I’m never going to get over the final scene with the gate of truth. How when asked to play god, the correct answer is giving up your ability to play god.
It even cycles back to Ed’s dialogue in chapter one, with the story of Icarus, because in that metaphor Ed is Daedalus. And just as Daedalus hung his wings in Apollo’s temple, never to be used again, Ed surrendered his alchemy with full knowledge of he’d done, and what came about from his mistakes.
So many people fuck up the story of Icarus when they use it thematically but Arakawa gets it so right.
