A lot of the satellite footage of Gaza and Lebanon that you see in the media looks like this
And while that is obviously horrifying to me, I think people ho are still in deep denial can sort of pretend to themselves that there must have been a very big battle there, or a massive fire, or one really big bomb. The 'oh we were fighting Hamas/Hezbollah' bullshit can somehow be wielded to stay in that deep denial.
So I think they should be showing more shit like this:
Like, this makes it pretty clear that it's every house. Systematically. Can you convince yourself that Hezbollah was in EVERY house? For real? Or is it time to start facing that the IDF is deliberately going from house to house destroying a civilization?
isnt this just because you're forcing EVERY search to be an AI search....???
or are they only counting the times you consciously open the ai tab and consciously talk to the ai search bot
"after we replaced breathing with ai, usage of ai has increased to an all time high! look how useful ai is! its improving lives!"

The stock market has produced some astonishing winners over the years, but what’s happening with Nvidia (NASDAQ:NVDA) feels different. Five
Labour leader tells ‘one nation’ Conservatives he’s on the centre ground and will keep Britain at heart of EU
Fuck Miliband, fuck Labour and fuck anyone who votes for them next month. He got called Red Ed five years ago and he’s such a gutless coward he’ll do anything to try and out-tory the Tories to prove he’s not left-wing at all. He’ll be the champion of moderate tories while turning his back on the working people being punished for being poor under this government.
Mili says:
“Asked what he could offer Conservatives worried about the rightward drift of their party, he says: “Who is going to stand up to tax avoidance? Who is going to stand up to energy companies? Who is going to stand up to banks? That is absolutely something I think will appeal to Tory voters.”
Your knee jerk reaction missed that, huh? He’s literally pointing out that the ‘left wing populism’ and his standing up to vested interests that gave him his ‘Red Ed’ title are actually universally popular ideas across the spectrum. He then says he thinks this appeals to Tories, LDs and UKIP.
would y’all chill
No, I won’t chill. “Left-wing populism” isn’t the fucking problem, it’s politics going very far to the right, which Miliband is totaly complicit in. “Vested interests” - you mean the trade unions, the last form of representation the working class in this country have since Labour stabbed us in the back? Universally popular with whom? Patronising middle-class wankers who don’t actually give a toss about us, just massage their own egos and protect their own position under the guise of ‘progressive’ politics?
Labour are supposed to be left-wing, they are supposed to be socialists. they are supposed to represent the working class and their interests in parliament; that’s why the party was created. Right now, Labour’s proposed policies and ideology will hurt us just as much as the tories’ will, they’re two sides of the same coin. They’ve abandoned us and we’ll abandon them.
It's nice to go back over old posts when you often think that you were too pretentious and haughty when you were younger and realise you were right all along
The crazy thing is, ninety-nine times out of a hundred, if you asked me on any given day "Would like to see a picture of some genitals?" my answer would be "😰 No, that's... No, thank you. I'm okay, actually." I have nothing but the utmost respect for people who do engage with the penis side of the internet, but personally, I've spent the better part of two decades doing all I can NOT to have pictures of dick and balls or sexy bikini babe buttcheeks blasted onto my retinas constantly. And yet... to be denied the penis? To have a jumped up pile of javascript tell me, a grown adult with an air fryer and an outstanding council tax bill, that I cannot be trusted to withstand the sight of a bare nipple unless I let it scan my drivers' license? I will move heaven and earth to see that fucking nipple, friend. I will walk a thousand miles barefoot on hot coals before I give you big brother bitches my passport number. A thousand miles through the desert with five VPNs just to press my face up against the glass and see the last uncensored picture of two My Little Pony Characters sixty-nining each other, and I don't even want! to look at it! But I will! I must! for the sake of our fucking democracy!
Elon Musk accidentally revealing his mom's account is one of his alt's means that he has both impersonated his own infant child and mother online.
Which also means when she posted to try to end the fight rumors between him and Zuck it was actually him.
And when she posted “stop being mean to Elon” it was also him.
Patiently awaiting your take and your take only on the election.
