seriously though where did they find the clothing, the cosmetics, and the skilled person-hours for these looks? Watsonian answers only
[image: late in Disney's Mulan, during the reprise of "I'll Make A Man Out Of You", three simultaneous fans close dramatically so their holders can pose. Ling, Yao, and Chien-Po are all in outfits and heavy makeup styled similarly to Mulan and the other young women in "Honor To Us All".]
They raided the rear palace.
And the ads aren't even targeted all that well.
I do want to say this quickly: going from being a random tumblr user to a Debut Author has had some growing pains, and I'm going to be changing some of my behaviour going forward. previously, I was going into the book tag to look for fanart, and using an automated bulk blocker on posts I perceived as negative, because I just didn't want to see that while scrolling.
now, I think it's best for me to stay out of the tag altogether. people should be able to post in a space free of my eyes, without fear of me interacting (whether through a block or a reblog).
if you want me to see your fanart or liveblog: please tag me! I'd really, really love to see it! and I will still be seeking out criticism from editors, hired sensitivity readers, and professional reviewers, because I want to get better at doing the thing I love. but it's healthier for me to have a separation from the fandom space on Tumblr.
I hope that all makes sense!
If it is reasonable for your budget, having someone screen fan works before you see them may be useful from a legal standpoint. As said in the comments, viewing anything relating to what you might include/reveal in later works that ends up being right could be leveraged by unscrupulous sorts to try to sue you.
so wildly obnoxious when you agree with the starting point of someone's stance only for them to hard turn into things you DON'T agree with and now you have to defend the thing that was originally annoying you
"too many authors in the current market are focusing on selling 'spice' instead of telling interesting stories"
"oh yeah, i agree. i started reading one that i heard a lot about and it just wasn't-"
"and it's all of these women reading their fucking mommy porn out in public like FREAKS"
*through gritted teeth* "people should be allowed to read whatever they want, and actually these books should be left alone and you should shut up about it"
This also describes my experience with objecting to the Netanyahu regime. If I see something on Facebook that is dealing honestly with the subject, the comment section is infested with antisemites who don't actually care about war crimes, they just want to say vile things about Jews.
My job made a big deal about adding an adjustable height desk so that all three shifts of my position could work at an ergonomic height while standing. This made the workstation unstable and interfered with instrument readings. Then they moved the entire subdepartment 60 feet away, placed the adjustable height table against a wall with protruding power outlets that negated the desks ability to raise up. They also moved the majority of the instrumentation to a new, more stable workstation... that doesn't change height and is not the ideal height for anyone meant to work there.
I do think it's kind of funny when plot summaries are like "character A encounters the last person they expected...their ex." Idk about you guys I'd be less surprised if my new coworker/roommate/random dance partner was my ex than I would if it was, like, Megawati Sukarnoputri the first woman president of Indonesia.
Any of my exes could plausibly attend the same conference as me. But I'd be really surprised to encounter former US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice
Which of these would surprise you more to find on the doorstep?
Your ex
Megawati Sukarnoputri, the first woman president of Indonesia
This poll is ambiguous if you (a) Don't have an ex or (b) Are Egyptian diplomat Hassan Gamal Ahmad Hassan, whose marriage to Megawati Sukarnoputri was anulled in 1972.
My only ex passed away over a decade ago, a few years after we broke up.

