One of the most interesting things Iâve noticed about non-natives appropriating our stuff is they never want anything but sage, smudging, and feathers.
Native people will share: our food, our music, our dancing, our art.
But no one is interested in those. They donât CARE about our food and music. We never see those things in popular culture. Non-natives just want to take our religious items, because they feel entitled to the things people donât want to share.

Trump is giving a pardon to a convicted war criminal. Another one of the âfine peopleâ Trump and Republicans love so much, I guess. Trump and Republicans are racist and misogynists who get off on performative cruelty. Republicans are evil. And the people who keep voting them into office are evil too.
DEATH TO AMERIKKKAÂ
Quick thing. Iâm conservative and I voted for Trump. This is absolutely disgusting and horrific.
Thanks for nothing. Youâre one of the evil shit people who ignored his blatant racism and empowered him and the Republican Party.
You donât get to âsuddenlyâ act disgusted now, not when from the very beginning Trump was 100 percent transparent about his racism, Islamophobia and misogyny.
You suck and youâre blockt.
Please have a shit day :)
Gallagher is a serial killer who was given permission to do his killing in full view of witnesses. The military is full of Gallaghers.
Unpopular opinion but voting for a candidate doesnt make someone evil or stupid. It usually makes someone misinformed. Blatant generalizations of a huge portion of the population only creates a further divide. There are so many people that voted for Trump that regret it. Instead of hating them for having ever done something like that, encourage their growth and understanding. Damn, friends, I know we like to cancel youtubers, but do we really have to cancel strangers now, too?
Yes. We absolutely positively DO have to cancel strangers who knowingly voted for a racist piece of shit. WTF? Iâm really getting sick and tired of white people endlessly equivocating for other white people who are racists, and then asking everyone else to be âunderstandingâ to the people who donât give a fucking shit about us black and brown folks.
Trump was racist from day one. The people who ignored him calling Mexicans rapists and criminals werenât âmisinformed,â they just didnât care. Trumpâs racism wasnât a deal breaker for them. Nobody had to be clairvoyant to know Trump was a racist, misogynistic piece of doo doo. They just had to listen to him for like two minutes.
And sorry if my 34yrs of being black in America hasnât made me eager to âturn the other cheekâ or âforgive and forgetâ about the assholes who casually voted for a racist.
Sorry, the kumbaya train doesnât stop at this b-log, so yeah, you too can kiss off. Keep your bullshit off my posts.
I agree, sayings that Trump voters were misinformed about his racism is 100% grade A bullshit. Trump was so upfront about his racism is that the only way to be misinformed was to be uninformed. And he was so loud and proud about it, is that the only way to be uninformed was to be willfully ignorant about what was going on. Either you knew he was a racist and voted for him anyway, or you were living under a rock and only crawled out long enough to vote for not Hillary.
Tbh after Sandyhook, that was when I knew the conversation surrounding guns in America was dead. If nothing was done when these babies were murdered, nothing will ever be done
America didnât. care. when 1st grade Children were massacred. There is nothing in the world that is going to stop guns in the USA. Not a damn thing.
We all know this. And itâs nauseating.

Jury nullification. Pass it on.
Jury nullification is so fucking important.
This is something that more people should be aware of, if only because (in many states, at least) defense attorneys are actually prohibited from mentioning it to jurors. The law allows a jury to return a ânot guiltyâ verdict contrary to the facts of the case, but not for the defense to inform them of that power or to argue for its application in the current trial.
I didnât know about this. Wow.
always reblog
This is SUPER IMPORTANT and also a good reason to show up for jury duty. You know all those laws you think are stupid? This is your chance to maybe do something about it.Â
IâŠ. I thought this was common knowledge⊠signal boosting this because it obviously isnât!
Did not know this
Jury nullification in the United States has its origins in colonial British America. Similar to British law, in the United States jury nullification occurs when a jury in a criminal case reaches a verdict contrary to the weight of evidence, sometimes because of a disagreement with the relevant law.
also note you shouldnt mention it until youre actually on the jury. lawyers can have potential jurors dismissed for knowing this.
THIS
If your called for Jury Duty do not say or do anything to indicate you know about this until your on the jury
I wonder if the opposite applies, for those cases where rapists go free.
âThe reality of being a fat person isnât that every moment of your life is about being fat. That is the funniest thing i have ever read
the thing was, she wasnât going to be able to pass the recertification exam, and she couldnât figure out why. annabelle studied. she practiced. she pulled out every trick and shortcut sheâd learned during her two years as an EMT and none of it worked. she just â she didnât get it. it made no sense.
âwake up,â she urged the dummy, pressing her hands to the pulse points on its wrists. âcome on. what the fuck.â
âyeah, i donât think that asking nicely is going to do the trick,â hank said, his eyebrows raised. his helmet, the special one theyâd decorated for him with craft supplies from michaelâs when heâd gotten promoted to firestation chief, sat askew on his head. âi can see now why they didnât pass you.â
annabelle rolled her eyes. âitâs a psychological thing,â she said. âitâs like, you give the brain an instruction and it follows naturally. and the pulse-point thing always works. i donât know why itâs not, like, in any of the books, but i swear to god itâs worked for me every time.â
it was true that annabelle had the best record on low body counts, which was good because she was the smallest person on the team not counting Georgie, who was a corgi. jake and lillian were always making fun of her for having been the shortest of their whole rookie class. but it hadnât ever been a problem before; annabelle rarely had to carry anybody out, because she was good enough at getting them on their feet.
but none of that would matter if she couldnât pass her stupid recertification exam, because theyâd take her badge and sheâd have to go be, like, a doctor or something.
hank blew out a long breath and sunk down to where she was kneeling on the station floor in full fire gear, giving CPR to the practice dummy, whom they called dierdre. there was a little light that went on when youâd saved its life. it had been a dull gray for an hour now.
âlook, AB. i know youâre a good firefighter, and i know you know how to deliver CPR. just do it like you do it during an emergency. youâre overthinking it.â
âbut this is what i do during an emergency!â annabelle cried, throwing her hands up. âi put my hands on their pulse points and i use psychological mumbo-jumbo and they just get up and walk!âÂ
hank blinked. ââŠreally,â he said, voice flat. âpeople whoâve been inhaling smoke for half an hour just ⊠get up and walk.â
âthe brain is an incredibly powerful organ,â said annabelle, shrugging. âlook man, i donât know, okay? but it works. i havenât had to actually do CPR in like a year and a half.â
he gave her a long, quiet loo and said, âwellâŠ.huh,â before pushing himself back up onto his feet and frowning off into the distance. âkeep practicing,â he said after a minute, and left her there.
-
hank switched her team.
âwhat the fuck, man,â she said, sliding into the truck next to him as the sirens went on. âi canât get CPR on one fucking dummy and suddenly you donât trust me to do my job without supervision?â
carl and bethany very carefully did not meet her eyes in the rearview from the backseat. bethany pulled a magazine from beneath the seat and said loudly, âlook, carl, jennifer aniston and brad pitt are getting back together.â
âthank christ,â said carl. âiâve been really worried about jen.â
hank gave annabelle the flat look that had gotten him promoted to firestation chief in the first place, the one that said iâm your dad and you donât want to disappoint me. as always, annabelle wilted underneath it, sliding down in her seat and crossing her arms over her chest. it was a difficult feat in full gear but she wanted him to know she was feeling sullen.
âi trust you completely,â hank told her, his voice a light scold. âi want to see you in action so i can help you figure out whatâs going wrong with the dummies. sometimes itâs hard for the brain to accurately remember everything that happens during a crisis.â
annabelle rolled her eyes. âi told you,â she said. âitâs just â itâs the same thing every time, Iâm not like, blacking out.â
âgreat, then iâm about to learn a cool new trick,â hank said serenely, and pulled the truck out of the lot. annabelle kept her gaze focused out of the window, watching the city pass as carl and bethany talked loudly about which celebrities were dating which other celebrities and who wore what better. she tried to swallow down the nerves that tightened her throat. maybe the dummy was right. maybe she was doing something else and didnât remember it. maybe the last two years had been a fluke and she had no business being a firefighter. maybe she was about to get fired.
