🌿 ⇢ I go by ika (as in いか) or ink, I'm wasian (Formosan + Chinese, northwestern European) and from the PNW. I’m an adult, and this blog contains mature topics. I study public health and work as a diversity analyst, but my true calling is playing with dogs and wandering around in the forest all day.
🪼 ⇢ I am globally neurologically disabled due to developmental disruption suffered in utero. I use stability/mobility and sensory support aids. I am autistic and have overall medium support needs. I'm passionate about disability advocacy, especially for those of us with higher support needs.
🌧️ ⇢ I’m queer and sex variant, I have gonadal dysgenesis and have been on informed-consent hrt since I was 11 yrs old. Dilating since 2/2025. E date 4/2025. Top surgery in progress!!! Sometimes I like to coin terms and make flags on this blog, sometimes I talk about sex education.
🌱 ⇢ I love absurdist-horror media and 80s/90s animation and manga. Some of my favorites: Courage The Cowardly Dog, The Last Unicorn, Princess Mononoke, Phil Tippett’s Mad God, Welcome to Nightvale, Hannibal, Tokyo Ghoul :re, Anne Rice’s Interview With The Vampire, Trigun Maximum, Evangelion
For Intersex Jam 2026, I made an informative zine. “Intersex Inclusion: A Crash Course for Creatives” is a quick primer on how to include intersex experiences in your creative works. The text-only version* is available for free, licensed under CC BY 4.0, and I encourage others to repost and use this zine in place of asking random non-activist intersex folks about how to represent our entire community with dignity.
* (it's supposed to be in comic form, but due to rampant computer crashes, I wasn’t able to assemble the artwork into a screen-reader accessible PDF in time for the deadline.)
Overwhelmingly, the most common question I see from allies to random bystanders who just so happen to be publicly intersex is “how do I include intersex people?”
I know they mean well, but it gets tiring. I hold no enmity for them in my heart; in spite of that, I’m tired. I want to see folks like me being considered at all—without having to see random, non-activist intersex folks awkwardly struggling to rehash the same three points again and again because well-meaning but ignorant allies keep asking the same question of non-activists while prostrating and flagellating themselves over how they didn’t spawn into existence as a perfect ally. It’s such a demanding task that thinking about it makes me want to roll over and take a nap.
Fortunately, I am an old dog incapable of learning new tricks; hence, I am back on my bullshit to provide a bunch of infographics loosely assembled into a zine. I made sure to pack it with resources and citations good for your nutrition, all with love from the universe.
Take my hand. Let’s be inclusive of intersex experiences in our creative works, together.
This is a zine specifically focused on creating and developing intersex characters, how to handle intersexuality in a variety of genres and creative project types, how to worldbuild while conscious of intersexuality, and common pitfalls for uninformed allies new to writing intersex folks. For references more specific to writing, see versegm’s “An Intersex Writing Reference” and Hans Lindahl’s “Tips for Writing an Intersex Character with Grace.”
[Content warning: in order to respectfully but realistically talk about intersex history, this zine contains brief, undetailed discussions of topics such as medical gaslighting and abuse, sexual harassment and assault, and medical and sexual abuse against children. These are included strictly for the purpose of educating on intersex history and experiences. Slurs and bigoted or discriminatory language towards intersex folks and traits are included without censorship, also to educate on their history and meaning. Full content warnings are available within the zine itself.]
a labelling system for masculine Chinese or East Asian individuals who identify their masculinity, be it gender, presentation, or anything else, through the lens of the "four gentlemen" plants. each plant is associated with a virtue and a season. these alignments can be interpreted however the user wishes.
made with Chinese people in mind, exclusive to those who are bodily (East) Asian.
✦ méi (梅) / plum blossom, representing resilience and purity. aligned with winter.
✦ lán (兰) / orchid, representing humility and refinement. associated with spring.
✦ zhú (竹) / bamboo, representing integrity, strength, and flexibility. aligned with summer.
✦ jú (菊) / chrysanthemum, representing introspection and tenacity. aligned with autumn.
Happy disability pride month pride to people with degenerative, progressive, and terminal conditions. I know the future can be terrifying but I am glad you are still here now.
Also, it’s okay to never date anyone ever. It’s okay to never even try it if you don’t want to.
I wrote a master’s thesis on intentionally single people, and the number of them that said in various ways, “I didn’t know not dating people was even an option at first” was absolutely tragic. They honestly thought they had no choice and it never occurred to them that opting out was even a possibility available to them.
People honestly believe these are life experience you are required to have AND THEY ARE NOT.
You can just not have sex. You can just not date people. You can completely by-pass one or both of those things. Neither of those things are required to be healthy, happy, normal, mature, fulfilled, or any of the other bullshit notions that get attached to these things.
Sex positivity is about bodily agency which includes the choice to NOT/NEVER have sex, so inclusion of asexual/celibate/sex repulsed people will always be a pillar of any real discussion of sex positivity and sexual freedom.
