Just because you've awakened to a state of Non-Dual awareness doesn't mean you won't succumb to alcoholism or sex addiction or whatever.
I used to believe once awakened (whatever that means), you've reached a point of understanding and live your highest realised truth.
The thing is, we're all human. Enlightened or un enlightened, is irrelevant. I had six years sober before I even knew what non-duality was.
I've succumbed to temptation and alcoholism. I'm not ashamed to admit that. I am an alcoholic. I am addict, full stop.
Alan Watts, believe it or not, was an alcoholic.
Nisargadatta Maharaj, believe it not, was a chronic smoker.
Why did these saints/guru's choose to use such poison whilst living from a place of clarity and truth?
Because they were human.
As we all are.
And don't beat yourself up as I do myself.
Addiction is a part of my karma in this lifetime.
It just shows me there's more work to do and deeper levels of being to realise and experience.
As humans, whether we've embodied being fully divine yet fully human, or we're the biggest egoic mess one could ever imagine.. we're still human.
And we can all struggle with health issues and addictions in the same ways.
We're human. And we will be until our physical death.
You can't keep doing this.
You can't keep doing shitty things and then feel bad about yourself like that makes it okay.
You need to be better.
You are all the things that are wrong with you.
It's not the alcohol, or the drugs, or any of the shitty things that happened to you in your career, or when you were a kid,
it's you.
What matters is that you keep going, that you stay alive. Slowly, you will start to see the positive effects of trying to do new things, as frightening and awkward as they may seem. Be proud of your small steps towards living your life, not matter the pace they take, no matter what others think. The most important thing is how you are already being so brave for taking this path.
Remember: forcing yourself to be too positive when you just can't feel it naturally is not encouraging yourself anymore, if it feels too forceful to you, it becomes toxic positivity.
you've gotta understand i don't post on here to gain followers i do it to empty my mind ruthlessly each day so i dont go insane . me posting about a character is just me shaking my brain upside down to make sure everything comes out
Do you also deal with mood swings? Mine have been pretty bad lately. Emotional dysregulation is a common symptom of ADHD. Though it can also be caused by bipolar disorder, autism spectrum disorder, anxiety and depression (amongst many other things).
I can go from being happy one day to feeling anxious or sad the next, often triggered by insignificant events. Also, me being a 'highly sensitive person' means Iâm easily emotionally overwhelmed because I take everything to heart and even feel other people's pain. For example, I saw something upsetting on the news yesterday and it left me feeling depressed all day đ„ș Sometimes it really feels like my brain is playing Wheel of Fortune with me to decide my mood.

even if you started your journey of recovery and went through a time of better mental health, you are not broken for feeling not so great again. you are never meant to feel perfect all the time.
some people naturally struggle with excess anxiety or feelings of depression, and they may need help to tone it down and smooth the ups and downs of their life. but negative feelings in moderation are simply human, and you did not fail, you did not mess up, for feeling them again. all that it means is you are human.
however, if what you feel seems extreme and constant, it might be wise to seek help again, and thatâs okay! there are periods of life where one solution works, but then maybe later it doesnât work anymore and a new one is in store. trust yourself, because you know how you feel and you know yourself, and you can figure out what you need to feel better. take your time and be careful with your heartâ€ïž
Self care is choosing what your soul needs over what your ego wants.

Just a reminder, you don't fucking need anybody. Let them care when it's to late, let them realize when your already gone, let understand the gravity of your presence when your no longer around