there wasnât a fire, though the alarm was going off. instead they found a bag of smoking popcorn and the collapsed heap of a forty-five year old bachelor type, down to just his boxers and a pair of slippers with llamas on them. he had no pulse.Â
hank held carl and bethany back, directing them to deal with the smoke from the popcorn; annabelle he pointed toward the resident with a jerk of his chin.Â
she sighed, kneeling by his side. she pressed her hands flat to his heart and then dragged them across his chest and down each arm, to his wrists. with her thumbs on his pulse point, she hissed, âletâs go, man. up and at âem. youâre not meant to die in your underwear while cooking popcorn, come on.â
she held her breath for a few moments, conscious of hankâs eyes on her, and let out a long sigh of relief when she felt his pulse jump beneath her, watched his eyes flicker. âwhat the fuck?â he asked, voice a croak. âwhat happened?â
âyou gotta eat more vegetables, bud,â annabelle told him, and looped his arm over her shoulders to help him get to his feet. she was so relieved she could have wept, but instead met hankâs eyes with a challenging glare. see? she thought. i told you. âletâs get you to the ambulance.â
-
âthe bad news is that you have a lot of practicing to do if you want to pass your recert,â hank said without preamble, showing up at her apartment. she didnât think sheâd ever seen him in jeans before. it was weird. âthe good news is i understand your problem now.â
annabelle stepped aside, beckoning him in. âwhat problem?â she demanded. âit worked! you saw it work. thatâs the opposite of a problem.â
hank shrugged. he handed her a trifold that heâd clearly printed off at home. it said so you think youâre a necromancer. annabelle blinked down at it, and then up at hank, and then down at the trifold again. âi ⊠donât understand whatâs happening here,â she told him honestly.Â
âiâm not in the community and theyâre kind of cagey, so i canât really tell you a lot,â hank told her, stilted and visibly uncomfortable. âbut i have a cousin who is, and um, i just want you to know that this doesnât change anything. youâre still who youâve always been and you have my complete support. weâll figure out how to get around the recert. maybe iâll â i can put you on admin duty to give you time to study. weâll say itâs because of an injury.â
âhank,â annabelle said, with some urgency. âhank, this flier says the word necromancer.â
âyes,â agreed hank, looking relieved. âoh, good, youâve heard of it already. i thought i was going to have to have the whole your body is changing talk.â
annabelle shook her head. âno, i â hank. you know that ⊠um, you know that necromancy isnât real, right? people canât bring other people back from the dead. thatâs crazy.â
âannabelle, not four hours ago you instructed a dead man to stand up and he did.â
âokay, he wasnât dead, obviously. he was almost dead, at best.â
âno. he was dead.â
âi felt his pulse! it was very faint!â
âyou called his pulse. no one else would have felt it, because it wasnât there except in response to you.â
âhank, what the fuck.â
he shrugged. âread the flier,â he instructed. âand bring dierdre home with you. youâre going to have to practice a lot if you want to get recertified, considering you havenât one time had to use any of the skills you learned the first go around.â
he bussed her temple as he went by, letting himself out of her apartment with a friendly wave. annabelle looked down at the flier in her hand with a frown. when she unfolded it, the first page said, everyoneâs necromancy journey is different, but most people discover their gift by accident. have you ever brought a pet back to life? touched an elderly relatives hand and seen some of the color flood back into their face? or perhaps, more subtly, been able to keep cut flowers alive long past their purchase date?
annabelle looked at her kitchen table. sheâd had the same vase of tulips on it since she moved in, three years ago. it was true they periodically started to wilt, but she usually just changed their water and they were fine, popping back up one after the other as she slid them into the fresh vase.Â
âwell shit,â annabelle said, letting the flier fall from her hands.
unpopular opinion but i think the film and tv industries should have better labor laws even if it makes it harder or impossible to depict certain things
i dont care if it makes it harder to produce game of thrones or whatever, acting should not leave women traumatized
Okay I know this is about acting and people are getting more traction about it (sexuality safety coordinators are a job! yell about them. demand your shows get them) but
Any person who has worked on a set for more than a few years has at least one person they know who died. Â
Not usually on set, but afterwards. Because we donât have anyone shutting down production for unsafe practices when âunsafeâ means 16 hour days. Or more. For weeks. Finishing a day before hour 12 (not including lunch) is considered an early leave.
