HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL (2006), dir. by Kenny Ortega
I got 60 out of 1000 đ
Based on the number of ratings each book has on Goodreads. And if you haven't read them, maybe you can use for a literature bucket list.
at some point in your life you will be boiling fruit, water, sugar, and lemon juice in a pot to make a syrup or jam. the instructions will tell you to simmer for a certain amt of time. your timer will go off and you will look at the pot and go, "hm, this doesn't look thick enough. maybe i'll let it go for another 10 minutes." this is the devil speaking. it's only so liquid right now because it is at boiling point. it will thicken when it cools down. learn from the follies of my youth and do not let this happen to you
at some point in your life you will be making a sauce or a stew in which you need to add cornstarch to thicken it. and you will prepare a slurry of starch in cold water and think "this looks like way too little starch to thicken this amount of liquid." this is the devil speaking. cornstarch instantly polymerizes at 95°C and if you add too much it will turn into an impossibly thick goop.
at some point in your life you will be making some sort of cream based dessert that requires gelatin to thicken it. and you will soak some gelatin sheets in water and think "this is too few gelatin sheets for this amount of cream." this is the devil speaking. it will thicken in the fridge and if you add too much you will end up with milk jelly
at some point in your life you will be baking cookies. you will take the sheet out after twelve minutes as the recipe instructs and the cookies will still be glistening and soft. "these don't seem cooked enough," you will think to yourself, "i should place them back into the oven until their edges are nice and golden." this is the devil talking. this is how you get dry, overdone cookies. the cookies will continue to bake on the warm sheet for several more minutes and then harden up after sitting on a rack for a while. trust the process. trust the process.
at some point in your life you will be adding a small pasta to a soup and you will think "that is not enough small pasta." this is the devil talking. the pasta will absorb the stock and expand. this is how you end up with a soup that is a solid mass of soggy ditalini.
At some point in your life you will be adding garlic to a dish and you will think "that is not enough garlic." These are angels speaking. They are correct. Add more garlic.
James and Lily, 1977. They lived a short life, but kissed a lot. [After so many still frames, I just wanted to try something different.]
I donât know I just feel like reviving this gif I made 6 years ago.
as a writer you will have a specific deck of vocab words you like using a lot and when you read other peoples' work you will see a very clear spread of different vocab words on their end. this is why you need to read, to collect other writers' words like it's a card game
this is also why you need to read more than one genre/fandom/type of writing so your deck doesnât get all inbred like a sad designer dog
[A white fortune cookie paper with black text on the front and an icon of a bee. It reads: There are big changes ahead for you. They will be good ones!]
Hi!
Itâs been a while, huh?
To tell you everything, Iâve had three very intense months. And I donât even know where to start. But rather than going through it all, Iâd rather skip straight to the conclusion: I moved. đ
For a bit of backstory: Iâm Parisian. Iâve lived in Paris my whole life. And for several months now, that life just wasnât working for me anymore. So... to make a very long story short, life in Paris might seem romantic and super cool, but in reality, itâs a city packed with qualities, but also a lot of flaws.
I think being a tourist or visiting Paris a few times in your life can be wonderful. But when youâre in it all the time, the stress and anxiety take up too much space. Some people love it. Me? Iâd reached a point in my life where I needed as little of that as possible.
So one morning, I woke up and asked my best friend, my soulmate, to help me to move, plain and simple.
And today, Iâve left my tiny Parisian studio to live alone in a house, right in the middle of the forest, in a remote corner of eastern France. And honestly... I think itâs one of the best decisions Iâve ever made in my life.
The best decision because Iâll get to start over in so many ways. And God knows I needed a fresh start.
So itâs been twelve very intense weeks of searching, house hunting, visiting places, negotiating, buying furniture, waiting for furniture deliveries, chasing after a new couch that disappeared into thin air.... and just handling the move.
And then... itâs also been weeks where I got to spend time with my family, my friends, my nephews whom I love so much. And realize that sometimes, very often, the best things are simply being surrounded by the right people.
So, in conclusion: I have a huge new art studio, and Iâm absolutely ecstatic and so excited to start painting in it.
And of course I missed painting Jily đ« So, hereâs a little watercolor full of tension, flushed cheeks and scarlet ears.
There you go.
A plus ! đ
I want to learn more exclamations that arenât strictly just religious stuff. âJesus Christâ this, âoh my godâ that, nah I want something fresh.
What are some of yâallâs favorite exclamations that arenât about god?
first submission and we're already off to a fantastic start. absolutely love this one thank you
ok its time for the challenge round now we want nominations that arent about sex either actually
had a friend who used to make new ones up on the spot. The only one that stuck with me was 'good golly jelly beans'. If something catastrophic happens I go for 'that's not ideal.'
@chekhovs-tantrum
Absolutely not letting you leave these in the tags.
"everything comes out teenage petulance" is such an insane lyric because it's like yes i'm an adult but i'm about to start ripping pages out of my diary i'm about to color on the walls in crayon i'm about to start posting angsty memes on the internet i'm about to burn your things in the backyard i'm about to delete every photo in my camera roll i'm about to have an identity crisis i'm about to scream for an hour and everyone around me thinks it's just spilt milk
There is no drug on earth that can replicate the absolute euphoria of hitting a writing flow state at 2:00 AM. You arenât even typing anymore. You are a vessel. You are a channel for the gods. The characters are speaking directly into your brain and youâre just the stenographer trying to keep up. You feel like you could fight a bear. You feel like you invented the alphabet
That âcomment on your a03 workâ email hits like a line of cocaine every time. unmatched dopamine increase. shoutout to everyone who leaves a comment on fics. you deserve the world
forced immortality is a fun trope. unappreciated. someone/something wants you to remain so it makes you. it will not let you die
Sleeping poorly is so embarrassing... sorry im grumpy I stayed up past my bedtime. Like a toddler
And he feels like home.
every 4th of july I think about the american tourist who was like oh thank god youâre open I wasnât sure if youâd be open today and I was like why wouldnât we be and he said because of the holiday. in norway.