These dudes are fucking legit. They don’t just show up one day in court, either, they actually make friends with the kids and let them know they have a support system and that there are people in the world who care about them and will always have their back. And less important, but also cool, is that the few times a couple of them have come into my cafe, they’ve been super friendly and polite and when I told one of the guys that I noticed his Bikers Against Child Abuse patch and wanted him to know how awesome I thought he was because of it, he got kind of shy and blushed and said, “The kids are the awesome ones, we just let them know they’re allowed to be brave.”
The source is long, but so, so good. These men and women are available in 36 states, 24 hours a day to stand guard at home, in court, at school, even if the child has a nightmare. Many of them are survivors of childhood abuse as well, and know what it’s like to feel scared and alone.
In court that day, the judge asked the boy, “Are you afraid?” No, the boy said.
Pipes says the judge seemed surprised, and asked, “Why not?”
The boy glanced at Pipes and the other bikers sitting in the front row, two more standing on each side of the courtroom door, and told the judge, “Because my friends are scarier than he is.”
Actual tears.. hnngh
Show me more of people like this, world. I give up on humans too easily.
where do i sign up for this,i want to be in this gang
This is fucking amazing. It may be out of character for me to say this but rock on
Bikers Against Child Abuse was founded in 1995 by a Native American child psychologist whose ride name is Chief, when he came across a young boy who had been subjected to extreme abuse and was too afraid to leave his house. He called the boy to reach out to him, but the only thing that seemed to interest the child was Chief’s bike. Soon, some 20 bikers went to the boy’s neighborhood and were able to draw him out of his house for the first time in weeks.
Chief’s thesis was that a child who has been abused by an adult can benefit psychologically from the presence of even more intimidating adults that they know are on their side. “When we tell a child they don’t have to be afraid, they believe us,” Arizona biker Pipes told azcentral.com. “When we tell them we will be there for them, they believe us.” ( Article)
More about BACA, from their site
My parents are a part of this organization and they are metal af
They go on runs to protect the child if they feel even the slightest threatened no matter where. If the child needs them to go on vacation with them, they do. Bikers come from across the nation to watch over and take shifts for these kids. And the best part is once you’re adopted into this family as a BACA kid, you’re always one. Even when you’re 40 and the perp gets released from jail, they’ll come meet with you and find your best options for avoiding the person and maintaining the life you’ve built for yourself. Once a BACA child, always a BACA child. In Florida, there’s 100% rate for identifying the perp based on the child’s testimony. Why? Because BACA stands with the child and supports the child so they feel comfortable enough to point out their attacker.
What’s better than a badass biker gang being on your side???
NATIVE AMERICAN CHILD PSYCHOLOGIST WHO IS A BIKER AND NAMED HIMSELF CHIEF HELL YES I’M HERE FOR THAT AND BIKERS BEING BAD ASS TO PROTECT KIDS. HELL YEAH.
it’s back! I will always reblog BACA
Damn good people.
I know they wouldn’t consider themselves such, but these people are freaking heroes and the world is a better place because of them.
Hey folks, it talks about this in the article but its not mentioned in this post, BACA is a 501 © (3) charity that depends in part on donations to help pay for stuff like gas for their bikes. If you want to help, consider donating.
@copperbadge You like posting about heroes, Sam. Seems like this would be up your alley.
I love these folks! I’ve reblogged them before but it’s wonderful to see the donation information has been added.
Always reblog. Keep doing what you’re doing y'all.
Guys? This post changed my life. I saw this post. Forever ago. And thought it was only in america… and wished desperately that they could help me. But then I saw it again, during a bad episode, and checked their site. They aren’t just in the USA
They’re in Canada as well and probably other countries. I met and talked with a native guy who runs the place near me. His name is Shaman. I got in, and I’m considered a BACA child now. Despite being 17, turning 18 when I talked to them. They spent time with me when my abuser was over, they gave me therapy resources. They give you something called a ‘level 1′ where they go to your house with as many bikers as they can, i shit you not a solid 20-40 bikers came from even out of province, and met me. I got to choose my biker name and I got a vest with patches on it and my name on it. They all hugged a Teddybear before giving it to me, and told me if I ever felt the BACA bear was running out of love, to give them a call and they’d refill it for me, and then I got a ride on one of their bikes. Just a day or so ago I went to an annual party with them and they we ate food one of them cooked and had a lot of laughs.
I’ve never felt as loved as I did being a part of the BACA family. They also gave me dog tags with the names, and phone numbers of my 2 workers. So I can call them whenever I feel scared.
BACA is an absolutely wonderful group that will do everything in it’s power to help any child whos been abused.
And it doesn’t end when you’re 18 either. As long as you get in contact/get your level 1 before you’re 18? you’re ALWAYS a BACA kid. I’m 18 now and they still invite me to parties, ask me if I’m okay, and are there for me. They’re still trying to find me resources for therapy.
BACA has changed my fucking life.
I hope you all can read this, and reblog it knowing from someone who fucking been with them, that they are absolutely amazing.
If I ever don’t reblog this, it’s because I am physically being restrained against my will.
Supporting your local hero’s.
FUCKEN AMAZING what these Bikers do!!!! This is why I don’t give up on humanity…