I had teachers tell us not to, unless we absolutely had to, take music video gigs because theyâll work you for 24 hours and send you to drive home. And if we had to work that, pull over and nap in our car because multiple people per year fall asleep at the wheel and go over the canyons around LA.
I know you mean acting but please. Donât forget the crew. We have a shockingly high rate of suicide because these working schedules leave us with no sleep, no time outside of work, and it destroys lives, relationships, and families. Burnout is high. Chronic illness and broken bodies are common. Cocaine use in order to get through a 20 hour day is rampant. Every single one of your reality shows is fueled by cocaine.
The number of days that are scheduled to shoot a feature has shrunk dramatically in the past two decades. Which means longer days.
Netflix shows are notorious for being poorly organized, understaffed, and long days.
There are labor laws but what they do is levy fines. Those fines are either factored into budget, people are bullied into not reporting actual hours, or crew members see them as incentive to take those jobs because more money and cost of living is high. (Also this industry has a crew culture of dick measuring by sticking your wang in a blender and boasting about how many 100 hour weeks you pulled.)
this can be applied for people working in animation as well. Like I know people who work at Pixar and they straight up work 12 hour days and go into work on weekends to meet their deadlines. The incredibles 2 made over a billion dollars and Pixar still cut jobs due to âbudgetâ. The entertainment industry is a business at the end of the day. There here to make money and they are going to do it at the expense of workers because they know no one is going to do anything about it.
This is why I get pissy when people have a go about British TV shows only producing 10-12 episodes per season at most, instead of 24. Do you know why? Because the UK has fucking labour laws.
When I worked on BBC Causalty, as soon as it hit 5pm, everything stopped. The producer/director etc would have a quick meeting to decide if weâd go into overtime or schedule it in later in the week. And I got an extra payslip in the mail for every minute of overtime I did, even though I was paid a weekly rate.
I donât care if it means producing less content. I donât care if it means it costs twice as much - if treating your creatives and your crew like shit is needed to make your show, then your show doesnât deserve to get made.
And thatâs aside from the fact that actors are often exploited, neglected, coerced into doing scenes theyâre uncomfortable with etc or outright abused by directors for the sake of ~performance.
No art is worth that.
ohhh i DEEPLY regret teaching my cat how to talk
Oh? Would you elaborate?
okay so one night like a week or two ago kurt was meowing at me and one of the meows sounded like he was saying âhewwoâ so since then I started saying âhewwoâ instead of meowing back at him (like I do with all his cat sounds, naturally) and slowly his meows evolved into something vaguely âhewwoâlike with the one or two True and Powerful Hewwoâs a day
but now that you have backstory I was just standing in my kitchen making rice, everythings dead silent, and suddenly this fucking âHEWWO??â echoes through the whole apartment and it almost killed me
I actually got in huge trouble with my fianceâs sister for that. One night, I heard Fish meowing and it kinda sounded like she was saying âhelloâ so I decided to encourage it. If no one was going to try to get the cat to stop screaming at 3am, I wanted to try to get her to scream words so everyone would be as disturbed about it as I was. For the better part of three years, I used treats to reward her whenever she âspokeâ while not letting anyone else know I was trying to teach her stuff.
One day, my fianceâs sister goes to give Fish a treat and the cat whiffs it. Misses the treat completely and it bounces under the fridge, so sheâs trying to stick her paw under to get it back.
âOh no, Fish. You lost your snack!â
âI know I know.â
Instant chaos. It wasnât even Fishâs best words. If she had only said it once, maybe no would have noticed, but the repetition got attention and everyone just lost it. I made the mistake of praising Fish and suddenly I have the sister turn on me. âAre you why she says âoh noâ all the time?â Apparently Fish rarely âmeowsâ properly anymore and will say âOh noâ whenever sheâs mildly inconvenienced and wants a human to fix it for her.
Me too, Fish.
everyone who reads this post will get some big spicy joy within 24 large minutes (hours)
Ok y'all but like Iâm not even kidding about this I read this post yesterday and today I got an email from the peeps at hamilton and I won the lotto gor $10 tickets and I would like to give all my thanks to the internetâs favorite fish, Goldie Gurston, for making this possible because I totally believe they did this with their amazing gay powers

ââŠlast year this photograph of children looking at their smartphones by Rembrandtâs âThe Night Watchâ in the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam [went viral.] It was often accompanied by outraged, dispirited comments such as âa perfect metaphor for our age,â âthe end of civilizationâ or âa sad picture of our societyâ.