Is that person transmasc or are they just on T? Is that person transfem or are they just on E? Is that person transfem or were they just assigned male at birth? Is that person transmasc or were they just assigned female at birth?
Is that person actually transmasc or transfem or are you just gendering hormones and body parts? Is that person actually transfem or transmasc or are you just equating agab with gender alignment?
Is that person actually transfem or transmasc or are you forgetting that unaligned and alternatively aligned enben exist?
An anattractional label combining Orchid + Bellus for anyone who experiences a disconnect between their attraction and their desire.
Orchibelle describes someone who experiences attraction in some form, but may have little to no desire to act on their attraction, pursue it, or define it. An orchibelle may desire aspects of intimacy, but it may be in the absence of attraction entirely.
An orchibelle may have intense attraction towards someone separate from the desire to do anything with them, and vice versa. Their attraction and their desire may not occur together.
An orchibelle may have a squish or a crush, but they have little to no desire to pursue them or change their relationship.
An orchibelle might desire sex or enjoy traditionally romantic acts, but experience little to no attraction directly.
An orchibelle may experience aesthetic attraction to someone, but have little to no desire to interact with them further.
Coined with alterous, aego, and autistic experiences in mind
Demiaroace + aegorose, using this aegorose base/color palette
For anybody who experiences a disconnect between themselves and their attraction until emotional closeness is established / who may experience a disconnect between themselves and the subject of attraction, but has the possibility of connecting once an emotional bond is forged.
for bodily intersex people to describe their genitalia as altered or created due to igm, forced hormone treatment, and other similar affects. term is intended to be neutral and a way to acknowledge having atypical genitals or created genitals due to igm.
atelo-vagina, atelo-clitoris
atelo-penis, atelo-testes
description and meanings below the cut ↓
(tw for mentions of genitalia and igm)
one may identify with this due to having a majority surgically constructed vagina or penis from igm, variations that have been surgically altered to attempt perisex ideals, mixed result or incomplete igm, complications from early age igm which have caused atypical genitalia later in life, forced hormone treatment which has altered or changed genitalia, or simply a way to acknowledge one’s genitalia has been altered or created in some way by igm and similar affects
one may use atelo-genitalia as an umbrella term for any and all genitalia or similar parts which fall under the definition, and use specific terms underneath this (ie. atelo-vagina or atelo-penis) to describe their genitalia in whichever way one prefers, including ambiguous genitalia. however these more specific terms are intended to be used for genitalia which was altered or created to appear more like the perisex ideal of the genitalia type
while intended to be used for genitalia, atelo-x can be applied to other forms of coercive and/or unconsentual alterations due to igm or similar affects. such as altered breasts, cosmetic surgery, forced hormonal changes, etc
atelo-genitalia / atelo-x
dark green stripe - ambiguous and/or mixed genitalia of all kinds
light green stripe - self identified genitalia
yellow stripe - intersex identity
light orange stripe - self acceptance and recovery
orange stripe - solidarity and resistance

the center of each flag features a flower, with the upper half being an orchid, representing being uniquely intersex, the lower half is a clover, representing change from igm and similar effects. the flower being two separate flowers represents not only how part of one is taken and changed, but often how igm is not reflective of one’s self and identity. the circle extending from the stem mirrors the intersex flag, but is incomplete at the end as a show of protest against igm while still showing we are complete people even after igm
the stripes on each flag are intended to be able to combine with the others, so that one is able to construct a flag that feels representative of their own genitalia
this term is available for other igm victims to make subtypes, more specific terms, or generally as a prefix (atelo-x) to describe one’s self how one sees fit. transparent template available below

courage the cowardly dog is not cowardly because that poor dog will be facing the flayed corpse of god or some shit every episode. courage the reasonably horrified dog
controversially i guess, i think people who are not "good" at reading and writing should still be able to do it if they want to. i really don't care if people can only shallowly understand a character or misinterpret them entirely, if they don't understand symbolism or metaphors or see no value in them, if they think what I think is "bad writing" quality-wise is really good, if they skip certain parts of a book, or in what order they read a book. likewise, i don't think people having bad grammar or dialogue or purple prose or less description or too much description or pacing issues or not understanding how what they're writing about works are bad or lazy people
and this is because i think anyone should be able to participate in the arts yes but specifically i think art made by people with intellectual disability, developmental disabilities, learning disabilities, and cognitive disabilities has just as much value as art made by people who can know or do more than us, regardless of what we're able to know or do
and in an age of worsening fascism, i don't think "if you don't follow the abled, english-speaking standards of reading and writing you are morally lazy and irresponsible and shouldn't be participating in the highly esteemed and sacred arts" is a very good stance to have
the equation of high intelligence, cognitive ability, and academic and artistic proficiency with good morals
not really unrelated, but i have a fact for you. people used to say people had or came from "good breeding" or "good genes" as a compliment
