my favourite mask guy whos never done anything wrong ever actually
the reason that wounds that break the skin hurt is because its always supposed to be dark inside your body and when your blood sees sunlight for the first time it gets scared. and that causes the pain. or maybe it doesnt
genuinely wild that ally knows that AI is literally the villain this season and yet hj has pivoted to solely using AI in the penultimate ep
Have we considered the very real possibility that, that is the point? HJ is not a good person, he is a capitalist and a murderer explicitly from episode one, why is it so surprising that Ally as the one acting him is choosing to have him do other morally reprehensible things, with the payoff being that Brennan immediately makes it clear what the consequences of using AI are. It's not just a bit, it's intentional messaging that using AI is bad and that people who are okay with using it are not good people.
Detective, please, you have to save me,,,, you have to do it while monologuing about the human condition,,, there HAS to be electric guitar while you do it.......
Maybe a hot take ig but all the people who are hating on Maya for not trusting the coterie have to be lacking media literacy or flagrantly misogynist. She's a queer woman of color who's hometown is being dismantled and sucked dry of all its funding by rich white people and then fucking CAPATLIST VAMPIRES show up and destabilize the power structure of the entire town. She knows the coterie could kill her or anyone she loves if they wanted to, so of course she's combative with them, of course she doesn't trust them at all.
Brennan, did you have to? 😭😭😭
no dude it's so cool how attached you are to that character who is singled out and ostracized due to the external monstrousness that clashes with their internal spark of humanity. and i love how drawn you are to themes of horror and love, nature versus nurture, otherness, isolation, and the abject. i bet you have normal feelings about your own personhood
No, like, I love this. Because there really is nothing stopping LaVonte from taking the Austin offer and dipping out of here, making something of himself. HJ wouldn't stop him.
But HJ wouldn't be there with him, either. And maybe that's worse to him. Maybe he didn't even know that until the path out was there, shining in front of him.
Its a love hate relationship with Julien and his shadow
I need more people to draw juliens hair like this its fantastic.
I just can’t get out of my head the fact that julien said if teor dies, it is a soldier’s death, and if thimble dies trying to save him, it’s an example of why the falconer’s rebellion failed
because I think julien is always trying to make the tactical choice. when he’s trying to get occtis to leave, he’s not giving emotional reassurance; he’s telling him the tactical reasons behind why they need to get out when they can. he’s not just being heartless or callous, he’s trying to make the best strategic call. he’ll put himself at risk, but not when it jeopardizes the task at hand.
and why is that? well, as we saw in the flashback, raimond taught him how to do whatever necessary to achieve victory, whether people liked it or not. ‘you will be a booed and living man.’ I think julien has internalized that lesson to an almost damaging degree, and he’s divorced himself enough from any emotion but anger that he can’t really fathom making a choice based solely on feelings. especially not when those feelings put the strategic play in jeopardy.
but at the same time, he so frequently FAILS to make the tactical choice he knows he should. he tries to deny being driven by emotion, because in his mind, that’s why the rebellion failed: acting on emotion, not strategy. but he keeps going back for people. he keeps putting himself in harm’s way when he could run and accomplish his own objectives. he keeps sticking to occtis and the others and he can’t explain why, so he tries to couch it in tactical terms and deny caring.
he’s just such a complex little ball of fucked-up-ness I want to put him in a jar and shake him
there was a really beautiful moment in last nights episode, during bolaire’s breakdown over his sisters’ return. he was spiralling and argumentative and thaisha just…took it all in, cocked her head to the side and asked a devastatingly insightful question point blank. bolaire. are you angry? or scared? and of course bolaire bursts out as though it’s the most obvious thing in the world that it’s both. bolaire is terrified.
and there was this dawning expression of understanding on thaisha’s face. because up until this point all of bolaire’s issues with thaz, all of his snide comments or outright hostility has been seen by the group as the attitude of someone who is angry and bitter and tbh maybe just sort of petty. but i think in this moment thaisha was re contextualizing all of her previous interactions with bolaire and really seeing him for the first time
and her expression softened. she spoke to him with a gentleness that hadn’t been there before. a relatively quiet moment but one that hit me hard and i havent been able to stop thinking about it.
"Bolaire, come take a look at this thing you created." "I'm not supposed to create things." "Do things dream?" "I thought so, but apparently I was -" "Can things create?" "…I don't know." "It's a thing that people do. Maybe you are more person than you think."
AAAGGGGHHHHH
So different, yet kindred all the same pt.2
the planet won't heal until fat butches are a common sight in media
The joy of seeing Amelia in City Council of Darkness official character art and going "holy shit she looks just like me"
Thaz since his own funeral
“i didn’t ask you to care about me but i am not letting you out of my sight…. fuck!”
