When a man is openly misogynist and you find out that he has a girlfriend, do you shout "ha! So you are attracted to women!" That would be absurd, right? Of course he's attracted to women. In fact, misogynists pretty famously sexualize women. It's like a huge part of misogyny. It doesn't mean they value us or see us as people.

It's literally exactly the same thing when a transmisogynist is attracted to trans women. Their attraction is part of their transmisogyny. They see us not as people, but as sex objects.

Start disappointing people and not backing out of it when they are upset, reject feeling ashamed of everything including of yourself, start saying No to things you do not want to do not just things you're scared of, do more of those things you're scared of but wish you could do, make your own plans and execute them, decide to do or not do something without basing it on who will Dislike it.

Free Will takes practice, and the chance of making someone somewhere Slightly or even Very Disappointed In You. But you're an adult and you can't be made to stand in a corner anymore.

My wife is cis. If someone we know is mean to me (which happens a lot) she can tell them to stop and they will actually listen because it's a cis woman talking. If I try to say something about it, well, you can guess how that would go.

Not that I like being disempowered in this way of course, but given the reality of our lives it is an obvious benefit to have an advocate who counts as a Real Person. Nothing has more directly illustrated the deep reality of transmisogyny to me than the difference between when I point out a problem vs when my wife does.

It’s a scary time to be a trans woman. A lot of people might be scared to go on estrogen because they have unsupportive people in their life.

You can go on estrogen and hide it, you don’t have to come out in order to go on estrogen. It’s easy to diy and most of the effects are subtle, if you’re particularly gifted with boobs that might be a concern but you’d be surprised how much a sports bra can hide.

Just, don’t wait your whole life for the time to be right. You can start medical transition without social transition.

I was on HRT for 3 years before I came out at work. When I finally did I had long hair, ear & nose piercings, painted nails, and wore a 36D bra. ONE person at work had any suspicions at all. People see what they expect to see and that can be helped along with a compression bra and loose t-shirts.
