Found a movie at work today and i couldnt get this out of my head.

What a year this past few hours has been

Right now Washington, Oregon and California are experiencing one of the worst wildfires to date. The sky is orange and everything smells like a campfire and I'm bad at articulating but it's really serious. Thousands have had to evacuate and lost they're homes in the process. I don't like talking about topical stuff on the blog v often but I'm in the midst of the evacuation zone in Oregon and shits scary. I'm afraid of losing my home and I'm afraid for my family and friends.

Idk what the point is of this post but I feel like not many people outside of the northwest know how bad it is rn cus it's bad. The moment I find donation links I'll link them to this post but I haven't found any yet. And if you're in the northwest rn, please be safe.

Pro tips if you have ADHD and want to clean

Tip #1:

Put on a tv show or music, podcasts are great for this too.

Having something in the background helps you pay attention to that instead of the (less interesting) task of cleaning. Also if its music, feel free to sing or even dance along. No harm done, right?

Tip #2:

Put everything in the middle of the room. Or into piles as needed.

Focusing on one large thing versus a million smaller things helps you feel more productive, and encourages you to keep going. You can organize as you're working through the pile.

Tip #3:

Remove everything that isnt trash from the pile.

Dont worry about putting things away just yet! Taking everything out but the trash helps because you're organizing everything into piles as you go through it. By the time youre done doing so, you have a pile of trash and things to put away!

Tip #4:

Take breaks!

While it can be distracting to take breaks, and hyperfocusing is irritating, set a timer for yourself. Every hour, take a 15 minute break to get water, a snack, maybe go to the bathroom or just relax. Remember, this is a process, so take your time!

Tip #5:

Label everything!

As someone who has the fun part of ADHD where i forget things, i have learned that labeling things helps me find them later after I've cleaned. It makes it so i have a clear space to stay organized later, too.

P.s. This could be used for cleaning with depression too. I personally struggle with keeping my room regularly kept bc i struggle with both depression and adhd, and i thought I'd share what i do to encourage myself. Hope this helps!

P.p.s. I was diagnosed with ADHD at a very young age. I'm 20 now, and ive been coping with the ups and downs of it for nearly 15 years.

My sister had to do a paper about current events, and while she was talking about not knowing what to do, my mom suggested she write about Trump suggesting to ingest chemicals or lay in the sun to try to cure COVID-19. Or how about people who are taking him seriously, and "drinking bleach to own the libs."

It opened up a whole discussion about how you can't "own the libs" when all you'll be owning is a grave plot or a nice little hospital bed in the ICU.

Regardless of what Trump said about only saying it to see what people would do, thats not an acceptable way of handling things in this situation.
