i think one of the worst things the left wing internet ever did was push the idea that oppression is basically a virtue, and being oppressed is a sign of your morality. it has made it like…impossible for some of you to hold the idea that most people are privileged in some ways and oppressed in others. AND a lot of you seem to have it in your mind that terrible people cannot be oppressed, and that oppressed people cannot do terrible things, which is a dangerous rhetoric to hold imo.

tumblr has worked quite quickly to improve their reporting system to cocnretely distinguish between CSEM and sexualised depictions of children! instead of the broad "harm to minors" report, you are now given these options under the "child exploitation" banner:

this is a great move towards helping to prevent the exploitation of children on this website and on the broader internet, and undoubtedly makes categorisation of and investigation of reports much easier. sexualised depictions of fictional children are not allowed on this website according to the user guidelines, but this new categorisation means that reports of CSEM can be treated with the gravity they deserve, while user guidelines violations can be treated separately.