Haha, I don't have much yet, but:
I mean I know things are much bleaker in Scotland and particularly in poor England and there are certainly caveats to what I'm about to say but lads I personally am fucking delighted
Plaid Cymru have literally never in history done anything close to this well. And this is a big fucking deal, because they were one of the only two parties remaining in Welsh politics that are left of centre, so even if you take the Wales-specific aspect away, this is a staggering development
That is an absolute wipe out for Labour. The Tories had barely clawed in their seats in recent years anyway, not surprised they've lost them, but you cannot imagine the stranglehold Labour has had since Thatcher decided to girlboss our economy into oblivion. This is huge fucking news. All the more so because the First Minister lost her seat, and so is having to resign as party leader, even! I found her outgoing speech to be interesting. She's very party loyal, and she refused to answer any questions about Keir Starmer, but she did say she hopes the national party will correct course; which, from Eluned Morgan, is damning.
Reform, meanwhile, were doing better than this in the polls. Most polls suggested they'd either come out on top or be close to the top, but in the end only Clywd hit the projected numbers; people wanted Reform out, and they united behind Plain to do it, by and large. I was concerned about Greens splitting the vote, but it was actually not too bad in the end.
So, now, Plaid need to enter a coalition. This'll be the first test. They only need 6 extra seats to form a majority, so the logical choice is Labour, since they still have 9, but the historical relationship between Plaid and Labour is, um, Quite Bad, so lol we'll see. I suspect they'll have to, though
All of which means, we have a Plaid-led coalition Senedd, with Reform in opposition. That worries me a bit, because in spite of prevailing opinion, the opposition is actually a vitally important role in politics. I think Keir Starmer is fucking awful, and an absolutely dreadful Prime Minister, but he actually shone in opposition because he's a details -oriented former lawyer who knows how to Cross examine, and that's the opposition leader's job.
Meanwhile, in Wales, for ages that was Notable Clown Andrew RT Davies, former leader of the Welsh Tories. The death of Welsh democracy is on his fucking idiot head. He has been incompetently failing to hold Labour accountable for years. Like... I like Mark Drakeford! I do! I absolutely do not see eye to eye with him on many things, but I think he means well and he was a competent politician who knew how to get the bins collected!
I also think there were many things he needed to be challenged on. Take the NHS, for example. It's on its fucking knees in Wales, and yes, absolutely, that's true across the UK thanks to underspending and understaffing. It's also true that Wales' budget is terrible, but that's true of the Scottish NHS, too. So; why is it that the Welsh NHS is doing so much worse than the others? Even accounting for all those factors, something is different here, and we need to know what.
It's the opposition's job to ask that. Andrew RT Davies tried. But he's such a fucking idiot that rather than asking that normally, he decided to do that stupid Westminster thing of attempting a zinger and trying to say that Labour is shit. He described the Welsh NHS as being "like a third world country". He did so in 2022, at the height of Partygate and the COVID enquiry, when we were still clapping NHS workers.
Drakeford's response has gone down in history, because I cannot stress enough that this kind of chest-thumping slanging match is not actually normal in the Senedd. If you see that video, look at Drakeford's hands. Look how he's so angry that they're vibrating. He was such a mild-mannered man normally. But Davies fucked it so badly that this was the response. Drakeford atomised him. He might as well have just gone "How fucking dare some worthless stray dog bark at me." The speaker had to halt proceedings and calm everyone down; again, normal in Westminster, but very much not in the Senedd, as was the subject of academic study as far back as 2009, a mere 10 years after its creation
And the problem is, every single Reform representative here is a fucking joke. I do not for a second believe they'll be any better than Andrew RT Davies, a guy who once compared the American January 6th riots to people who voted Remain in Brexit, lied to the press that innocent white children were being forced to eat halal food in school, and then made repeated populist lying statements that broke Senedd Code of Conduct until his own party got so sick of him that they held an open vote right to his face to force him to resign. We will not even get THAT standard.
But, on the bright side, Reform IS a joke, and so far nationwide we've seen repeatedly that people lose enthusiasm for them very quickly once they realise what it's like to be ruled by a circus juggler that doesn't know where the balls are kept and keeps trying to fuck a lion. So, if that holds true, it's good for them to get it out of their system now, before the next GE
Anyway sorry this is rambling
Do you, Gordon, take Keir, for richer or poorer …
Same exact playbook, down to the "but it was based on a lie."
It's kind of amazing how much this is the identical strategy. Focusing on the distress and harm of parents over the trans or autistic person themselves. Pathologizing the condition treating it as an epidemic, including calling it a social contagion causing a worrying "explosion" of diagnosis because it is "trendy."
Ignoring the experts on the subject while also appealing to "common sense" and dismissing all research that contradicts them while also appealing to "basic science."
