btw functionally for the US election today you are not picking your "hero" or whatever you are picking your opponent for the next four years because all presidents are bastards and they oppose the working class. you are simply selecting the one you can get the most ground on. this really helped reframe some stuff for me, hope this helps

Okay I’ve seen people asking what does it mean so here’s my humble attempt at interpretation:

Cross to symbolize the doa’s downfall. The cross in Christian religious imaginary represents Jesus - people’s savior from sin -, who was executed by the people, similarly to how the ada will become terrorists to the public despite their very demise starting because they attempted to do their job of “saviors” by trying to rescue the diplomatics.

Wings to reinforce the image of specifically Ranpo as an angel, foreshadowing how Ranpo is going to play a key role to restore the agency reputation and solve the case. Angels are also mediators between humans and god, possibly hinting to how Ranpo is going to reveal who Kamui (god) is to the agency and eventually to the public. But the wings aren’t classical pure white angels wings, and instead red: perhaps the wings of a fallen angel, probably once again to symbolize the ada’s downfall. Red is also the color of blood, to address the gruesome opening of ada’s demise and how their path will be traced of pain and loss (ahah. I’m thinking about someone in particular here)

Eyes on the wings to refer to Fitzgerald’s Eyes of God, but I feel like it might also be a reference to Dostoyevsky’s unsettling god-like presence as someone omniscient who watches over everything and controls everyone, how he inexplicably seems to know everything even from far away (in prison)

The overall aesthetic is reminiscent of the play from untold origins, significant for how in changed Ranpo’s life forever

I’d even go as far as saying that the blood stained chair of the play, place of the first murder in the script, is there to match the chair we can see next to Taneda, place of the first crime to open the whole Sunday tragedy, as well as of course a chair to match the chairs the diplomatics were chained to when they were later killed

I really need to elaborate on the untold origins play, but this sequences of white angel wings turning blood red just like the ones behind Ranpo is so evocative, I feel like it may symbolize the law abiding / “saint” ada turning into criminals / “sinners” (notice how the cross is there too!!)
