Pleaasseee ask me these to help me get back into using this blog :) ily
Hi there! I have a question. So ive newly descovered genderfluid and im just starting to explore it all. But i was wondering how you know what pronouns yoy feel that day. I find i dont know until im already walking down the street in a skirt and feeling really uncomfortable because it doesnt feel right that day. I think that makes sense. đ
Honestly same, I've gotten better at this but not by much, which can be kind of frustrating lol. I think if this is happening to you a lot, the best strategy is to just dress as androgynously as you can, so that if your gender changes throughout the day you'll still be somewhat comfortable.
I also know that some people bring a change of clothes with them? I'd personally try to avoid that but it's up to you. Often I do know how I'm feeling in the morning just by guessing but later it'll change and then I'm like aaaa. You do just have to be patient with yourself though- once you adjust and accept yourself, knowing will come more naturally.
I haven't come out to my parents yet, but when i'm female I want to keep my first name, but change the name of my other genders. Is this alright?
I don't see why not! I prefer going by one gender neutral name, but lots of genderfluid people have different names for different genders. You do you!
Hi! I just found you and I feel like you might be able to help me. I've been trying to understand whether I'm genderfluid or not but haven't made much progress. Is it the definitive changing of feeling one gender or the other, or is it a tipping of the scale between fem and masc? I'm comfortable in my body as my bio sex, but would also be happy to transition. Regardless of what gender I'm feeling on a day I can portray myself as both fem or masc, if that makes sense. Am I valid or just a mess?
Hello!
Personally, I would think that you'd need *some* desire to transition, or a preference for a transitioned body over what you were assigned at birth, but I also get where you're coming from. In terms of the two ways you've defined being genderfluid, it's a bit of both. Sometimes it's very clear to me whether I'm male, female, or neither- and other times I'm just like aaaa wtf. Ya know?
I don't think I'm really the right person, or that there's anyone that is, to determine whether you're "valid" or not. But I will say that if dysphoria isn't much of a problem for you, you could look into things like gender non conforming?
Another thing that might help is asking your friends to use different pronouns for you and see what makes you feel euphoric, as opposed to dysphoric.
I just recently came out to a few people about being gender fluid! But my family just got used to the whole " me being gay" thing and I dont know how to tell them without them being super shitty about it. Any advice?
Hi anon, congratulations! Coming out is always super scary... If your family is somewhat supportive of your sexuality, that's already a very good sign. However, giving them time is important. Definitely try to wait as long as you can before you tell them. It might also be easier if you compile a list of helpful links such as information and support for parents of trans kids? This was something I worked on for quite a while, and it'll also make you feel more prepared.
Good luck! Always message me if you need to <3
I saw an ask about being genderfluid and using only she/her pronouns. As someone who is genderfluid, reasons why someone would do that would be if they are more familiar with she/her. Even if they are IDing as male, there is still a comfort in the familiar pronouns. Or, as you mentioned, they might not be out. Personally, I always use she/her, even if im feeling gender neutral because other pronouns don't feel right to me somehow. Gender is different from prounouns. Just thought I'd explain
Thank you! I am definitely working on being more understanding... I think for me my pronouns are very linked with dysphoria. I kind of lashed out, which was wrong of me. I do understand that not everyone experiences gender in the same way, and I'll definitely be more accepting in the future <3 it really means a lot how thoughtful and patient this comes across.
What does it feel like when you fluctuate? Feel free to not answer if it's too personal
Not too personal at all! For me, fluctuating isn't really a noticeable "feeling" I get all of a sudden. I'll just kind of catch my reflections and be like "huh, I feel like a dude. I'm a dude rn! Wasn't I nb this morning...? Eh, whatever." Like, I'll know I've fluctuated at some point in the day but never exactly when.
Does anybody else feel almost like when waking up you feel genderless and then within that first hour after waking up your body falls into its gender catagory? Also does anybody else feel like their genders have specific personalities and different traits? For me my male name is Adrian and I tend to feel differently on days that I am male presenting. If anybody else feels this way as well I'd love to discuss. It's hard to explain properly in so few words just how much different I can feel.
I definitely get what you mean about not knowing when you first wake up! Personally I don't use multiple names but I feel like I present my personality differently when I'm male or female, even if it's just to help with my dysphoria sometimes. I'm interested to know what others relate to in this, too.
So I'm pretty sure, like 99% sure, that I am genderfluid. I usually float around feeling very non-binary or genderless like being an ethereal being with no set anything. Its very hard for me a afab with a very curvy and soft female body to appear male when I want to. Is there any advice you can give me to appear more male presenting?
Hello! I have pretty much the same problem, especially since I can't really access men's clothing.
I'd definitely suggest loose clothing, and pants like tracksuits or cargo pants. Backwards caps are absolutely my favourite thing for looking masc right now!!
Also I've seen recently people getting lifts for their shoes? Idk if you're short, but even cis guys who want to be taller are putting insoles in, which could be super helpful. Hopefully they aren't too expensive!
I hope that helps... Have a nice day/night!
To the Anon who asked if they can be genderfluid and still use she/her pronouns all the time, YEAH! Use whatever you're most comfortable with, and if your gender shifts, you are under NO obligation to share that with anyone, or ask for new pronouns if you don't want to. I use my birth pronouns out of simplicity, even on my opposite days. I might change my mind about that someday, but for now, I'm chill with my birthnouns. YOU know you, and I'll love you no matter what you want to be called. ;)
Y'know what? I'm starting to feel differently about this... Cis people treat me not so great because they don't understand being trans. Even though I don't understand why it doesn't make you dysphoric, it doesn't really effect me and I'm starting to realise how diverse people's experiences of gender fluidity are. Thank you for the supportive message and I hope that anon sees this. Also, I'm super sorry if anything I've said in the past upset anybody, y'all are valid <3

To the asker that requests rats!!! I have pronoun pins that I got from Hot Topic!!! Theyâre color-coded and pretty simple/noticeable. They have she/her, he/him, and they/them. I recommend those, theyâve done pretty well for me!
Hey, this is awesome! Hot topic saving lives once again. Anyone looking for pronoun badges check it out :)