âŠIt turns out that the Rijksmuseum has an app that, among other things, contains guided tours and further information about the works on display. As part of their visit to the museum, the children, who minutes earlier had admired the art and listened attentively to explanations by expert adults, had been instructed to complete an assignment by their school teachers, using, among other things, the museumâs excellent smartphone appâŠ.
The tragic thing is that thisâââthe truthâââwill never go viral. So, I wonder, what is more likely to bring about the death of civilization, children using smartphones to learn about art or the willful ignorance of adults who are too quick to make assumptions?â JosĂ© Picardo, Medium

vegans who refuse to even eat backyard eggsâŠ.why
people who think its unethical to eat chicken eggs are like people who think bees should keep all their honey. they literally produce more than they need and your unwillingness to even buy local means you are doing nothing to help them, support your small farmers you heathens
This is not true.
1) honeybees do not produce âextra honey.â And beekeepers donât take some of the honey, they take all of it.
2) chickens have been artificially selected from naturally producing eggs once a month to producing eggs every couple of days. Their bodies are not sustainable and the health complications of this rapid egg production kills chickens.
Hey idk who like. Lied to you about the way honey farms work, but could you stop spreading misinformation? Are you a beekeeper?
Because I am!
Beekeepers make sure hives are fed before there is pollen in the air, protected from predators and the elements, and have enough honey to sustain themselves. We donât take all of it.
But overproduction of honey leads to stagnation in the hive. It puts stress on the queen to lay eggs, and when they inevitably fill up all their space with honey (instead of filling up the multiple empty, clean boxes of frames beekeepers might put on top of the main hive box), the queen can get so stressed she dies. If thereâs a spike in the weather and the hive hasnât prepared new queen brood, thatâs it! The colony is dead. Because there wasnât enough space for eggs and honey in the hive.
Beekeepers take excess honey. We are constantly monitoring the state of the hive, checking for parasites, analyzing the eggs for diseases, and making sure they are fed and healthy (usually with sugar water and pollen substitutes until they have made enough honey to sustain themselves in the early spring months). If a queen dies prematurely, we make every attempt to replace her to save the colony.
I know thereâs an urge to patronize everyone who works in the farming industry, but try to understand the differences between small scale agriculture and industrial farming. There IS a difference. And stop spreading misinformation.
If youâre this passionate about ethical consumption, look into some of the ecofeminist research on non-hierarchal interspecies relationships (working on building animal-human relationships in a non exploitative way).
But yeah! Stop spreading misinformation! Please đ
Also if I can harp on the chicken part?
Yea Chickens are some of the most abused animals on big factory farms and Iâll be the first to admit itâs criminal and more needs to be done to regulate this.
Yes selective breeding over time has caused an increase in the ammount of eggs produced by chickens and factory farms have some messed up practices to get more eggs from them including forced moutling.
THIS IS WHY YOU SUPPORT LOCAL FARMERS AND THEIR EGGS
Many people take to raising their own hens because of Americaâs immoral treatment of hens in factory farms like youâre not helping the poor chicks by starving these farmers financially youâre just hurting the one people trying to change things and making the OPTION of cage free organic cruelty free eggs even harder to find
Yeah, as someone who like⊠lives on a chicken and duck farm⊠Coops help keep wild animals out but birds are kinda dumb. And chickens literally do not need to keep the unfertilized eggs!Â
Most chickens will sit on unfertilized eggs until they can tell if they are or not⊠By the smell of rotting egg. Yeah, ew. Farmers can hold that bitch to the flashlight and tell if thereâs a baby in there! They know! The eggs are not being abused!
Also - once a month? Like thousands of years ago maybe? Because Grandpa had chickens he literally let just roam around his farm and built coops and scattered corn for them and I helped collect the eggs, and believe me, those chickens each laid more than once a month.
As a beekeeperâŠwhat the fuck? No we donât take all the honey. That would be downright ridiculous.Â
itâs bi/pan and ace/aro solidarity
Ugh yes.