Plus it's all the same quacks and actors behind previous medical and social moral panics saying them same things in the same ways and no one seems to acknowledge that.
she says in the article that she was inspired to think this way about autism after she started reporting on detransitioners. Her Twitter mentions are filled with prominent voices in the detrans terf movement. This isn't just similar, It is quite self-consciously an extension of the same movement.
ITS GREAT LAKES AWARENESS DAY!!!!!
On this excellent day, be aware that this is the largest group of freshwater lakes in the world, covering over 95,000 square miles and reaching depths of over a thousand feet. They are beautiful freshwater seas.
Also when you die in these lakes, the very cold, oxygen-poor conditions at the bottom preserves you perfectly for all eternity. You will not rot and nothing will eat you. You will exist for as long as the Great Lakes do. Many shipwrecks still have the crew on board. Be Aware.
that last paragraph only applies to Lake Superior, the northernmost Great Lake! to be fair though, Superior is bigger than all of the other Great Lakes combined.
and that's not to say that the other Great Lakes aren't equally dangerous! each of these things earned the 'Great' descriptor for a reason, and the only reason they aren't all classified as inland seas is because they're not salty.
Lake Michigan in particular is really good at creating waterlogged corpses and hiding them in weird places, and every single Great Lake is full of shipwrecks and ghost stories.
and you know what? 10/10 I would let these things eat me anyways.
be aware!
fun optional addition, LAKE SUPERIOR VS THE EAST COAST
you could drown an entire small country in this thing
Great Lakes Awareness Day is May 5th this year!
LET'S GO LAKE WHO NEVER GIVES UP HER DEAD LET'S GO!!!
Great Lakes Awareness Day for 2026 is May 4. You only have a few days to get ready!
My scheduled reblog worked perfectly!
Now I just have to decide how I will observe Great Lakes Awareness Day.
Now that we are all aware of the Great Lakes, I suggest that we spend the day after Great Lakes Awareness Day getting aware of the threat posed to the Great Lakes by mining operations. Bummer topic, not as fun as corpse preservation, I know. But it is real.
And right now, my greatest concern is the threat to the Boundary Waters posed by a proposed copper sulfide mine in Minnesota.
The Senate passed H.J. Res. 140. The Boundary Waters lost federal protections — but this fight is far from over.
May 5, 2021 - A “Margaret Thatcher Square” sign in Madrid was replaced with “Bobby Sands Square” by an activist on the 40th anniversary of Sands’ death. The Irish independence fighter died on a hunger strike in prison to pressure British PM Thatcher to give back political status to Irish Republican prisoners. [link]
"[Y]our Harry Potter games are Cybertrucks" is such a good way to put it.
Salt of the Earth (1954), dir. Herbert J. Biberman
Damn, son.
EVERYONE SHOULD WATCH SALT OF THE EARTH
Salt of the Earth actually has a crazy interesting history- OP already said it was made in 1954, but that was in the middle of the Red Scare (communism scary cold war hysteria)
Congress’s anti-communism target fell hard on Hollywood, and those in the industry who were suspected of communism at all were blacklisted from all jobs, because studio’s didn’t want to face backlash from Congress
Salt of the Earth was made nearly 100% with blacklisted crew members from Hollywood, and had such difficulty finding actors that they hired local citizens and miners from the actual strike the plot is based on. There were only 5 trained actors involved, and one of them (Rosaura Revueltas, the woman in the gif) was deported to Mexico before they finished filming on accusations of communism, with no proof and no substance. The filming was plagued with police harassment and threats (according to my professor they were shot at more than once), and the local union hall was burned down.
The movie itself not only covers a real 1950′s labor strike demanding safer and more equal labor conditions for Mexican-American employees, but after the miners were facing arrest, their wives and children took up the strike in their place. The movie’s combination of blacklisted crew, civil rights and feminist message, and pro-union plot (during the red scare) got the movie blacklisted and only 12 theaters in the entire United States would show the movie- it was successful in Europe, but didn’t actually achieve viewership in the US until the 60′s

The thing is, even if you were lucky and your parents taught you how to clean, they probably didn't teach you how to clean the stuff you clean stuff with, like brushes, mops, sponges, rags, and so on. Or how to clean your cleaning appliances, like a dish washer, clothes washing machine, and clothes dryer and its ducts (if you have a ducted dryer), or a carpet cleaner, vacuum, Or how to clean up clean messes, like spilled bleach or detergent.
My parents threw away all of these things (even the vacuum cleaners and the dryer) when they got too dirty to function, because no one even told them THAT they could be cleaned. Cost them thousands of dollars over the years.
