One thing I truly admire about Mamdani is his rightfully-placed audacity. This man is not stupid, nor is he reckless. He knows there are bounties on his head for proving the decades of "the government can't help, and even if they could it would take forever" lie wrong. He knows this video increases the bounty reward. And he keeps doing this kind of stuff because he also knows if/when they take him out, the working class unrest will turn into enough working class rage for people to stop putting up with every other politician crying about their constituents' pleas that they do their jobs.

Ilya is the white woman who rescues "kitties" and "puppies" from the sides of roads only to bring them to vets who go "this is a mountain lion/coyote/cougar/lynx pup" and on one occasion that Shane will never let him live down "this is a bear cub".

Shane has the nearest wildlife sanctuaries/rehabs at the Cottage and in Ottawa on speed dial. They're on a first name basis with Ilya and most of them don't even know Ilya or Shane play hockey they're just "the Russian with the white woman animal whispering powers and his long suffering husband"

I think ao3 is literally the only site where no censorship means no censorship. you can post the most vile things on there — things that will get taken down on any other platforms — and ao3 will protect you, your works, and your rights to create whatever you want, however you want.

and no, this isn’t me saying “write that messed up, disgusting thing” because while, yes, write it if it’s what you want (I myself enjoy writing dark fics, something I believe would be considered “vile” to a lot of people), this is me saying in a world of censorship and capitalism, ao3 really is a treasure.
