Ares straight up was part of the plot to frame Percy for the theft and drag him into Tartarus with the bolt. He was also preventing Percy from getting the helm and returning the bolt to Zeus - if Percy didn't fight him he was gonna die anyway, frankly from a number of options: Kronos rising, the gods going to war (and probably sniping each other's demigod children), Zeus!!!!, Ares himself to cover up his involvement, Hades!!!!, Poseidon for failing him, for all Percy knew (he'd never met the guy, and all he knew of the gods at that point was that they thought of demigods as tools in their arsenal, not children.) They were past the point of polite reconciliation by then, so Percy challenging him to a duel and luring him into the sea was his best option.

Hades: he is remarkably polite to Hades, even when he tries to imprison him in the underworld for the crime of nearly being sixteen, and Percy has to fight him to escape.

Hermes: he is also very polite to Hermes! Especially since a lot of their conversations involve Percy trying to delicately deliver harsh truths (about Luke) to the guy.

Artemis: pretty sure the only impertinent thing he does around Artemis is try to stand up for Bianca's right to choose her future, since he thinks she's being pressured into joining the hunt. And even that is just to advise her that she should find out what camp is like before swearing an eternal oath. And then when Bianca makes her decision, he shuts up and doesn't try to interfere with her life choices. He's very polite to Artemis! And also respects her a lot.

Apollo: lmao frankly Apollo is the one taking liberties in his relationship with Percy, considering they hardly even talk before Apollo shows up as a mortal during ToA (and by then Apollo has a massive hero crush on Percy, even he never says that explicitly). And even then, the pushiest Percy gets with him while Apollo is an immortal god capable of crushing him like a bug is when Apollo shows up to help with the quest to free Artemis, and that's pretty much just to ask for more information - which, I mean, is for the purposes of helping Apollo's beloved sister. Apollo would've helped more if he could've.

Poseidon: Percy is very respectful of his father, and even when Poseidon says he's his favorite son, Percy is wary of upsetting him. He's tells Poseidon his honest opinion as politely as he can, and pretty much always keeps in mind that it might get him smited - he just takes the risk because he honestly believes what he's saying is important. In any conversation they have, he lets Poseidon lead.

Zeus: Percy is afraid of Zeus, for good reason. I think he closest he comes to mouthing off is when he blurts out his impassioned argument in favor of letting Bessie live - which Zeus ultimately lets happen. Heck, I think the only person to tell Zeus he's wrong (other than Poseidon) is Jason?!? Put some respect on Jason's name. (Even if that did ultimately get him killed, imo.)

Like, I'm sure I missed some, because this is getting long - but the idea that Percy would get in a room with any immortal god and start mouthing off from the get-go is absurd. He has to be seriously pissed off to do that - and even then he's either going to a) temper what he says if he's trying to have a conversation or b) have already decided he's gotta fight his way out (see: Ares, Akhlys.) You know who is more likely to do that? ANNABETH. I love the girl but she absolutely lets her pride get in the way when she's talking to gods - to the point that more than once Percy has had to step in to try to smooth things over and cool things down. (See: Hermes, HERA)

hilarious to me how Percy and Thalia just Don't Have Teachers. hazel learned magic from hecate and Gaea. Jason had loads of resources on hand from the Senate. Nico had fucking King Minos teach him to raise the dead. thalia improvised lightning when she was 12 and almost killed Luke and percy figured out he could breath underwater accidentally when the Chimera pushed him into the Mississippi River from a 600-foot height. arent they just so funny

percy is not an unreliable narrator, he just hates himself.

thats it. thats literally the only thing that makes him unreliable. youre calling him 'slow' or 'oblivious' because he didnt realize nico, annabeth, rachel etc. were in love with him? no he just didnt realize that anyone could loev him. because he sure didnt.

percy also always underplayed his own abilities, because he hates himself. he has shitty self esteem, of course hes going to mention only the basics, he thinks hes fucking sucks at everything.

percy is literally one of the smartest and most observant characters in pjo, he can pick up on body language and subtle social cues and notice things about people really fuckn easily and then use that against that percy (read: charon scene in book one), its just that when it comes to himself all that goes out the window because he just fucking. hates himself. he doesnt think hes worthy of literally anything i think people forget that gabe wasnt the only form of abuse he went through pre-demigod life. we hear over and over again just how bad his classmates treat him, people who are supposed to be equals. of course hes going to hate himself, no ones shown him hes worthy of love aside from sally.

love how percy and annabeth became friends tbh. they absolutely hated each other to the ends of the earth for like 200 pages (and when i say hated each other i mean he almost sacrificed her to medusa and she used him as bait in capture the flag), and then for the next 100 pages they're obviously good friends, because you can only save someone's life so many times before accidentally bonding. but percy still. has not knocked it into his head that they are friends now and is 100% confident that annabeth still hates him. she straight up tells him in the back of a truck that they're hitchhiking to LA "we're friends you idiot" because she knows she needs to verbally confirm it and he's just like "oh cool" and Boom. platonic codependency for like 4 years until Grover presumably punches Annabeth as they bake percy's 16th birthday cake and says "would you fucking get together already"

anyways i love headcanons where percy is just. an absolute New York stereotypical skater kid emphasis on stereotypical. like yes he spent most of his time at private boarding schools and yes he was only in New York in the summer and yes he's a mama's boy so he would never (intentionally) commit any type of crime but also. he knows how to pickpocket because his neighbor taught him when he was eight. the local police chief knows him personally even though he's never actually been jailed for anything because "why are you always on the scene when something happens?". he figured out how to pick locks on WikiHow when he was 11 so that if Gabe locked him out and forgot to let him back in he could do it himself. when he said in book 1 that he sold 'candy' to rich kids at his private school for cash, what he really meant was that he picked random plants in the schoolyard and told people they were weed and got money for it until someone realized the weirdo from dorm 1 was scamming everyone with dandelions,

this is such an important quote to me. it shows one of Percy's interests outside of sea and it's unfortunately never been brought up again.

but it really interested me why this specific car? like was Percy interested in cars in general when he was younger and this is the one he set his mind on to the point when his interest in cars faded this one stayed in memory? did he go researching cars to find one when he inevitably learns how to drive?

did he fantasize about learning to drive, getting a car, and driving himself and Sally away from Gabe?

All I know is that Percy Omega sometimes has crises where he needs babies around him to calm down. This isn't when he's in heat; it only happens when he's overworked or overexploited (battle, training, war).Not always, but sometimes he gets too frustrated and cries in despair, but when a baby is brought to him, his Omega instincts calm down.In conclusion, give the baby a baby; he desperately needs one. Please get him pregnant.