All I'm saying is that cleaning is not intuitive, and not knowing how to clean is not a moral failing, but it is something you can learn.
I'm going to reblog this post with resources for learning how to clean things and how to clean cleaning things (I'm not at my desk at the moment). If you have any favorites, please feel free to add them in too!
I like this video because it does a great job of introducing the basic foundations of house cleaning (and because he doesn't use bleach, which is a common allergy in addition to being awful to inhale). He also talks a little about how to clean a vacuum. And why you shouldn't put grease from your pots and pans down the sink drain. I also love that he mentions that different houses and different people have different needs and different versions of what clean and cleaning looks like.
He doesn't mention though that the toilet seat comes off. I take my toilet seat off to clean under the hinges and clean the seat more thoroughly once a quarter.
This is another video from the same guy about cleaning and depression. This advice, especially at the beginning, can feel really really difficult and oppressive to hear. However, I find that it's generally pretty solid. But I'm autistic and so is he, so that gets a massive Your Mileage May Vary stamp on it.
I have a favorite part of this video. It's from 10:52 to 12:36. I think we could all use to hear that. There's a HEFTY pause after that one. I promise the narration does come back.
I'm also going to recommend KC Davis' book "How To Keep House While Drowning"
This is a pair of videos about how to correctly load and use a dish washer.
The first one is a quick 1 minute 30 second overview on loading. I can't find the exact video I'm looking for, so consider this a substitute for that. If I can find the one I'm looking for, I'll swap it in.
The second is a half hour deep dive on dishwashers and detergents. The short form of that is you shouldn't need to pre-rinse anything, detergent pods are overpriced and can cause problems, some dishwashers have a filter in the bottom that needs to be cleaned (but most don't), run your sink until the water is HOT before starting your dish washer, and put a little detergent in the pre-rinse dispenser when you're washing extra dirty dishes (or on the inside of the door if your dishwasher doesn't have a pre-rinse dispenser).
Favorite Scrub Brushes + How to Clean Them. The right tools for cleaning tasks make all the difference! Scrub brushes are great tools and it
Here's a blog post about scrubbing brushes and how to clean them.
And a video for all cleaning tools, including scrub brushes. This video does use bleach. I'll try to find some alternatives to that.
How to clean a front load washer (with bleach). This should be done monthly or every time you wash really soiled clothes.
With expert tips and tricks for all types of washers.
How to clean a top loader (without the removable agitator thing). This should be done every 1-3 months depending on you unit, or every time you wash really soiled clothes.
Regular cleaning of a top-load washing machine will prolong the life of the appliance and leave your laundry cleaner and brighter.
How to clean a top loader (with the removable agitator thing). This should be done every month, or every time you wash really soiled clothes.
This video is for pet owners.
These carpet brushes are a LIFE SAVER if you have dogs. This thing allows me to go from vacuuming about 4 square feet before my vacuum is full to vacuuming half the living room (I don't vacuum often enough. You should vacuum weekly, and I just can't.). I have to unclog the vacuum less often. It fluffs up some of the flat spots in the carpet. And I also use the brush to shampoo my rugs in the spring.
A spot cleaner (or a carpet cleaner with a spot cleaner attachment) is another life saver, ESPECIALLY if you can afford to splurge on a heated one. I see them at Goodwill or at yard sales occasionally, and they're worth picking up. The shark one in the video is great too.
This channel is gold. There's tutorials for cleaning EVERYTHING on there. Just go subscribe!
Gonna throw another potential resource at the end of this very long list, which may be potentially helpful for others like me who loathe videos. It's... the weirdest thing that has genuinely been helpful to me in housekeeping. Absolutely full of useful advice, and bizarrely still relevant in large part. (Though, caveat, research ANYTHING to do with chemicals or cleaning products more complicated than vinegar + lemon + water for modern information.)
It's America's Housekeeping Book (1941). Available for free download on the Internet Archive. (Large PDF file at the link here).
The LISTS y'all. The step by step lists. The emphasis on efficiency and arranging spaces for the least resistance possible. The basic concept of "take a tray or basket into a room when you are tidying up so you can put things that belong elsewhere on it and take them out LATER in ONE GO".
My ADHD-having ass could cry.
Word of warning for people using descaler tablets btw.
1). When they say you should only put a small amount of water in the kettle, turns out that means much less than you think
2). It makes a cool amount of erupting foam when you use it
3). They WILL stain your kitchen counter and leave a weird ghost like pattern on it.