By Jamie Hoo...
I can't even with this anymore.
Tell me I'm not the only one who noticed.
🔴 Shooting: 8:35 PM
🔴 Trump at podium reading from prepared notes: 9:30 PM
ONE HOUR.
Active shooting. Evacuation. Motorcade.
And he showed up READING FROM SOMETHING WRITTEN.
Trump doesn't do that.
Speaking off the cuff is literally his whole identity.
So I have one question that nobody is asking.
When was that written?
There are only 3 answers. 👇
1️⃣Written in the motorcade
30-45 minutes of pure chaos.
And somehow it's polished.
Structured.
Prepared.
Sure.
2️⃣ Written BEFORE the event
As a contingency.
Meaning someone specifically planned for a shooting happening there.
Before it happened.
They predicted it.
And they prepared for it.
3️⃣ It already existed before they walked in.
But THIS is what broke me. 👇
His opening line.
Dude.
I gasped.
I laughed.
And then I said no effing way ~ what the hell is going on.
It looked like a spoof.
Like a scene straight out of Idiocracy.
And then I realized. That's exactly the problem.
"That was very unexpected."
That is called an objection killer.
It's a sales technique.
You name the objection before anyone raises it.
You neutralize the skeptic before they speak.
You get ahead of the question before it's even asked.
That line was not shock.
That line was not relief.
That line was crafted.
By someone who had time.
Who was thinking clearly.
Who knew exactly what people would be thinking.
One hour after an active shooting.
❌ The notes existed.
❌ The opener was deliberate.
❌ The timeline doesn't work.
Not one person in mainstream media is talking about this.
Go watch it.
Then come back and tell me I'm wrong.
💾 Save this so you can show people.

THE VERY FIRST STAR TREK SLASH FIC PUBLISHED
“A Fragment out of Time”, published in 1974. Kirk / Spock. page 1 page 2
I had to share it with you because I can’t stop laughing, and every time I reread it it just gets funnier and fUNNIER
This fan fiction is older than the push-through tabs on soda cans.
Your grandma wrote this on her Commodore 64.
I miss my Commodore 64
Oh my dear, sweet children. The Commodore 64 came out in 1982. This was produced on a typewriter and probably mimeographed. And while it may seem funny now, it took more courage to write and distribute this than you will ever know.
Reblogged for that last comment.
respect your elders
Children, in the olden days fanfiction was written on a typewriter, copied and sent by snail mail. Getting one one of those letters from across the world was every bit as exciting as getting a notification that your favorite writer posted a new fic.
It’s been said before, but the fact that this fic begins with the dialogue assertion “We’re by no means setting a precedent” is endlessly amusing to me.
Diane Marchant changed all our lives. May she rest in peace.
The precedent line is especially amusing when you bear in mind that “A Fragment Out of Time” is not only the first Star Trek slashfic to be published in a widely distributed magazine: it’s believed by some to be the first slashfic of any kind to be widely published.
In 1974 it was illegal to send pornography through the USPS. So distributing fic like this via mailed newsletter was literally dangerous. And they knew it.
Ok the US Attorney General says that she will remove ICE if MN drops all our sanctuary laws, complies with ICE, hands over all our SNAP, Medicaid and voter rolls. They demand control over our voter registration so they can "ensure free and fair elections".
They want to control our elections.
I am dead serious people call your representatives. Get volunteering. Get protesting. Get LOUD.
They released a letter full of straight up lies. Spread the truth. MAKE NOISE.

How interesting. How very interesting. They rejected my Blaze of this post.
Well, y'all. Make of this what you will, eh?
Then I guess we'll just have to Blaze it the old fashioned way, eh?
Boosting signal. AGAIN.
Weirdly, everytime I see a reference to the ICE List link being blocked, it never includes the link to the list. Click here.
thank you for posting the link.

I just realized that this is the site I'm supposed to be shitposting on. Why did that not register before?
I need to come on tumblr more often the people here are so much nicer than on twt. also I get interaction on posts that are older than 24 hours which is super neat
We go WAY further back than a week around here.
