That one post about the seamstress stuck making all of the period-accurate clothing for time traveling shenanigans, but it’s Garak getting random requests for people wanting to LARP in the holosuites, which means lots of studying up on historical fabrics and styles that leads to many an argument during lunch with Julian about said fabrics and styles.
It’s extra personal because Julian’s also his best customer.
Well since Iowa is randomly trending right now let’s take this opportunity and celebrate the birth place of James T. Kirk!
“No I’m from Iowa I only work in outer space”
“We do not want to add any of what you have going on to our Collective, k thx.”
Lwaxana Troi is such an underrated character. This woman went through hell and came out confident, powerful, and bringing other people up. She’s funny, kind, fabulous, an intelligent diplomat, and a damn good single mom. Yes, she’s a little overprotective of Deanna but you’d be too if your first born died under your care and if your living daughter lived on a starship. She’s very good to Alexander and Odo. She’s so fabulous and both the TNG fandom and the DS9 fandom don’t give her enough love.
Terribly sorry to hear of the passing of Aron Eisenberg earlier today (September 21, 2019).
Deep Space 9′s Nog is a wonderfully and surprisingly complex character, one of Trek’s best, because he represents what Trek at its heart is all about: the breaking of stereotype, developing of cross-cultural relationships, striving for achievement, and coping with loss and setbacks to emerge on the other side, changed but resolute. Eisenberg’s wonderful performance, which skillfully developed Nog’s nuance and charm over seven seasons, was inspiring and heartfelt.
This is a loss, for sure. My best wishes for everyone in coping.
To absent friends.
thank god starfleet academy is centralised and there aren’t different higher education colleges with varying levels of prestige because some of the characters would be unbearable if they went to space harvard (i’m looking at you, julian bashir)

We are, as a fandom, collectively sleeping on how GOOD that WWII uniform looked on Julian

Me, trynna explain to Twitter, Insta and Tumblr what I want on my feed:
Star Trek side of Tumblr:
How do they get the com badges to stick to their shirts in The Next Generation???
We’ll ask some experts and find out for sure. 😊
My guess? Magnets or Velcro. Or even tape. I’d imagine they had different types; ones that stayed on so they could have a visible backing, and ones designed to be removed in certain scenes, that they had to rig up something different.
It’s Velcro.
The combadges looked like they were made of metal, but were actually plastic, and very light. They were held to the uniforms by Velcro, and Garrett Wang and Robbie McNeill would play a game on set where they’d throw their combadges at each other, trying to get them to stick to the Velcro.
Garrett says that one day Kate Mulgrew joined in. She made one throw, and stuck the combadge on the first try. She then said “I’m the Captain,” and walked away.
It’s amazing how much information is available for Trek, and yet a little detail like that is just obscured by it all. 😁
Watch: Leslie Jones gave a touching tribute to Whoopi Goldberg about why representation matters
Gifs: The View
Just beautiful <3 @lemonade-time
oh my god. Imagine being Whoopi and hearing that though.
Well, when I was nine years old Star Trek came on,“ Goldberg says. “I looked at it and I went screaming through the house, ‘Come here, mum, everybody, come quick, come quick, there’s a black lady on television and she ain’t no maid!’ I knew right then and there I could be anything I wanted to be.” - See more at: http://www.startrek.com/database_article/goldberg-whoopi#sthash.gKeuf3XI.dpuf
That’s three generations. Nichelle Nichols to Whoopi Goldberg to Leslie Jones.

Representation fucking matters.
REPRESENTATION
MATTERS
God, I was hoping someone was going to tell the Nichelle inspiring Whoopi part of the story. It is literally why she did Next Gen.
Add The Next Generation to things that Whoopi Goldberg made possible. We were going to be cancelled at the end of our first season, but Whoopi Goldberg (who was the biggest star on the planet at the time) went to the heads at Paramount and told them she wanted to be on Star Trek. So they gave us another season, specifically for her. I think about all the people who saw themselves represented on TNG over the years, and all the kids who are now scientists and engineers who were inspired by the show, and I hope that Whoopi Goldberg always gets the credit she deserves for making it possible for TNG to grow the beard.
“There are certain things in the movie that are very Russian that is difficult for an American audience to pick up on. Like when [Kirk and Sulu] freefall and I capture them and I say something in Russian….[says Russian phrase]…it means “Oh man!” basically, which is something I ad-libbed. Which goes back to what I was saying. Chekov never speaks Russian in the series, and that was Russian slang. And that that is something I decided to add just for the hell of it, because JJ [Abrams] said ‘throw in some Russian, let’s do it for fun.’ It was just a moment that needed some kind of reaction, and they loved it out there. It is one of those things that Russian people get. I think Russian people are very happy with Chekov because he is one of the few Russian characters in American pop culture history that is not the Red Dawn kind of Russians.” — Anton Yelchin
