I havent been through the tag yet so i have no idea if someone else has already made this post but
I am obsessed with this shot. Look at it. Not only is it the most beautiful and visually pleasing image ever, its just so full of details.
The circle of the ark, acting like an enormous Halo behind Beatrice, both in the idea of the Warrior Nun Halo, but also just generally like the Halos the Saints are bearing in any artistic representation. Saint Beatrice, patron of prisonners, guarding the doors of her love’s prison.
The cross over her head, acting like the sword of Damocles, physically and metaphorically. Warrior Nuns and Sister Warriors, always in the middle of danger, always at the risk of dying at any minute. Beatrice’s budding love, that could be taken at any moment because she fell in love with the Halo Bearer, the one that will die for the cause, way before old age.
For all the show, we had blue divinium crosses, giving Adriel his power. We had a golden Halo, giving Ava her powers. Now we are presented with a blue circle, and a golden cross. Upside down world.
And the cross with the circle, that is the gender symbol of womanhood, upside down. Just like the OCS, an order composed of women, being turned upside down by treason, lies and the murder of so many of their own.
I’m sure i could keep going, or some of you could complete this, but i just had to sit down and write my thoughts, like they really did that. They really gave us that quality. What a show.
