Quality: Sit down and prepare yourself. It's an epic, in length and scope of its plot. It's a quite brilliant explanation for many plot points in the series and a gripping enough love story, even with the soul bond there to make it inevitable. 

So Bad It's Good: The boys are oblivious with their manpain. 

Favorite Part:

“Human politics,” Crowley says, rolling his eyes.

“Nonsense if I ever saw it,” Balthazar adds.

TW: sexism

Walk a Mile by CloudyJenn: Gabriel's deal is worth saving Bobby's life. Still, being stuck as a woman for three weeks is not Dean's idea of a good time. 

Rating: NC-17 | Length: 13,400+ words

Quality: Not for everyone. A fun, funny fic if you like genderswap, it's quickly-resolved UST on top of some sexin' on top of schmoop. 

So Bad It's Good: Well, it's a lot of emotionally satisfying smut. 

Favorite Part:

Dean snaps out of his thoughts and smooths out his stricken expression. He doubts this salesgirl would understand if he told her the dildo display was making him feel like less of a man.

This isn't as good as it was last semester, but I'll try to update at least 3 times a week.

TW: violence, torture, kidnapping

Hunter's Moon by Bridgesto: Scott has a hero-complex; Stiles has a staying-alive-complex with an override button the size of Texas.

Rating: T | Length: 22,039 words

Quality: Worth a try. Not everyone likes femmeslash, but if you're watching Teen Wolf, I'm guessing the fic's campiness is right up your alley. 

So Bad It's Good: You'll definitely love to hate the villains. 

Favorite Part: 

“Fuzzy,” Stiles says indistinctly, “also, I might pass out.”

“No.”

“No?!” Stiles repeats, blinking up at Derek, indignation pulling her alert.  “What do you mean ‘no’?  You can’t just order people not to pass out!”

Genderswap, Ouran High School Host Club AU, Star Trek Reboot

Notice: I got rid of the rating system (out of 5) because frankly they've always been arbitrary.

Quality: Worth a try. It's the sort of cracky genius only the internet can dream up.

So Bad It's Good: Only hilarious if you like Ouran's brand of humor.

Favorite Part:

"We are as close as brothers, but yet...your masculine beauty, the curls of your hair, how they seduce me!" Sulu wailed, reaching a hand towards the seat of Chekov's pants.

"Hikaru, please! Steer me to the nearest bed!" Chekov simpered, pressing his buttocks against Sulu's hand.

Faultlines by The Poultry Alchemist:  Conveniently placed flowers turn Spock into a woman. No one's happy about it.

Length: 15,020 words | Rating: PG-13

Quality: 3.5/5. The serious writing perfectly complements the crackiness of the story. 

So Bad It's Good: 4/5. All the cliches, still delicious to read.

Favorite Part:

They pause for a moment, contemplating their imminent menses with a measure of horror.

Prove Your Body Wrong series by Suzelle: In which the Avengers are all women, and Brooke Banner gets a hell of a lot of backstory.

Rating: R | Length: 33,171 words

Quality: 4/5. It's an incisive look at what drives a female-born Bruce Banner - and how it fucked her up. 

So Bad It's Good: 2/5. There is a lot of OC usage and a very overtly spelled out moral of the story. 

Favorite Part:

She closes her eyes, turns away from the rest, and gives herself into the storm.

TW: child abuse, sexism, sexual assault, rape, Holocaust, violence

Charlotte Francis Xavier by Blind_Author: Written for a prompt. A look at how the events of the movie would have changed if Charles was a woman. Very dark subject matter - past child abuse, past rape, mentions of the Holocaust.

Rating: NC-17 | Length: 72,156 words

Quality: 3.5/5. And in the spirit of the New Year, have an all-powerful Professor X and a soul bond!

So Bad It's Good: 3.5/5. See the above. 

Favorite Part: 

Charlotte’s smile is weak and tremulous, but she still smiles.  “Isn’t there a saying about the road to hell being paved with good intentions?”   “I’ve seen the road to hell,” Erik says bleakly.  “And I promise you, it’s paved with nothing of the kind.”

Quality: 3/5. No plot, but a nice fluffy fun fic!

Favorite Part:

Stiles reaches out to scratch his fingers lightly through Derek’s scruff. “Let me assure you, Derek, you’re certainly not like most women. No other has such a pretty beard like you.”

Christmas, Rise of the Guardians

This might be cheating a little.

Wonders by Asidian: 

“Santa’s workshop,” he breathes, and in that moment, he is very much a child discovering something that all children long to see.

It is a place of light -- of beauty. Greenery is strung here and there as though Mother Nature has been convinced to lend a hand in decorating, thick pine wreaths and garlands that set off glittering candles. It is, Jack thinks, the best place he has ever seen, and he has had a hundred and fifty years to look.

He knocks at the door, this first time. He assumes that it will be as it ever is, that he will wait until the way is cleared and then pass, unnoticed, within. He is wrong, though -- and for an instant the joy of it eclipses all else. The furry creatures can see him. They can see him, and he feels irrationally grateful for it until the instant that they turn him away.

Rating: G | Length: 1,625 words

Quality: 4/5. This isn't something the film didn't explore, but reading it still hurts.

So Bad It's Good: 2/5.  The feels are very deliberate here.

Favorite Part:

It is their hats that give them away, pointy red things, and Jack grins as he recognizes them for what they are – as it occurs to him, for the first time, what this place must be.

Quality: 4.5/5. This is an incredibly powerful tour de force. Draco struggles to reconcile who he is with what life has allotted him, and the way isn't kind or particularly hopeful. It's sometimes lonely, even when he has Harry. We like to imagine our protagonists to be stuck in an infinite loop of masochistic internalized childhood trauma; there is a reason that Batman is so popular. But those that hurt others still deserve love. 

So Bad It's Good: 3/5. At the risk of spoilage, all I will say is that Draco does some very nasty things. 

Favorite Part: 

Draco is a ghost in his own home. And he is so bloody tired of it.

Quality: 4/5. The story is quite good in the way the writer uses the deaging trope to flesh out the characters, instead of using it as an excuse for plot. 

So Bad It's Good: 3/5. Seriously, where in the world did Clint/Coulson come from? 

Favorite Part: 

Tony, Thor and Phil had all made it up there. Thor, adorable at maybe four and indignantly regal, was demanding the safe return of his brother.

"My father does not take kindly to abductors and kidnappers," he was saying, drawn up to his full height of three feet. "And he does not countenance the paying of ransoms, so you are set to be sorely disappointed."

Omegaverse, Supernatural

Grey by Valyria: 

In a world where people don't see in color until they find their true mate, the first thing Dean sees when he pulls himself out of his grave is the blue sky.

When Castiel raised him from the Pit, he inadvertently claimed Dean as his mate.

Rating: NC-17 | Length: 60,552 words

Quality: 4/5. This is purely for people who like sad movies (I'm assuming that's the entire Supernatural fandom), but there is a happy ending, of sorts. It's also for people who need confirmation that yes, you should go for it.

So Bad It's Good: 3/5. The manpain is a bit gratuitous. Dean isn't his worst enemy, but he's not doing himself any favors (to be fair, neither is Castiel).

Favorite Part:

It’s an odd feeling, to pity... himself.

This Dean is heartbroken and his mate is apparently oblivious. Or doesn't care.

Dean isn’t surprised when his future self insists on a suicide mission.

Fearless Leader by janice_lester: A transporter accident gives Kirk a 'female' body. He's a complete ass about it, just not in the way his friend would have expected.

Quality: 3.5/5. Pornless crack.

So Bad It's Good: 4/5. See below.

Favorite Part:

The first thing Captain Kirk did after he got his dick back was fish it out right there in the transporter room, sigh loudly in relief, and then attempt to kiss it. The second thing he did was get treated for a neck strain.

John Watson's Twelve Days of Christmas by earlgreytea68: It's the holiday season. John Watson needs money. Sherlock Holmes needs something else.

Rating: NC-17 | Length: 53,464 words

Quality: 3.5/5. Unbearably, outrageously romantic. The author's notes explain it better than I can. 

So Bad It's Good: 2/5. The ending, and Moriarty, aren't as sweet as the rest of the fic. 

Favorite Part: 

“I’d ask where you’ve been, but apparently you’ve been making eggs,” remarked John.

“Six eggs, to be exact,” replied Sherlock.

“Ah,” said John. “Six geese a-laying.”

“Exactly.” Sherlock held the tray out a little more. “Here.”

If you haven't started listening to Christmas music yet, this fic'll set you right.

Draco, Merrily on High by Blythely: [Harry/Draco, Remus/Tonks, Harry/Mince Pies] Let Nothing You Dismay, Or, Crazy Carolling Fic.

Rating: PG | Length: 8,306 words

Quality: 4/5. This fic is what Christmas should be; more importantly, this is what drunk should feel like. 

So Bad It's Good: 2/5. Unabashedly fluff, with some absolutely ridiculous names (see below). 

Favorite Part:

"Music is music," Draco had argued to one recalcitrant parent, who was threatening to lodge a complaint with the Ministry about Draco's choice of Yule carols. "And Christmas carols are vastly better than all that pagan chanting, and besides, your Helvetica is a beautiful soprano and will do just nicely for the solo on Silent Night."

Wilt Thou Exchange by twentysomething: "The first time Steve meets Toni is about a week after he wakes up."

Rating: PG-13 | Length: 41,328 words

Quality: 3.5/5. I like to imagine that this was how a fem!Tony alternate universe prevented the Civil War.

So Bad It's Good: 2.5/5. This is very much a rom-com. 

Favorite Part:

“Thor doesn’t get a nickname?” Steve asks.

Toni laughs. “Nicknames are for people who aren’t self-explanatory,” she argues. “Nicknaming Thor would be redundant.”

Actually more of an Alternative Universe fic.

The Mirror by CloudyJenn: When Dean touches a strange mirror, he's whisked away to one alternate reality after another and it doesn't take him long to realize the universe is trying to tell him something.

Rating: R | Length: ~24,500 words

Quality: 3/5. The different alternate universes are fun, and the plot as full of fate and destiny as the canon.

So Bad It's Good: 4/5. Soulmates story! 

Favorite Part:

"And you left him with Sam," Dean says, smiling fondly. "Uncle Sammy...wait, Sam's a dude, right?" DeAnna gives him a curious look. "Yeah. You've seen Sam as a girl? An actual girl and not just a man-child that acts like one?" Dean grins.
