The raw power in the air scalded me, dug under my skin, squeezed my breath.
Miles in Witchmark by C. L. Polk.
Couldn't recommend this book enough.
Did anyone mention the pandemic?
This little piece of writing was originally supposed to be from Bastian in my Wattpad novel ‘SONDER’. Bastian is a boy who struggles with homelessness and loneliness as he falls in love with his best friend Elijah.
However, as I was writing about grief, I thought about how it related to me, feeling trapped and sorrowful about the world I once belonged in.
I think it’s okay for us to admit that we are in the middle of a grieving process, and I feel freer as for the acknowledgment.

I find reading fiction to be the best way to escape during this pandemic. I really do hope that people have found their own method of escape. Writing ‘Sonder’ helped me think of a world that wasn't filled with the sadness that COVID has spread, as well as the illness. I think that's why I am so excited to share it.
Here’s a snippet of what I eventually wrote for Bastian about Elijah. I do really hope people have found their own ways to be okay.
“
He wanted to go for a jog after he had beat his high score, so he was wearing a t-shirt and joggers that showed off his defined figure. Elijah was soft- round eyes, big heart. He would fumble in his anxiety, blushing beautifully and reminding the world of his youth. He would usually wear baggy clothing hiding his strong figure, a defined shape, showing that he didn't exercise for the appearance it gave him, but because he enjoyed it. The feel of the intentional, meant-to-be-there sweat, instead of the social-anxiety induced sweat. Control over the body. He was fluid as well as tight, though- long hair, androgyny with taste- sometimes wearing women's loose trousers, a touch of sticky pink to the lips. A beautiful face set to the backdrop of the hard lines of his stone-cut body. He was talented, too. So talented you could feel the pain that it accompanied, the loss of innocence that came from a body scrubbed raw with scrutiny. Sing for us, dance for us, and be a man for us, golden boy.
"Yes!" he cackled. "I win!"
He ran towards me and hugged me. It surprised me at first; I hadn't had anyone touch me so intimately in a while. Then I wrapped my arms around him and laughed, too.

BOOK REC
‘Death is more vibrant than life, because it reminds the onlooker that life can be snapped away with one click of death’s fingers.
My fellow friends all saw some version of decay in the upcoming days. They will tell you their versions of it, but beware- someone always gets burned when the candle is snuffed out.
Until death do us part.’
Seven boys- three bothers, four friends- all tied together through their friendship and twisted secrets. Their world only gets more dangerous when one of them dies, leaving behind a web of betrayal, lust and scandal.
I would love it if you would check out my new mystery novel on wattpad- all feedback is welcome!
Playlist for fantasy literature!!
Including:
The ‘Shadow and Bone’ series by Leigh Bardugo.
The ‘Six of Crows’ series by Leigh Bardugo.
(There’s a theme here...I LOVE the grishaverse, and can’t wait for the new Netflix series coming in March!)
The ‘Carry On’ series by Rainbow Rowell.
The ‘Red Queen’ series by Victoria Aveyard.
And...although Ancient Greece doesn’t count as fantasy, this playlist would definitely suit Madeline Miller’s ‘Song of Achilles’, too.
Also my new YA MYSTERY novel on Wattpad would also go well with this!! Hehe sorry bit of self- promotion but love if you could check it out and all feedback is welcome! X

Haruki Murakami
An amazing author even before Harry Styles recommended ‘Norwegian Wood’. Although, I can completely imagine Toru Watanabe listening to ‘From the Dining Table’ and ‘Meet Me in the Hallway’ from Harry’s first album.
‘Norwegian Wood’, ‘South of the Border, West of the Sun’ and ‘Colourless Tsukuru Tazaki and His Years of Pilgrimage’
I DEFINITELY recommend these books if you are into modern literature, Japanese culture, novels on the university experience and evocative literature.
What I loved most about these books was the beautiful way in which Murakami depicts modern life, and they were very enjoyable to read.
1Q84
A dystopian novel that I LOVED...the way that Marukami depicts the characters’ individual stories sucked me in. Definitely recommend if you want to try something completely new!
Escape to...ITALY!
The food- amazing. The art- beautiful. The history- fascinating. The landscape- stunning. The fashion- iconic. Italy has EVERYTHING, and I for sure plan on going there when this pandemic is over!
Books in image:
‘Italy’ ~ Lonely Planet.
‘A Literary Tour of Italy’ ~ Tim Parks.
Netflix recommendations:
The Assassination of Gianni Versace.
Medici: Masters of Florence (has the guy from the bodyguard in it!)
Letters to Juliet (makes you want that Italian romance).
Roman Empire.
Food:
Cannoli (a chocolate or pistachio filled pastry, perfect with a fresh coffee).
Foccaccia (a spongey Italian bread you can buy in most supermarkets- eat with olives, feta cheese, olive oil, sundried tomatoes, Parma ham...or simply have warm and dip in olive oil and balsamic).
BBC GoodFood’s ‘Pizza Margherita in Four Easy Steps’. (The word ‘easy’ was what first drew my attention).
Danny Devito’s Family Pasta from Jamie Oliver’s website (tomatoey, cheesy).
Help each other be safe out there

this is LITERALLY the funniest promotional piece that anyone has ever made for a tv show or movie ever
The best part is the story behind it. After Edgar Wright stormed off the project, this movie almost got canceled. It took Peyton Reed literally finishing it with his crew in a single year, and Paul Rudd contributing on the writing to get it done within the deadline. And apparently, because they had to rush production ON a reduced budget no less, the effects weren’t even close to done by the time they had to put out Trailers and TV spots, and most of what was finished, or near done, had to be used in the theatrical spots. So Rudd and Douglas here supposedly came up with this idea, on the spot, as it would at least get people talking and avoid reusing too many of the same shots.
They accidentally hit the precise vein of our generation’s comedy
This is one of my favorite clips of anything ever
Rest in peace, Chadwick Boseman.
Spooky Shopkeeper: The price may be more than you expect to pay.
Me: Yes, I know how US taxes work, too.
Shopkeeper, increasingly exasperated: I’m trying to tell you that I’m evil and offering these wares with no regard for the harm they will do!
Me, also increasingly exasperated: I know what capitalism is too goddammit
The shopkeeper, annoyed: I'M TELLING YOU IT WILL COST YOUR SOUL.
Me, equally annoyed: AND I'M TELLING YOU I UNDERSTAND "NO ETHICAL CONSUMPTION UNDER CAPITALISM"
Agatha, before leaving for America:
